My favorite year Trans Am is 1977/78. The real and original Bandit car. I have always loved the front end on those cars. Nice car you have there. Enjoy. Be safe.
First off... I LOVE what Papa Scott did with the Trans Am!! 2) My favorite Trans Am's.... are from 1976 through 1981. 3) I grew up around A LOT of General Motors automobiles, between the 70's and 80's.
Nice job. Burt Reynolds would shed tears looking at that. It's an ageless design, that still looks fantastic 36 years later. They always look great with the gold eagle too.
Not sure i can pick a favorite Trans-Am but i do own a 1978 black and gold bandit trans am with t tops an a 4 speed! Always had soft spot for the 77-78s, smokey and the bandit was a staple of my childhood!
Personally I like all Trans Am's, but my absolute favorite was the very first year 1969. All white with blue stripes and a spoiler on the trunk lid, tachometer on the hood 😊
My late dad owned one of the Eagle Trans Ams and ended up selling it to a local sheriff back in the day. He said the sheriff told him "no one ever got away from me again". Such a sweet ride.
Groan🙄, there's always got to be one W⚓ trying to just💩all over anything you say, ignore him. I love the look of them, to me they still look sleek and very cool. Loved the story about your dad's car too👍.
@@lorditsprobingtime6668 good to know that everyone doesn't have to be a killjoy lol. It's worth noting that it was a '77 identical to the one used in Smokey and the Bandit, so there was some extra cool factor there haha.
@@lorditsprobingtime6668 no just speaking truth. Was it a Sleek car? yes absolutely, but numbers don’t lie. the car was 237hp 320tq with a zero to 60 in over 7 seconds. My man the TA wasn’t even in the top 200 fastest cars of its era in foreign and domestic auto production. As a example a saab 9000 was faster by a long ways, a lotus Elan with 160hp was a much faster car, dodge stealth RT, Buick regal t type, Chevrolet L98 corvette, Camaro, the list is absolutely endless. I would think it was a doughnut that never got away is more likely what was spoken.
@@TheDeadeye5 not about being a killjoy and I apologize I’m not trying to ruffle feathers. I’m a car guy, that being said I got a pet peeve for these ridiculous car myths… a 77 was even slower then a 80 & 90’s era with a max Hp of 180. Once DeLorean left Pontiac the Trans Am’s performance died. Yes same guy that produced the back to the future car.
I discovered this channel after I heard you promote it on the Ballistics channel. I woulda been here long ago had I known! Love that you work with your Dad, and he’s cool!
All generations of Trans Am rock!! I couldn't pick a favorite so I'd have to say get one of them all! Hope to see you and your dad crank out another video. It's been great watching them all.
This my first time watching Kentucky Kustoms and I love it! Oh and my favorite transAm is the 1977 Smokey and the bandit 😎 since I'm an 80's baby that was the coolest muscle car to me
That's a fantastic TA. Love it! Flipping the air cleaner cover does the following: 1) defeats the cool air induction, so now you are sucking in hot engine compartment air, robbing power. 2) defeats the hot air induction on startup. This is designed to take in hot air from around the exhaust manifold to bring the engine up to temp quickly ... the number one issue with long term engine wear. 3) Sounds better, I suppose.
the 1979 black and gold is one of my favorites. I have " East bound and Down" by Jerry Reed in my daily playlist. Then it goes to a 2002 era Trans Am. I'm not sure if its as much as the Camaro's of the era sucked , or Pontiac just nailed the design better as to why I like them so much. I would never build a 4th Gen Camaro, yet some day I want a black 2002 Trans Am t-top, ram air, 6 speed manual.
Nice job on the TA...don't see too many of those anymore. Dad had a 70 TransAm SD455 4speed, white with blue stripe when I was 2 years old until I was 7...so I remember riding in it....thought it was faster than Santa Claus! Still would love to have one like it...but they are unobtanium with my budget.
It looks awesome. Your dad is a magician. So, if you notice a pickup truck parked in your dad's driveway just get working on it and I'll pick it back up in about a year...LOL. Yall take care. Love your content and how you both work together. Never lose that.
I love the seats, I have an ‘86 T.A. That I’ve owned over 30 years, and I want my seats to be the same color complete with the bird. The sparkles in the paint and the steering wheel, not so much, but to each his own. I would say my favorite generation is the 2nd I guess it’s called ‘70- ‘81. I definitely love the ‘70-‘74 when they had the big 455 engines in them, (unlike my ‘86) also like the look of the ‘77& ‘78.
I had a 1984 Black and Gold T/A very similar... the hood and wheels were different though, turbo style with the smaller bird going up it. lower ground effects were gold also with the gold fading into the body like yours
Got to see this up close in person today and man when i tell you the videos dont do it justice this car is sick i love seeing it goig down the road. The red leds in the gril is my favorite part. When i first saw it sitting in your yard i thought man that poor car doesnt look like its moved in years, it sure would be awesome if someone fixed it up!!! Scott Sr it was an absolute pleasure meeting you today, thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me. Scott Jr hey brother I met you by chance getting a haircut one day. I currently drive a 2000 WS6 6sp I have also owned 84 86 97 cars all manual I like the feel of the 3rd gen cars the best. I know the 4th gen cars are better and their drivetrains WAY better but a LS motor in a third gen car is my dream. PS my first car was the 86 trans am
I love all TAs. Growing up my dad had a 79 10th anniversary 400 4 speed and in 2005 a month before I turned 19 I bought a black 01 WS6 ram air. So I'm partial to 98 up 4th gens
Love the paint on this car! I've been a detailer for most of my life so if you guys ever need tips on keeping it as nice as possible I'd be happy to help! I love all the trans am generations but my favorite is probably a 00-02 WS6 only because my dad had one and we caused all kinds of hell in that car lol
Scott (Jr/II) you need to start a KB video by pulling up in your 79. Introduce it as a project you built with your dad, not just a very expensive hotrod you bought, and ppl will wanna check out KC. Folks don't wanna think of you as a wealthy guntuber, so make sure to emphasize that you bought it in disarray, then Kentucky Customized it. Gotta say a TA is so much better than a plain old Firebird. I pictured you as a Fiero guy personally, but thankfully I was wrong. Of course the original Bandit is the best TA, but for me personally I’m more of a Monte Carlo or 442 guy myself. Even the Dale Earnhardt tribute Monte Carlo looks good to me, somebody around here has one & it just looks sharp. Keep up the great work, loved the Knight Rider light bar, that’s a subtle touch to a great car.
Well my absolute favorite TA's are the 70-73 ones but right behind them are the 79-81 and I'm pretty partial to the 80-81 Turbo Trans AM, currently own a 81 TTA Daytona pace car I rescued and resurrected from sitting for dead for 24 yrs
My brother in law had a brand new 1977 gold TransAm when he was dating my older sister. Whenever he would stop by I would wash and detail the heck out of it so it looked perfect and then he would drive me around afterwards so I could hit on the girls at the stop lights....lol...
If you are going to modify the engine then any year Trans Am is good. But from the factory only the 1970-1972 models and the 1993 to 2002 fourth gens had decent horsepower.
Had a 78 Trans-Am, 84 Recaro Trans-Am (Still hate myself for getting rid of it!) & a 88 firebird. Currently looking for another 3rd gen Trans-Am. How about doing something with a 1st Gen firebird or Trans-Am. My favorite car since a kid is 1978 Corvette Indy Pace Car or 25th anniversary edition (same colors). Never owned one but love the 2-tone. Also lots of dodge muscle cars 68-72
What other muscle cars would you like to see on the channel? I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!
Dodge charger 1969 from duke of hazzard
Road runner!
My favorite car is the 70-73 Camaro. My first car was a 70 Camaro. I kick myself all the time for selling it 31 years ago!
1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback, please
Maybe a Chevy Nova?
GIVE YOUR DAD A CAMERA WHEN HES BORED AT HOME…some of us like watching that kinda stuff…follow the journey of how the car got that way!
I second this, most definitely!
I third this idea!!!
My favorite year Trans Am is 1977/78. The real and original Bandit car. I have always loved the front end on those cars. Nice car you have there. Enjoy. Be safe.
My dad still has one in his garage
The air cleaner lid upside down was to give the engine a louder sound. It was so cool. 86 TA

1st gen T/A 1969. Had a neighbor who had one that bought it new. I love driving it.

The ‘73 455HD is by far the best T/A ever built…….

The 1977 Firebird was one of my childhood favorites but now a days my tastes has changed but I still have a nostalgic soft-spot for them :-)
I feel that way about KITT/KARR (82 Trans AM)
All generations of Trans Am rock!! I couldn't pick a favorite so I'd have to say get one of them all! Hope to see you and your dad crank out another video. It's been great watching them all.
Please post more on this channel. They are awesome
Love anything T/A or Firebird! My favorite is the ‘79 and my first was a ‘89 Formula Firebird. Wish I still had it.
Love that car! Looks like the “Bandit” car and “KITT” had a baby!
This my first time watching Kentucky Kustoms and I love it! Oh and my favorite transAm is the 1977 Smokey and the bandit 😎 since I'm an 80's baby that was the coolest muscle car to me

Mine is the 72 with rhe duel snorkel hood scoops Brewster green..
This body style and the old Firebirds are the coolest cars ever made. My mom had one when I was a kid and I've loved them ever since. If a big manufacturer made a new car with this style they would sell like hot cakes.
This car deserved a paint job . Very well done. Beautiful car !
Louder and more power when you flip the lid. We would always do it in the winter for fun.
That thing is friggin amazing!
Beautiful car!!
Reminds me of the Gold Edition my wife had. Good Times!!

I had a '68 Firebird, great car, fun to drive.
I'm a 4th gen LS1 trans am guy. I'd love to see you all do one of those since I have a 2000 t/a. Love your trans am though for sure.
The car looks amazing, ypur fathers done an amazing job on it. Always been a fan of the old mustangs or the challenger
