Exploding dice, my friend. I know it was only vermin and you wanted to end the video. But your fighter dropped an 8 and might have rolled high enough to take another enemy. Then your cleric dropped a 7 which also explodes. Might jave saved your lightning bolt, and you'll probably need all your spells to get thru the whole dungeon.

Bacon is good but your videos are better.
I've never had a problem with encounters being too hard or too easy. My games are deliberately designed to be asymmetrical.
Combat is a consequence.
