I'm 72 and not auto smart at all. Just did this to my 05 Colorado. And everything works again.Used a hairdryer for about a minute. The truck sat most of the ND winter, but its good now! Thanks Man. 😊
You sir deserve an award. THANK YOU SOO MUCH. I was totally not expecting this to work but out of desperation and fear of rain tomorrow I tried it. And boom. I now how a working window and door locks. I used a hair dryer and on low heat I moved the hair dryer about 6in away for a few mins. Felt warm so I stopped. Let it cool down and put it back together. Thanks again. I owe you one.
Was able to combine a few approaches to get to the solution: From this solution, after the first one didn't get the drivers door lock working, but the passengers did work and the drivers window worked. I REdid taking out the window / lock controller and HEATED the 2 relays for 1/2 hour and ALL Worked. The other solution I NEVER had to unhook the batter cables, I only had to take out the drivers door lock and window controller and shunt the two capacitors, then reinstall. SUCCESS. Thank You
Bless you my man. after reading all the posts and having tried the whole shunting out the capacitors trick, I removed the whole panel out of the door, took it inside and hit it with a heat gun ever so gently for about 15 secs twice. took it back plugged it in turned the key and badda bing badda boom. like a champ. bless you again
The fix that work for me was removing the locks fuse, pressing the driver window button and the lock buttons a couple of times, put the fuse back on and they worked. No need to disassemble anything.
So today the battery ran down a bit and the lock/driver window died again. I decided to try gtdodgeviper's solution of pulling out the fuse and working the switches a few times. It didn't work for me. Pulled the fuse four times and tried but no go. So back to my method. Too bad, I really wanted it to work, much simpler to perform.
Heres what always works for me: take the circuit board like you have, take a hair dryer on the warm setting and heat up the relays (black boxes) for about 30 seconds, pop it back in the car. Works every time.
That explains why the drivers side window and locks in my 2005 gmc canyon stop working in the cold winter anf start working agaim when it gets warm out again.
Very good broo video, Question: What kind of foquito does it carry in the master swich? in the colorado 2008 not only the master sandwich is lit, it does work but the bulbs do not light up and I do not know what types of bulbs they carry
Well, warming them up is much easier and less risky than desoldering and resoldering on to an 18 year old circuit board. Plus I wouldn't know where to get the correct relays in my town. So the short answer is, because it's easier to just heat them up. 🙂
@@hotoilhandsfair enough. If I figure out what pn will work, I will post it. I’m versed in soldering and electronics, and I’d rather go after the root problem, which sounds like aging, sticky relays.
I took the piece apart like you did and I ended up losing a plastic piece that lays under that grey rubber piece that the buttons press onto... and without that piece my driver window lost its auto roll up :( does anyone know where I can buy that piece back I've tried all my local junkyards :( I cant seem to find it online anyone please!
Sorry to hear that Christian. Can't find it at all eh? I thought I saw online that the Silverado had a similar window control if you are still searching the junkyards. Good luck.
If you mean shorting the solder points on the relay with a screwdriver it only worked once for me. Every other time it didn't so I stopped trying that. This method worked every time. So far. 😁

Awesome. Makes me feel good to hear I could help.

You're welcome. It makes me happy to hear that. 🙂
All I can say is WOW! Went through your procedure and heating the relays worked. Thanks!!!
Very glad it did. You're welcome.

Good to hear Pete.

Glad to hear it Mike.
I've used this fix successfully on my 2006 Colorado multiple times
The fix that work for me was removing the locks fuse, pressing the driver window button and the lock buttons a couple of times, put the fuse back on and they worked. No need to disassemble anything.
I'll try that next time gtdodgeviper. Curious to see if there's a better way.
Best solution yet. Works like a charm thanks
04 Canyon warming up the relays works for me! Thank You!
Great to hear that Danny.
Mine was intermittent window failure.... finally stoped in down position.
This worked!!
Also cleaned lightly corroded pins.
Thank you
Thanks worked for my 2005 GMC Canyon
Not only did I fix it! It looks cleaner 😂 thank you
Glad to hear it @coroeban. 👍

It sucks it didn’t work for you. Hopefully it works for someone else.
Yes, hopefully folks read all the comments and see your method too. When I think of it I might make a quick video showing that method too. Cheers.
I just tried it too didn’t work I have tried every solution I can find and my window and locks still won’t work
Thanks brother my truck worked with this trick
Glad to hear that Shockw6ve.
Use a hair dryer on high heat until you hear or feel a click. Sometimes you have to expose the green board but it works
Dude! You're awesome!!thank you!!!!
That's nice of you. Very glad if it helped. I know only too well how annoying this "feature" is.

So exactly what I said in the video then eh? Heat up the relays to free them.
@@hotoilhands pretty much! Lol
Thank you for making this
You're welcome. Hope it helped.
It work for me thank you very much you save me a bunch

I don't know Yahir. Sorry I can't help you with that question.
@@hotoilhands Thank you very much Broo, and very good content
Why not just try replacing the relay(s)?

I can hear the motor trying to work yet my window won't respond.
Sounds like you're getting the signal out of the door control Clyde. But the window motor or gears is an issue?

Screwdriver arc woks
