- Nick talks to Dr. Martin Picard, a biologist at Columbia University whose lab studies mitochondrial psychobiology, linking together molecular processes within mitochondria with human experience. They discussed; what mitochondria are and where they came from; their role in energy & metabolism; the mitochondrial genome; the importance of mitochondria in stress & aging; how exercise, diet, and genetics influence mitochondria biology; hair graying and whether it's reversible; the mind-mitochondria connection.

Thanks!
I had white hair on my temples a couple of months after giving birth. Went away after a few months after that. I was stunned.
My daughter has autoimmune encephalitis that she is recovering from after a long delay in diagnosis. She was misdiagnosed with bipolar. It makes we wander how many others are misdiagnosed. I would love to hear you discuss the impact of red light, B1, and some RX on mitochondrial health. Dr. Chandler Marrs book about high dose B1. I would love to hear her interviewed.
Check out the master . Dr.Jack Kruse. Get her out in the sun . Hope you live close to the equator . She maybe electric sensitive. ❤
I over did spinach, chard, and other high oxalate plantfoods 20 years ago. I am paying the piper, now. 😢
My nutrition friend said, "Everything in moderation."
But no one tells you, even after huge kidney stones, tooth removal, and parathyroidectomy, amongst other issues, to give up the toxic super foods. Until author, Sally K Norton, that is.
This was very informative, hope this information gets more widespread and developed!
The colony of mitochondria has a genome varies between individual mitochondria within a cell between different cell morphologies. Mitochondria will move within a cell and tries to metabolize with molecules inside the cell.
Thank you
Dr. Jack Kruse. ❤ .
Very helpful video, especially explaining the functions of ROS of which I was not clear. Thanks to all of you.
Fascinating. It's good to know that if one feels positive emotions such as love, sympathy, caring etc our mitochondria are influenced positively. I'm extending all my love to the Palestinians at this moment, I always knew that altruism was good for the human race.
Great information!
❤ loved the detail
44:57 "What we found is that 67% of all the 25 th genes on the nucleus were either up and down in response to this graded mitochondrial defects " "The majority of the human genome seems to be under mitochondria control". Most impacted were genes coding communications proteins.
1:01:08 Actually lactate can be used by brain. It doesn't have to be converted to glucose again in the liver.
Dr. Jack Kruse, Dr. Ronda Patrick, Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Zack Bush, Dr. Joe Despensa. Your welcome
Morley Robbins and Dr. Gerald Pollack...
Nice start but there's room for more.
Yup !
Can the onset on thyroid problems affect a long standing epilepsy?
Great information but quick nothing to keep our brain mitochondria engaged and focused all the time without slipping focusing .Putting only audio is not very conducive to bring the focusing on such important talks, most words are unclear especially for none English speakers who speak English as second language.Per haps writing down what is said in this podcast is better to read and understand.

@@MindAndMatter thanks for your reply.God blessings.
Mitochondria genetics are inherited from the maternal line.
Gut ,brain relationship . Gut biome .
Also bio-electricity and hence electro-biom as I call it.
I don’t like too many commercials
No mention of methylene blue or creatine? The two most studied and promising supplements... ok.
Another video subject. Or two.

Way to many ad's. Bryan Johnson Blueprint, Ai will soon take the guess work out of it and all gurus and snake oil salesmen will soon be gone. Don't die, see you in 2500.
Old news , this guy is just a parrot ❤. Eyes mind heart and soul wide open. NO FEAR.
