You guys did a beautiful job on this ‘78 Formula! It must be a ball to drive with the new motor, 5-speed and the upgraded brakes, suspension and wheels. Best of both worlds! Perfect mix of new and old. The Dakota gauges that look like the originals are awesome!

Love that car! I bought a similar one in 1977. It was a Formula in Glacier Blue, had a blue crushed velour (it was the seventies!) interior, Pontiac 350 engine, automatic (I'm still shiftless) and Rally II wheels. At the time I was very young, so I didn't go for the Trans Am, which was a bit too ostentatious for me. So great to see something similar.

Idk I'd prefer the white trans am there ❤ But the formula is awesome as well ! Love the blue 💙

Very nice Formula !! Nice stance. Who cares if it has a Chevy engine it actually came with one from the factory.
My brother gets snubbed every time one of the Pontiac purist fines out he runs a turbo LS in his 76 Trans Am. Original 455 engine was long gone. He wanted to go fast so he went LS power. He now has a turbo LS, 1976 TA with 938 rwhp. It’s on my channel.
I may go with a LS3 to replace my Pontiac 461 in my 81 Pace car.
That’s a super nice Formula Chris.. definitely got my thumbs up 👍

I have one question. I have a ‘78 Bandit Trans Am that I totally restored and recently finished. One problem I have is I cannot find door glass. It has the original glass and they are very scratched up. The car is perfect but the door glass kills it. Does anyone reproduce them or restore them. I recently installed in door glass in my 70 Buick GSX and it made the car perfect! Any help that you can relay to me would be so appreciated! Thank you!👍👍

I see the shocks are yellow. Are they Bilstein gas shocks? I wonder if 'Restore a Muscle Car' has any experience with QA1 hydraulic shocks, and if so, what do you think of them?

The original 350 cubic inch engine for the weight of the Pontiac was way underpowered to be honest ...... Most smaller engine cars have more top end torque these day's ......... Nice looking formula firebird better than it left the factory from new .......

Hmm I don't remember Chevy engines with the Formula. But now that I think of it, it seems like the 305 was an available option on some of the firebirds. Most of the Formulas that we sold at the dealership had Pontiac engines. Formulas are rare so it is nice to see one. At the time everyone wanted a Trans Am.

1979 was the last year for the Pontiac 400 1976 was the last year for the 455

A Chevy in a Pontiac? It breaks my heart. Butler Performance can fit you up with any kind of Pontiac power plant you might want.
