CAN WE SELL IT ALL IN 2 DAYS? | ANTIQUE VINTAGE ESTATE SALE

We have a cute estate sale with old things in a great old neighborhood! But can we sell a house full of items from a traditional New York estate in just two days...in modernist Florida?
This video shows how we arrange, price and sell when a house has wonderful items that may not fit the local market. Garden statuary in the living room? Books in china cabinets? We'll try anything to present old things in new ways that will help people envision how they can use them and make them part of their lives.
This look behind the scenes shows the estate sale just before it starts, with prices visible for resellers and collectors wondering how estate sales are priced. Then we show you what goes first and fastest, what lingers for half-off day and whether we can reach our goal of clearing the house entirely with a two-day sale. Watch and see!
Here are some of the antique, vintage and reseller-priced goodies that attract people to this estate sale:
Flow blue, concrete lions, Blue Willow, brass candelabra, Wedgwood vase, vintage books, mahogany china cabinet, 1820s English plate, John Perry flamingoes, vintage B&W and Infinity stereo equipment, Cuisinart stainless processor, patio furniture, antique shell inlaid table, marble top side table, blue/white porcelain clock, silver plate, Franklin Mint fish, costume jewelry, 1920s oval mirror, four-poster bed, paper ephemera and photos, vintage baskets, area rugs, Chippendale chairs, colored 1980s glass sets, Robert Hodgell engraving, art and prints, concrete flower baskets and font, Italian ceramics, Royalty commemoratives, 1990s botanical china, French armoire, butler's table, barley twist candle holders, Crown Ducal vase, Limoges platter, etc.

My fiancé and I started a company that clear out the end of estate sales and make sure everything left over finds a new home and try our best not throw anything in the landfill unless absolutely need too. It takes a lot of time to sort through stuff but I think it's worth it :)
That’s so great! There’s money and usefulness in what’s left, you can make a living and help a bunch of people too. If you’re ever where I’m having sales, let me know!
I’m so impressed with your philosophy on estate sales. You want to get the most money for your client but also you give resellers & collectors an opportunity to purchase below value. It’s a fine line but you walk it well. So many estate sales like to hang “eBay value” along with their items hoping to get retail prices. I usually walk away from those sales.🤷🏼♀️
Beautiful home, showcasing the beauty was outstanding George.
The house made it easy!
So happy to see the green "We respect these items when pricing" tape!
Yes plus the donation outfit doesn’t want to see that you already had stuff in a sale so it’s ready to remove at the end
While Florida isn't my thing, the neighborhood looked so wonderful. The prices looked great!
I wish Florida wa all like this, I would love to see it not so crowded and manicured. The pricing seemed to clear the house so I feel good about it!
I LOVE that you "unhide" items that have been strategically hidden. I do that as I am thrifting as well, even with clothing. You are absolutely right, buy it or leave it for someone else.
Good for you! It’s just not right
Where I live, if an estate seller knows a blue willow platter is worth $50, they price it at 75!
I know there are some estate companied that aren't very fair minded. George is very professional.
I see that as well. In this day and age when everyone can access online info, you just can’t get away with that!
@@carolsledgewalker6903 definitely. Unfortunately, some brick-and-mortar dealers and some thrift stores think that they should be able to charge eBay prices or higher.
Our local landfill still has a building for people to put free items for other people to take. They just finished fixing some worn out parts of the building so hopefully, it will be around for a long time to come. I find alot of awesome stuff there for resale. Great video...Thanks again George.
Good to hear they all should!
Wow, would I go haywire here! Such nice things priced so generously! And bonus, to get to meet George!!!!💚💚💚
I had so much fun meeting viewers at this one!
Love this presentation. So much beauty and info.
Thank you it was a really nice place to show
What an awesome house!
Really cute
That wasa great video. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share.
You're welcome! It was time worth spending.
Your prices are so reasonable! The prices at estate sales around me are full out antique store prices! 😵💫
I bet they don't sell a lot until the final clearance in that case.
I was hoping the Icart print didn't sell, lol. Looks Beautiful in Florida... I could use that about now, we had a big storm the weekend before last in Seattle and a tree destroyed my master bedroom and bath, Luckily the only thing I lost was my civil war era buffet that my TV sat on, not one piece of glass was lost! I did crush the bones in my index finger, but as long as everyone is OK, that's all that truly matters... now if it would stop raining, but you know how it is in Seattle!
Oh no! I heard that storm was frightful but I had no idea so bad. I'm so glad you're okay (mostly). It is lovely there, they had their big storm this summer with some similar results
These are my favorite videos that you produce!!
I like them too! more to come
That area "Driftwood" reminded me of coral gables area when I used to live in Miami.
Yes but more off the beaten path! Love the foliage in both places
I love the old homes / neighborhoods on the Gulf islands. Can't wait until I move back to The Florida Gulf coast.
I have friends that own properties on Maria Island. Most that lived on that island 40 yrs ago were poor... Now they're practically millionaires because of their properties.
Yes it was the end of the world but now it’s a destination
What a beautiful neighborhood and home! The mature landscaping and natural foliage are really amazing.
Yes it’s one of my favorite places there
The low prices surprised me. I could afford to buy most anything in that house. I would’ve gone straight to the jewelry, and then to the books. I enjoyed the video, George. I’ve wondered how estate sales work. Now I know. Thanks.
Yes! That's the point. I wanted to price them fairly but so resellers could buy. I made more in gross sales than I or the client expected because I didn't try to squeeze every dollar out of every thing.
Can not believe the prices are amazing you would never get at value in Ireland it's a pity we have nothing like that and then the 2 day half price my o my I still am still in shock would have bought lots of stuff I would love the patio set you are so professionall loved the video
Can't get it into my head that you brought some into landfill thanks
Wish I was local, I would buy most everything on that table.
Me too!
Coquina floor get out ! So fabulous. Something new in Florida
Right?! I think it's so cool!
Thanks George this was really interesting, really fun wa
Watching sorry goofed up.☺
I’m glad you thought so, I was hoping it would be
I never knew that area of St Pete existed! So….COOL!
Yes! People who’ve lived there forever don’t know about it
It was great to see the Start to Finish!
I’m glad! I thought even the unglamorous parts made sense to show for the full effect
Oh like the toile curtains behind jewelry table
OMG ... what phenomenal prices! Wish I lived closer!!
Me too!
I think you are just amazing! Your videos represent your knowledge and appreciation of all of the history of my generation and before. I see items that were part of my past...things that were a part of my life history...What I love most is your respect of the beauty of the past.
Well thanks but it comes naturally, these stately interiors have been part of my life for as long as I’ve been here and it’s so nice to understand their appeal and share it
Your prices are so reasonable! Thank you for showing us the items when we can't be there.
You are so welcome!
Was so excited to meet you and what a wonderful historic area Driftwood is. ❤
Beautiful things and love my finds.
Hope to see you again in the future. George your amazing.😉👍
I was so excited to meet you too! The care package from Frida’s was amazing and so kind of you. I’m sure we’ll meet at another sale or The St Pete sunshine city Antique Show 2nd weekend January
I have to say your prices are very reasonable. The estate sale companies in my area (Ohio) are far closer to retail, perhaps at retail on the first day. It always makes me wonder what they do with the stuff the don't sell since even at half off on the last few days some of the prices still aren't tempting enough. I would love to attend more estate sales but I work a traditional schedule and that makes it hard since I would have to put in for vacation time off to make it to the first or second day in many instances.
Hi there! Yes, I see retail at some estate sales first day, but that’s a good way to run of repeat buyers
Really enjoyed this video and the work and thought you put into an estate sale is amazing! Thank you for putting together a video that is also a teaching tool for how to conduct a successful estate sale.
I figured there’s a few things that are really important, especially how you price and hope you take precautions
This was a very cool house. I liked most everything about it.
Would love to see more videos like this. Thanks for sharing!
More to come! I've done a few in the past as well
Beautiful neighborhood, it's what I imagine "Old Florida" was like. Also, the restaurant looked very cool
Yes all that true!
I've gone to many estate sales and auctions, seen people hide or steal things. It's a shame. Went to an estate sale, where a family was moving a bed. A gun slipped out from between the matress and box spring. A teenager picked it up and accidentally shot himself. Be sure to check everything. Thanks George
Wow, that's a bad story! We do check carefully, we've found guns hidden in walls, coins hidden in walls, money under floorboards, etc.
That's a tragic story
Fascinating to see the event from the other side of the deal. Thanks so much!
You're welcome! I find people like these videos
That was fun to watch! Our local St Vincent DePaul put on Facebook they would not accept any donations for 2 days because they’re so full!! They’re always so nice there
They are. Any donation site can get overwhelmed
What a fun two days.
It sure was! Thanks
I use to make dollies ,so I like to see the dollie up close .
Here in Australia the tip workers have a tip shop. They seperate anything that is renivatyable or repurpose able and put it in the shop which is a very profitable venture.
that would be really nice if people could get those little antique things that are getting thrown away before they get turned into mush
Oh man, I missed this estate sale! You were right in my neck of the woods! Glad it went so well!
Shoot! If you go to tampabay-estatesales.com, you can sign up on the e-mail list and get notifications
What a beautiful house! I would have had a spot for the old mirror. The person who lived there had good taste. Great job showing us around George. Thanks
He did, I"m glad everyone shared it
I look for garden tools a lot. Last swap meet I went too, I found 2 long handled older tools for $1 each in perfect used condition. Would have been north of $30 new.
Yes! Exactly right. I sell them for about 20 cents on the dollar
Wishing I lived close!!!!
Very interesting in how it all works. Thank you for sharing
I try to shed light on different aspects of the business
George,
You and your crew are amazing!!!! Fascinating download!!!!! J
They are! I give them a lot of credit for what I'm able to do.
I really enjoyed hearing about the things 4 sale. Interesting to view the 4 diff stages of the process! You did very well selling this Easate! 😊 Thank you George !
🌓Hey there, just found your channel, I love it. Thanks so much for all the incredible information yo share. I love anything vintage /antiques. I have a wonderful collection of different finds and I can’t wait to share it soon. We are moving to Florida very soon, I can’t wait to go to estate sale, yard and antiques sale. Looking forward to seeing more wonderful videos.🙋🏾♀️👍🏾
Hi Kim! I’m so glad you found me. Please like, subscribe and have fun catching up on old episodes! Hope to see you in comments and maybe at a show or sale this season in Florida! You can bring pics and show me your collections
Geez George, I would love to come to your estate sales! And what a great house... Love it!
It was a cool place!
Very interesting to see an estate sale start to finish. My neighbor is the only estate sale I've been to. Line around the block. Since I knew the house well, all I noticed were the things missing. Their son kept the good stuff, which is wonderful of course. Also this type of thing in Portland is very expensive. Depends on where you live I guess, estate sellers have a bad reputation in Portland. Not to say you are anything but above board!
I don't blame family for keeping the best items, but it makes a sale less fun. It's not cool with me if they estate sellers are keeping them or overpricing so they can buy at discount at the end, I've seen that happen sometimes. I've done Portland estates and was surprised how positive reaction to our methods was
Wow, the blue and white is great.
He had pretty pieces
That Blue Willow dish set was simply gorgeous. I would use that and not put it up just to look at. Seriously too. Thanks for sharing and you have a great day
what a great job ... so knowledgeable
I'm just Sooo jealous of your access to these beautiful estates. 😎
I understand! I feel fortunate that I have built up a reputation to be allowed it
Enjoyed watching this again. So glad that the videos remain available (always learning and relearning with a replay)
i will leave them up as long as you tube allows!
I really like how an estate sale is set up..gone through and finished. Great video!! Thank you!😁
I like showing it too!
Thanks so much for teaching others about the value of blue and white china!
Very successful👍 I can really appreciate all the hard work you put in behind the scenes. Lots of work, it's obvious you really enjoy it 😁,, Joel
I do and I’m glad that shows
Well that was interesting. I've been to a lot of sales but never run one. I have to clear out my parents house so this is helpful.
You did a great job George.
Was a pleasure meeting you at this sale! Hope we can coordinate and collaborate in future endeavors!
Me too! It was fun seeing someone else who does this sort of thing come to a sale
Stunning house George!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great items....glad the oval table went to Vinnie's!
The house looked amazing you did a fantastic job, I loved your descriptions and price tags awesome 😎 I wish I could of shopped the jewelry tables lol, your so blessed, sold almost everything!!!!!!!🥳
I really was and am very grateful! Thanks
Good job ! I have enjoyed your video from Oklahoma.
Great video! I love old St. Pete, spent every summer there. Thanks for sharing.
I really am quite fond of it as well
Well George that was great, you priced everything to move out, which it did! I can't get over the tree left growing in the middle of the house.
Enjoyed the estate tour!! So many great items! I also enjoyed how you explained an estate sale, even the precautions to watch your step.
I just want people to have fun and be safe
George you are so informative. I have to pick up more books to get to your level.👍Oh, I have purchased some small TreasureCraft/Pottery raft vases they bout 4" tall? Nice little stoneware bud vases. My favorite TreasureCraft piece I own is the Tilted Violin Planter. Thanks for your show.🤗
Love the house and area
I sure did too
Great job George!
Thank you much!
I'm so happy to see that you put everything in the house up for sale. One of my favorite places to hunt for treasures at estates sales is in the kitchen. I went to one high-end estate sale once (on the first day of the sale, too) and I was so disappointed. They cleaned everything out of the house...the kitchen, the cabinets, the bathrooms, the closets, the garage, and the basement were all empty and the only things they had for sale were a few pieces of furniture and some dishes in two rooms...all over priced as well. It was so strange to see that compared to any other estate sale I had been to before. 😁 Thank you, George
I’ve turned down so many sales because the family “got rid of the junk” and so only dishes, furniture and art remain. I need cool little old stuff to keep people interested so they buy the good stuff!
@@TheAntiqueNomad You're strategy makes perfect sense and works well for you, George. You did tremendously well on selling at this estate sale. 😁 Thanks for all the wonderful tips.
Looks like a great estate sale. Wish I was closer. Watching you from the Southern Tier of the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York USA
Me too! Maybe I'll get one up there someday.
Wow, I would have loved to attend that sale! Very good prices and a great selection of goods!
Maybe I'll get to do one by you someday!
@@TheAntiqueNomad gosh, I would love that!
Great sale!...I just ran another one and we did not get the turn out I was hoping for although we had great weather...yours had some really fine pieces...and GREAT deals!!
Thanks! I try to make sure people want to buy
Hey George! The 1820s plate was really a beautiful piece. Those brass candelabra are definitely in my line of interest. I've always liked those. The barley twist candle holders would've come home with me. I like those better than the brass ones. The Latin print of Genesis really caught my interest. How much did you price that? I liked the shelf that was on the loveseat. You did super-good with that sale! That was a really interesting step-by-step of an estate sale! Thanks for giving us that!!!
Thank you for following through it with me! I thought you’d appreciate the more tasteful accessories and I like all your picks, agreed about the barley twist over the brass!
As always a wonderful video,
I always learn new things and that makes it so much fun. Enjoying the Antique Nomad in Milwaukee 😄
Right on! That makes me happy
Wonderful!
Great job George
Thanks, we were pleased too!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I enjoy seeing the process and what is sold
Cool! I hope to help do one in Spokane next year
@@TheAntiqueNomad That would be fun!
So fun. Great video.
Thank you 🤗
Hi George, We’ll be leaving for Florida next weekend. I hope so much I can attend one of your estate sales on the West Coast. I don’t mind traveling. I hope to meet and thank you for all your knowledge. I have learned so much .
That's terrific! I look forward to seeing you. Are you headed to Mt. Dora for the Nov. 18-20 antique extravaganza?
Amazing job George, as always learned a lot. Thanks so much. You truly are The Professor of all things 💚
Well most things maybe lol
I have watched a few of your videos...I found you because I have been watching Real Nifty Vintage channel...I have now subscribed...you are calm...I like that
So many smiles during this video...thank you. The restaurant was lovely, you circle it and I see a sign with my last name on it (I'm totally curious what it said because I couldn't read it even in a still) so you have my attention. LOL The neighborhood is such a gem...and that house (sigh). Yes, the tree is glorious but thought number two is to question what damage it has or will do to the structure. This house is really such a good size (probably because it came from a more practical era), makes you wonder why we need to build McMansions these days. You did very well at cleaning the place out and no wonder, he had some nice items. Fun to watch as always and an education along the way...thanks again for letting us tag along. 😊 P.S. I will remember the "eyebrows to knees" placement factoid...you are a font of knowledge!
The sign you saw was for Ken Welch. He just won for mayor of St Petersburg.
The nice items made a difference! We're all hopeful that St. Pete will do a better job listening to their historic preservationists and keep these lod nieghborhoods intact. I'm not McMansion oriented either, the layout was great!
Yes
Mainly did!
George, I wanted to reach in to my screen and buy the Book of Genesis print.
And it was in Latin! I have to BOLO for one. Another great video,
kind sir!
ps.... George, you must be the busiest guy in the biz; flying in and out of places, doing flea market and antique shows, commandeering estate sales, have umteen booths around the US, have a RUclips channel, doing your chats and live sales, out sourcing for your business, and you even reply to just about everyone here in the comments section.
DO YOU EVER EAT OR SLEEP?
pss....maybe I shouldn't ask but I will, what percentage do you typically charge when running an estate sale? Do you charge extra for house cleanup and trips to the dump and donation centers? Again, thank you for making me into a more informed buyer of vintage. You simply are the best!
Oh so much fun!! I loved every bit of this! ☺️ Great pricing too!
Thanks so much George! 🖐🏽
🤎Maddy
Thank you Maddy, it was something different to show!
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
I am really enjoying your videos and how thorough you are. One thing I would like for you to do if you can: date the videos. I have a hard time following which ones go together as a single story and I love to follow up with an additional one you have posted. Best wishes always and thanks!!
I’m starting to do that in the description
Very great video. Your knowledge is amazing. Thks.
You’re so welcome!
Fabulous episode, George. So interesting and enlightening, being taken through the whole process. How I would've loved just seeing
that copy of *The Boys in the Band*! (I've been s bibliophile for decades.)
There were several neat books! He has an interesting intellect
Wau! Good job. Sales like this NEVER happend i DK 😒 Been to one 25 years ago. I’t’s just not a thing here. Love to have been there . Would have been a good little shopper 😉
Thank you! They're seldom held in some parts of America where auctions are preferred (for reasons unclear to me). I hope perhaps it will catch on there, they're quite fascinating
Hi George. What a b amazing about of cool stuff. I so intrigued by your videos.
I’m glad! I want to keep them interesting
Your fun to watch 😊id love to buy the Genesis in Latin 💞to bad this is a year ago,and the wardrobe 😊
