I had to remove the steel toes from my boots, wrong size caps installed from the factory.I made a cut across the top and pried them out. I used the superglue technique from this video to fix the cuts and used baking soda to accelerate the cure. It also had more mass to blend the cut with the surrounding leather. I'll try to remember to report the results next month.
I was skeptical about this but wow it works!! I thought I'd have to buy some epoxy but after watching this I tried the super glue and they're good as new now
So, at :50 and 1:10 you are spraying SOMETHING on the boot. I have listened to it 5 times and cannot understand what you are calling it. Please put it under your comments section.
Hi Faviola, It is basically the same stuff as Crazy Glue, but they come in very small bottles{0.07 oz}, I get one ounce bottles from a Shoe Repair supplier,if you have an account with one, I suggest search the internet for Cyanoacrylate, at least 20 grams or 1 Oz to be safe, no gel, it is also very helpful to get an Cyanoacrylate accelerant, it is possible to do it without it, the problem is that Cyanoacrylate is an anaerobic compound, doesn't like oxygen and it takes up to 20 minutes to dry depending how thick the layer applied is, also necessary that layer dry completely before applying the next one or sanding
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience and keeping it simple.
