- Intake! S1E18 - How to Install a big exhaust on a 300zx
Today on Intake! we show you the best way to install a new exhaust system on a 300zx! These cars can be an absolute bastard to work on and swapping gout the dump pipes in no exception!
But today we have some special help from our mate Aaron at Korumburra Exhaust, and hopefully this might take this job down from requiring a slab to only a sixer!
Grab a beer or six, kick your feet up and enjoy Episode 18 of Intake! while we uninstall some terrible cast dumps and the front half of our exhaust and reinstall some shiny new noise makers! And, as we all know removal is the reverse of installation! Produced in conjunction with Forever Digital, join us as I smash out the build on Project Z!
We are on facebook, click below to stay up to date with whats happening in the world of Intake!

The channel ran on my mind today need you to come back yo
Niceeeeee more vid, more vidz, more vidzzz
@14:04 your buddy is 100% correct O2 goes into the top of the downpipe like OEM position. The spots on your test pipes are for wideband O2 sensors which are required to be slightly further down the line in the exhaust system then an O2 sensor would be. By the way innovative dual wideband is the way to go it allows you to monitor both sides of the motor from one gauge I literally install it in all of my customers cars it looks nice and it performs flawlessly if you plan on cranking up the Boost or doing a tune I highly suggest that dual wideband gauge setup. For the price it's cheaper than two individual gauges and takes up far less space could hide it in the glove box or put it on the a pillar pod or in apod under the radio definitely nice to know what your air fuel ratio is on a boosted car when you're pushing her
Still waiting for intake! to come back.
This is my favorite car channel
This is my favourite comment.
Fuck yeah this channel is great
I hit subscribed because of the beer level difficulty meter.
Solid effort mate!! Not a fun job. Wasn't too exhausting to watch 😉😉😆

Did you have to remove the brake master cylinder when you removed the precats from the passenger side or were you able to get to those bolts with it still in?
He's alive!!!

I'm sure it will sound great in the next vid.
I hope so too!
Hey mate, just got my 300zx. Unfortunately it’s an auto and NA model. But I love it to bits already, your channel is entertaining and enlightening on what’s involved with fixing it all up
sure is a Cliffhanger..... ;-; @25:02 3 years later.... ha ha every funny
Well, when I had to pull my exhaust and snapped 1 stud, found 1 already snapped, snapped an easy out into one of them, on the ground in my driveway it was about 12 carton job... took 3 weeks.
Its sounds like you need to find yourself an exhaust shop for assistance in future endeavors.
, Nah I need a bottle shop, next job on the 300... Head gaskets.
Fuck that for a home job
Need.more.vids
"Fuck it you guys like to hear loud shit" lol
Well... do you?
My turbos starting blowing oil straight through em when I put on my downpipes/straight pipes. Hopefully you don’t have that issue.
To paraphrase the great Ivan Drago; 'If they die, they die'
Then, I will have to replace the turbos with something else.
Not talkin s*** man just curious why you took those separators off the new gaskets should have had a hole in the center of them to allow you to bolt the divider up again after you install the gasket on there. It's dumb that they don't come with instructions but that's usually how those go. The gasket gets bolted to the flange inbetween that divider and then the downpipe with the attached gasket would get bolted to back of turbo. I mean you could always weld up those 2 holes that were used to bolt on the dividers if you prefer that way
Even though I put these cars on the same page as your missus coming home with genital herpes after a girls weekend in Byron bay. I highly rate this video content it cracks me up mate keep up the good work bucko.
Bad luck guy.
I have a question: Can you turn down the music? I'm not so good in english and you the music hide your voice.
Continue your video. I have a 300ZX too, a 2+2 bi-turbo LHD and I'm so happy to see other people like this car.
A little post of a french fan.
I think our video as auto generated captions which should help you out with this video Brother!
Never got a finish :(
So the hair cut is weight reduction too?
Absolutely Brother. All about the areodynamics.
What brand down pipes and test pipes did you install? How was the fitment?
I have no idea what brand they were. They came from a z32 parts guy in Australia, RGS Performance. But he doesnt sell they regularly, they came with a half built project. The dump pipe fitment was ok. The mid pipes needed a little coaxing into position.
Intake! I did mine but with my upgraded turbos it changed the angle a Tiney bit. I’m still tryin to figure my next step . Prolly Gunna have to cut and turn a flange a bit
You going to Tuned in a couple weeks?
Thinking about it.
Weld em up mate, also love the new hair style and the greys 👍🏽
What fucken greys?!
Might be some dust haha
Got em 🤣🤣
Coming to fitted or tuned in melbourne at all?
post up the dates and locations and I will try for one or two
Fitted this saturday 9th feb 4-11pm
Airport Drive
Melbourne Airport 3045
Tuned summer festival feb 17 12-4pm (think you have visited this one in one of your vids)
Greaves Reserve Bennet St
Dandenong, Victoria 3175
Why did you remove the separators? Those are the whole key behind unlocking the benefits of a divorced wastegate downpipe.
BCs300z The dividers lead to boost creep. SpecialtyZ and other top tuners now recommend that you remove the dividers.
The turbos have no built in divider so there would be an inch gap before the dump pipe divider anyway, meanjng they were truely never divided. And Brent's comment basically reinforces what we found out also.
@@Intaketv Cool. Thanks!
@@EXPLOSIVO1129 wow. never heard that. but makes sense.
@@EXPLOSIVO1129 yes boost creep with larger turbos. Not oem turbos
Ah yes, dreaded down/dump pipe install 🧐
Wait a second, Korumburra exhaust is veryyy close to me. Do you live in the area?
Intake! is brewed and bottled around the area Brother!
Intake! How do you go driving your car on the shit roads?
Got big tyres and its only in 17s. Ain't no thing.
Intake! Okay haha, just realised where your intro is filmed, my grandpa lives out there. It’s a small world!
I’m also from the same place, and had multiple straight pipes made at burra exhaust
Man wtf is up with the new content? Where is it at?
I’m pretty sure my exhaust is held together with black silicone... I should probably get a new exhaust 😂
You boys on long services leave, or out past the chookshed rootin sheep, knokitoff and get up the 300Z, righto then fuck'n LEGO. I the words of HG&Roy ewes need too take a good hard look at yourself.
Cool as hope all's well.
There has never been a single moist flange in a Subaru.
Sir, it was 45°C the other week, my wife had the sweats up when the AC gave out. So, I believe you are mistaken.
That is both most amusing and a big gross... well played.
never treat a wideband sensor like that. It wont work again. Maybe narrowband but the hammering shock would have broke the thin wire inside. Iim glad i dont own a 300z anymore , what a prick of a task.
Good news! It still works. But I need a replacement for one at some point in the future as there wasn't alot of thread left on it.

Shouldn't the disclaimer at the beginning say "drunk" driving not "drink" driving. I speak American so I must be mistaken.
Drink Driving is correct for Straya'n. Take a look at the handy government webpage that hands out licenses where I live. www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/road-rules/penalties/drink-driving-penalties
