I was in the stadium for this. The throw looked good to me and I was outraged when it was called a foul. Couldn't stop laughing when I got home and saw the amended result.

It really is sad on that throw, boundaries are useless in this kind of competition.....measure from the baseline to the distance thrown....done. It isn't baseball with a foul line. The idea is to see how far the athlete can throw, period.

I agree, but there should be at least some kind of boundary so javelins athletes don't take advantage and start throwing off to the side, which could be dangerous for athletes on the track

TXV1300R I understand. I just don't see how they can take advantage......100m to the side or forward is the same distance....it clearly isn't a competition about accuracy, but rather, sheer distance.

+Henry Hamilton actually, about boundaries, I think having boundaries makes it just that bit harder for the athletes, so they'll have to focus more on training for distance and accuracy. Also, since the sport derived from spear throwing, which involved accuracy rather than distance, the sport still should have an element of precisive accuracy in my opinion

When I was in High School and competing in a track meet. My javelin throw was called out of sector, but what happen was my point touchdown inside the sector foul line and the rest of the shaft fell out side the sector. The landing official said the point hit the line and the javelin fell over out of sector. But you could clearly see the whole in the ground where the point landed first. Well anyway my Coach argued the fact it landed first in side the foul line, but the head judge wouldn't over turn the field official decision. It would have been a PB for me.

Con respecto a ese magnífico lanzamiento anulado a Julius Yego, me viene a la mente la frase de Jesucristo: "Si vuestra justicia no fuere mayor que la de los escribas y de los fariseos, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos".-
