- Once the Hebrew Sanctuary was built, God appeared.
Exo 40:34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
In fact the entire purpose of the ancient Temple was to enable God to BE WITH Israel.
Exo 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
But something happened. They began to transfer the solemnity of God onto the building. Almost deifying the temple itself. Perhaps in some cases holding the priests in too high a regard.
The result was a stagnation of the gospel. You see, the original temple was mobile. Therefore God and His word were mobile. But once Israel focused on the temple, it became stagnant as did their mission.
Is it possible that we do the same today? Have we limited the word church to a building, thus rendering it and its mission stagnant?

Amen for the word of God! I always wondered why we stopped having house worship. I’ll never forget when Elder Bell and his wife would come over and worship with us. Lord my house is open lead me Holy Spirit in what to do. I’m willing Amen🙏🏾
I want to go home so bad! I want to be on fire so the message is delivered and Jesus returns.

Amen i want to start a house fire with the guidance of the holy spirit.
And the SDA church loves to uproot the pastors at random instead of the lay people/disciples moving from place to place building families of God (not necessarily church buildings). It's so much more productive to plant a seed, water it, and take the new seeds from the fruit it bears and plant them somewhere else, water them, take those new seeds from the fruit those bear and plant them somewhere else, repeat. God is a God of family. The family structure is set up the same way: Parents plant seeds called children, they water them with knowledge and wisdom and allow the children to bear fruit that is to be carried on from generation of seeds to generation of seeds. That's who God has been the whole time. The SDA church better get ready because we're about to set some house fires. Thank you for this timely sermon.
Amazing how after hearing this message I can look back at how the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me. I’ve been considering retiring and God has been talking to me about visiting people I know. Thank you Ivor. God Bless

Jesus will build the house His church
My first Christian experience was in the Pentecostal church before becoming an Adventist. We had what you call 'home group' once a week at evening. There were several of these group springing from the same church. It was so power that come Sunday you couldn't wait for worship.
Before my friend and i realized, the church pastor was asking questions us. "Brother Kuno, these two boy are powerful, which home do they belong to?" was the question the pastor asked.
My own mother realized the same thing, and she expressed it this way, 'this church that you just joined is powerless compared to the one you attended previously'.
I can go on and on concerning this subject... Its been burning in me and I believe now its time to go back to the ancient paths.

Last Wednesday, we started a bible study with a group of college students. Our first meeting was 4 people. Last sabbath afternoon, there were 10 people came. They told me they will bring more people this coming sabbath. 9 out of 10 attendees are non-adventist. It is really a house fire. I can feel this style of worship can bring people closer than traditional church worship!

Roseburg SDA Church in Oregon has house fires and it is awesome! Really getting to know and care for one another is a blessing. We set up Friday night Family groups after an evangelist meeting. New and prospective members along with established members form each group, like 10 people. We potluck, fellowship, watch an Amazing Facts series and pray. 2 hours total. We love it!

OMG,. This is a powerful message. I believe this is why the church is stagnant. Lord help us as a church refocus and stop playing church and be about His business in spreading the good news of the Gospel. Thanks Pastor for this, it's eye opening and heart jerking to want to move and do as the 1st Church did in Acts 2. Help us Lord to do your will I pray in Jesus precious name Amen.

As someone who returned to God (and returned to attending SDA church) I was having a hard time with the church as I'd remembered it - the formalism - generic schedule -(sit down stand up and sing, sit down, offering......the same every week.....) going to church and no one even knowing if you went .....and not relating to the "culture" and "jargon" of SDA and wanting dynamic spiritual and real connections - and beating myself up for not liking church...

House that Solomon built form idolaters. Used to be on front line “alone” because no one in churches wanted to witness and were set against it attacking ministry. But notice when born again on fire for Him, He sent me many people to bring to churches, but persecution was not only from without but from within for 30 years so I left because Spirit was merciful. They were so jealous of all the people you brought in so they attacked!

You say God didn't tell David that Solomon would build the temple as Nathan was not told that. In 1Chronicles 28:6 it is saying God told David it would be his son Solomon that would His house. If you through that out what else do we through out that people say God told them to do or to keep? I'm not saying your message is wrong just not all the facts are not correct.
First off, is your name really Al Myers?? You are first and only Al Myers I've ever known beside myself! :). As I stated in my message, 1 Chron.28:6 is not God speaking. Rather, it is David speaking. In the original account God simply tells David that his son will build him a house. David assumes God is talking about Solomon, but God never calls Solomon by name. See the original account in 1 Chron.17:11-15.

I know that David is speaking, but he says in 1Ch 28:5,6 "And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel. And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father." David is says God told him that Solomon would be the son to build the temple. Now either David is not telling the truth and God did not tell him that or maybe he misunderstood what God told him. Either way there is a false hood in these verses if God did not tell him.
@@alfredmyers1644 I would not say there is a falsehood as in deception. I would say that David is telling how he understood it. He understood this to mean his son Solomon, but God never specified what son he was talking about. Also, God never said to David that it was because "he had shed blood." What God said to David through the prophet Nathan is recorded in 1 Chronicles 17:4-15. Neither Solomons name, nor the idea of David shedding blood is mentioned by God. Just as Eve told Satan that God said not to "touch" the tree or they would die, so David is unintentionally adding his own understanding. The very counsel of God was that he did not need a house. See verses 4-6. David though God needed a more splendid house, but God is not into splendor. Anyway, I do appreciate your thoughts. Thank you Al.
@@powerofthelamb The story of what Nathan said, that God told him to tell David, is in 2 Samuel 7:8-17 and 1Chronicles 17:4-15. This is the promise to David. In 1Kings 6:12 and 9:5 God is telling Solomon "then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father". That would be the physical fulfillment of what God had told David about a son being on the throne of Israel. It also has a spiritual meaning in Jesus being the son of David and being on the throne of spiritual Israel not physical Israel. The two Israels, physical and spiritual, have the same problem, they are worshiping a god their fathers did not know, as the bible says that the physical Israel did and God forsook them. Spiritual Israel is following in the footsteps of physical Israel.
Pastor Myers, you stated in this message that God did not give David the plans for building the Temple. However, that does not seem to be the case. How do you explain this scripture?
1 Chronicles 28:19 NKJV - “All this,” said David, “the LORD made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.”

God never fail, and each time He wake me up early in the morning He bless me. What a blessing message for His church.I wich more of my friends and relatives would have access to your sermons but most of them only speak french. But I will watch this again and again, take notes until I will be able to share it with all the people I know. I have learned:
1.Never use your insecurities to claim that God did not grant you a duty because of that.
2. Always ask God in prayer for Wisdom when you do not understand. Do not draw personal conclusions and claim it is God.
No Man can know God's mind than God Himself!

People are so selfish and selfcentered that they even misuse the bible to GET OUT OF THE CITY... while they are in the city they behave selfsuficient! They don't practice true religion as defined in the Bible...
