  • The rich man had pride, the beggar no pride.
(Watch the sermon here: • Humble Yourself: Beg, ... )
When we learn how to beg for Christ, when we learn how to plead, when we learn how to ask persevering, really that is when God answers our prayers.
We need to become better beggars.
Not only do beggars have no pride, beggars are always begging, never thought you'd say Amen to that, Huh? Beggars are always begging.
    Why?
Because the beggar realizes that he doesn't know where his next meal is coming from.
That's why the Bible says that we should pray every day, Lord, give us THIS DAY our daily bread.
In fact, when the Bible says, "ASK," you know Jesus talking about the Lord's prayer, and he says, when you pray, ask, don't ask for these things. Ask for these things. That word that he uses. Ask. If you look it up in the strong's concordance, the word actually means beg.
Now we take the word to mean pray. But the definition of the word is beg. So then that way when Jesus is saying, ask and you shall receive the same word is used. It means beg.
So we take the word, ask to mean pray, but according to the Bible, prayer is equal to begging.
Well, I know how many of us don't get our prayers answered because we need to become better beggars.

I now understand that Jesus was speaking of Himself in the character of Lazarus. In the parable, Lazarus like Jesus was 1. Homeless Matt. 8:29. 2. Impoverished 2 Cor. 8:9. 3.Had sores-sin, Jesus became sin for us. 2 Cor. 5:21. 4. Hungry- Matt. 11:12 and Mk. 4:2-4 5. Helpless- dogs (Gentiles-Roman soldiers), licked His wounds by offering wine mixed with gall while He hung on the cross. I believe the parable was in fact a reference to Himself and His life of suffering on behalf of humanity and soon He would find comfort in the bosom of His Father where He initially came from. Thank you for helping me to gain a better understanding.

My dad always told me that "a beggar does not choose" and so it is true, we cannot have pride when we are in need, in need of God's Word. Whatever challenge we have, we have to fight it to get to Christ because we have no need! Praise the Lord Pastor Ivor for letting the Lord use you! Praise the Father! Amen!

I claim this that the Lord WILL help me through my current situation, that I will NOT lose my house and WILL be given the means to sustain financially, as I'm almost out of money (not even a month's worth of bills) and He WILL surprise me soon, in the next week or so, with that provision. In Jesus's precious name I pray and claim this. So be it!!
I so needed to hear this sermon. Although my situation is very scary and upsetting, this feels like a message from God to let me know He does hear my cry and will provide. Thank you and God bless all of you at the Campbell SDA. Please, please pray for me. Happy Sabbath!

Preach Pastor! He said “Lord forgive us for our slowness”. When it’s from the heart, it hits different. ❤️

It has been 8 months since I was baptized, and every one of your sermons that I have listened to has spoken to me. I feel so blessed that God speaks through you and I get to receive it. May God always speak to us through you in your own special way. You are truly blessed and loved by God.

to be a beggar that is (by implication) to become indigent (figuratively): - become poor....WOW I never knew this. I have not spent enough time begging my Heavenly Father for Bread from His Word. Forgive me Lord Jesus. Give me Your Manna each day and a desire to beg for the crumbs. Give us, Your people Your daily Bread.

The rich man became self righteous and prideful he kept the blessings that God had bestowed upon him instead of sharing his blessings with those in need.
