This one was also on my mind. The moment that Homura realized what was...it's so painful, and why must it be her?
"Since when did I become....
A witch?!"
its still good
Since 2013 Homura Akemi.
@gummy stars omg. That is beautiful.
Since she we're a magical girl
I prefer the dub's
"When did I...
*become a witch?!*
A small touch i loved with this scene is when Homura realizes the truth, all the clocks on the buss strikes 12:00Am.
In occult beliefs, Midnight is known as the Witching Hour.
Tell that to Persona 3
Yes....and 3 AM is known as the devil’s hour.
@@jaseyrae338 As they say, the night is the darkest before dawn.
I thought it was a reference to Cinderella, as the illusion wore off at midnight
but,,,,, but no that's 3 am? 333 is like the magic number and 3 am is said to be when magic os stronger and spirits are 'easier*' to interact with
*I would've used a different word
but I donno
God I love the symbolism of the scene during Homura's realization
All the zeppelins falling from the sky and the city erupting into flame referencing Madoka bringing up the meaning of Homura's name
Homura: To burn up, Flame, Blaze, A Heart on Fire. It reminds me that Homura, for all she tries to hide it is truly the most passionate character in the series, even more so than Madoka in my honest opinion.
Too much of a good thing can be bad. So I’d def say she is the most passionate to a fault.
When you turn yourself into the antithesis just to bring back your waifu that you seen die for many years I would think so too
This was the moment, when this played. From there onward I was watching the movie with my jaw dropped. I love it so much, the music, the plot, the entire build-up to the big twist, the foreshadowing, the other, bigger, twist near the end, it's all perfect.
Ifkr, amazing show
Omg me fucking too, I was like holy shit I can’t believe this!!! I’m the best way of course. God I love this franchise
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. (Homura becomes a witch) You either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become a fucking demon!
Homura's guide to victory: Top 10 steps to become a demon
Nah, it's more like "You either Love someone so Much to become The hero of The story but You either die a hero or Love That person That you see yourself become the villain"
Anyone notice how the very end before the music calms down sounds nearly identical to a part from Symposium Magarum (Oktavia's theme)?
Arracor This song is very heavily based off of Symposium Magarum. The soundtrack for Rebellion is almost all repeats of previously used melodies.
Desa Iree
One of the things I love about Rebellion is that Homura's despair and role parallels Sayaka's in the series, the difference being that we get to actually see the internal machinations of a witch transformation and what effect accumulating all that actually has on the mind and soul from the inside, as opposed to Sayaka's transformation which was entirely external.
And then of course there's the end of the film which is basically role reversal once more. Homura is the knight who couldn't protect anyone and feels herself unworthy to so much as approach Madoka and would also rather be forgotten about, while Sayaka is the one who is confident enough and believes in herself now so that she can save Madoka and this world in Homura's place.
And she promised Homura she'd never forget (that she's a demon) her, just like Homura promised she'd never forget Madoka (even though by turning into a witch, she did).
TruthinessChibiOtaku Seriously there is so many small (and big) think you can find in Rebellion from symbolism to parallels to references. I just love this Movie.

Since when did I become.... *a sandWICH*
How dare you XD
*points a gun at him* What did you say?
Oh shit. Things got real.
hmmm a delicious homura sandwich
@@glooplovescheeseitz4563 pedophilia in a nutshell
She was the witch of love.
Rem
Oh it's you Rem. I was pretty sure you died mutiple times before.
Obsession
She was the witch of the mortal world, representing all human emotions, and love as the best/worst of them all, and acting obeying what she felt for Madoka in different ways, in different timelines, protecting her. Oktavia was the witch of love, acting merely because of the love she felt and made her turn into a witch.
@@ymireva3718 I love that perspective. Thank you
No she was the nutcracker witch
I can't express how much i love the classical elements in the whole OST; this one in particular, its just so damn beautiful.
Ikr
When did I...*_BECOME A WITCH_*?!
Since 2013 Homura Akemi.
Thor's Hammer homura akuma
hazarddex
What?
Thor's Hammer akuma means devil if you replace the e and I in her last name with u and a it comes out as akuma
Since she became a magical gurl
Madoka magica has some of the most insanely beautiful soundtracks I've heard in anything ever
That awkward moment when you realize that Homura is actually in her early twenties.
bruh omg
Isn't she like 26?
Fun fact: Homura's name can mean "flame", or a close variation of the word.
+絶望
Not just any flame, "Ho" can be interpreted as flame, and "mura" either as:
- irregular flame ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mura_(Japanese_term) )
- sudden sexual tension ( thejadednetwork.com/sfx/browse/mura_mura/ )
- can't find the obsolete reading 'mura' for 心 anywhere, but 火心 can be interpreted as heart's passion
Sudden...Sexual Tension. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@Somebody Oh I get what you mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Fun fact: Madoka actually mentions it at the start of episode 1.
The alternative title could have been "Homura's Despair"
I cried when rebellion was taken off of netflix; I was going in for 3rd or 4th rewatch.
Its still there, fuck georestrictions.
I really hate when I pay for the material and then its restricted.
if I am gonna fall into despair and lose my mind this is the song for it
Same. Gotta turn into a witch like a boss, ya know?
Mine would be either Sayaka's "Decretum" or Sayaka's other 2nd despairing/witch theme from the 2nd movie Eternal "She Is a Witch"
" I’m not a magical girl anymore... "
" But.. when... did it even.. happen? "
" When did I... *BECOME A WITCH!?* "
she carries the entire show
“It’s true…I’m not a magical girl anymore.
How could this happen?
How?
Why?
Why would I end up as this? When did it even happen?
When did I….
*become a WITCH?!*
Homura means "Flare"
This scene is Homura becoming a witch after falling into despair.
Flame of Despair.
She was in so much pain..;-;
Poor Homu Homu

"How could this happen?
How?!
When did I...become a witch?!"
Who’s hyped for the sequel to Rebellion to come out?
I am a bit surprised (?) at its title apparently being "Tides of Walpurgis" or Turning The Tides Of Walpurgis, something like that... mostly because Walpurgis hasn't been 'a thing' for the Madoka series in a while. I know about the concept movie trailer, and I am interested if that's where they're going.
I just hope it won't turn into... I dunno, longer time travel backwards to actually fighting Walpurgis again...
We're almost there gamers
@@st.altair4936even closer now
1:07 who else thought that this little part sounded like Sayaka’s theme? Just me? Okay.
@Lapis Lazuli Circus pretty sure that's intentional-ish?
most if not all of the same instruments, same key, similar bpm, same vibe, there's one melody in Flame of Despair that's ripped STRAIGHT outta Symposium Magarum at like 1:36
and why? well, i guess this it's just a good way to portray the emotions that go through you as your humanity slips away and you slowly, painfully shift into the regret and sorrow of a Witch's body
Well most of the Madoka Magia theme's are basicly remixes of the ones that already exist, not to mention that Sayaka already has good themes so yea. No wonder why
I love Yuki Kajiura my favorite composer
This is one of the most beautiful songs in Rebellion! It has such feeling and expresses Homura so well! Btw Homura is best girl!
Also the end is like Symposium Magarum (Poor Sayaka :( ) and most of the song also sounds a bit like that too.
Love the fan art!
Same for Pulling My Own Weight
Shadow Sonata Yup! It’s a nice soundtrack and I like the feeling it gives me at some parts! It makes me think of a nostalgic place I’ve never been to before and only visualised with parts of other places I’ve been too.
最後らへんオクタヴィアのテーマが入ってるの好こ
The OST is so underrated
This ost never fails to capture the beauty of falling into complete despair. A waltz into insanity.
Althoug i love this track, it's just not the same with out the dolls screaming Gott ist tot
Angry Bidoof ikr that was so cool ;3;
'God is dead'
Actually, in this segment, they are chanting Fort-Da! Meaning Gone and There respectively. These were the words Freud's grandson would repeat when he would throw away and grab back a reel of string (like the one that is seen in the movie) This was seen by Freud as a coping mechanism for Separation anxiety. In this case, it refers to Homura allowing Madoka to be cast away into Godhood, but reeling her back in when she couldn't take the separation anymore, the chant mocking Homura's desperate attempt to discover the witch when it was her all along. Yeah, Rebellion is pretty much the masterpiece of non-explicit storytelling, using symbols, concepts and music instead.
*_GOD IS DEAD! GOD IS DEAD!_*
When did it even happen?
When did I........ᏴᎬᏟᎾᎷᎬ Ꭺ ᏔᏆᎢᏟᎻ?!
Redacted by O5 cammand.
That font is awesome
What font is that?
At the end of hope is despair.
At the end of despair is hope.
Why is it so?
For it is the same, only despair and hope are two sides of the same coin.
Cross the horizon to find your end.
And this is why I love both the anime and rebellion because of the good music that had effort into it
As you all know, Homura means 'Flame'
I love the OST. Making up my own little lyrics to them is so fun!
This song is actually an arrangement of Symposium Magarum!
And it took me a while to realize that because I kept humming this song, only to then start humming Symposium Magarum.
Man.. It took me a bit to figure out Rebellion's story, especially when Homura became a witch and other stuff..
I am anything _BUT HAPPY_
"until she realizes.. she can *never* save Madoka.."
Homura's name literally means "flame". You could also read the song's title as "Despairing Homura".
My favorite moment in the whole movie
It's like a mix between symposium magnum and she is a witch
*#HomuraNoHizoNadaMalo*
Add to my Playlist *Homura Akemi* my favorite character in this series.
One of my favourite meduka mageka ost 😳😳😳
0:11 The illustration is based on the openings of ef - a tale of memories and ef- a tale of melodies
all these images are awesome
I love the Madoka series.
When she said Since when did i become a witch i quess she always did cause maybe she didn't transform into a witch for running in those timelines and her despair was getting even bigger and for all those curses she get to become a *DEMON*
Homura became a witch because she used to feel so much affection and love to Madoka. She used to try to save her for 12 years and it became her only goal.
I think that the grief seed was planted when her SG turned black during the Walpurgis fight and after she lost Homura for sure and then it was growing slowly.
What makes me feel sad is that when she decided to try the thing with the SG, she was not still fully aware of herself and she was really desperate about it which might have accelerated the whole process.
After several years I realized what she meant by "I was waiting for this moment". She was waiting for Godoka to come to her, because turning back time would be useless this time since Godoka wish influenced also the very past events across the whole timeline (both directions) and going back would not bring her back, because her very existance was removed from the world and all timelines.
This series is really something.
that last pic though..so true.
Glad to see Homura takes care about discography👍
Forta! Forta! Forta! Forta! Forta! Forta!
Homura's name can be translated into flame... Homura of despair :,(
i like this more than symposium magarum
theyre both great tho
Fort! Da!
Fort! Da! Fort! Da!
It's actually "forter" which is German for the word "torment"
Ashlee's Bathroom forter isn‘t a proper German word to my knowledge.
There is „folter“ which means torture, torment would be more akin to „qual“
That being said „Fort! da!“ could very well be a japanese mispronounciation of „folter“
This reminds me when she become a witch !!
Kenny Fan Because that's the music that played over the bus scene
A part of it sounds like Oktavia's theme.
The entire thing is literally Symposium Magarum played andante.
Pretty much every ost is just a remix of an old post from the show
" a ritual done with no regard to others deserves no respect "
goosebumps
hom-hom just needs a hug. (but it aint enough)
Am I the only one getting a major Symposium Magrum vibe?
Nope :3
Afazel Araya Symposium magarum is an OST from the original series.
It uses the same chord sequences, tonality (the key of A minor), and meter (triple meter). It's rather clearly the underlying chords of Symposium Magarum with new instrumental figuration.
Pretty sure it's Mada Dameyo
It's a slower smoother descent compared to Symposium Magarum
So who do you think is stronger? Homulilly or Walpurgisnacht? Homulilly did use a barrier while walpurgisnacht doesn’t even need one, however Homulilly’s barrier is huge enough to encompass all of Mikitihara, her abilities displayed against Kyubey would match her against walpurgisnacht in terms of offensive capabilities, really it would come down to defense, which walpurgisnacht is probably much stronger in, but we haven’t even really seen Homulilly’s full power since during the fight against Madoka and the squad she was trying to sacrifice herself instead of actually fighting back. Homulilly stands a fair chance at defeating walpurgisnacht and that is terrifying for only being a single witch. Kriemheld Gretchen doesn’t count since the reason Madoka got that powerful in the first place was due to karmic destiny stacking up again and again.
*Fort Da! Gott ist tot*
That hits me anytime.
Where did you get the pics at 0:25, 0:41 and 0:58? They're just awesome!
I ADORE 1:09
Fort! Da!
Fort! Da!
FROT! DA!
*FROT! DA!*
I bet akemi homura is the strong character in all anime , why?? Cause she can stand up even she already see his best friends all die over and over again , even in the last she will fight againts his best friends , i bet if luffy or naruto as the same position as akemi homura , they will definitely give up or they both lose their mind , and also she have half power of god , she can even re-create the universe
Agree
And at that moment. Homura knew.
She fucked up.
Spoiler alert!!
The perfect song of homura's transition between "magical girl" and a witch
at times it sounds like "funeral of a marionnette"
*mY dEspAiR*
i heard the symposium magarum!!
Just so you know, homura akemi means beautiful flame
やっぱり曲調とかが似てるからかして、ハリーポッターが頭をよぎる
I heard a bit of Symposium Magarum in there, near the end...Was I the only one who heard it in the violin?
Images links? They are perfect
homura is awesome but why a demon why 😭 😭 😭
I listening to this and half way through I stopped and said "god damn it I'm going to f**kin' cry"
Since when did i become...
A bitch?!
since you came to existence LMAOOOOOOOOO
(not referred to you im sure u r a fantastic pearson)
I think I heard a bit of Symposium Magarum in this
This OST sounds like "Lacrimosa" of Mozart :0
So she forgot that she was a witch, Cause actually she became one when she made a contract with kyubey
Yuki Kajiura's a fuckin genius
sounds like Symposium Margarum
What are the string instruments used in this song?
Where did you get the pic at 1:07? I LAV it

Can anyone hear a touch of Symposium Magarum?
0:13 aren't those the english lyrics to connect?
BrinaFlautist Makes sense, they're from her point of view, aren't they?
+BrinaFlautist i think they are
fort da!
"あ、これが わたし の 舌某
絶望だろ
This sounds like Oktavia’s song....
why is this not on spotify
*forter forter forter forter*
**torment torment torment torment**
1.) That would be Folter
2.) It's actually 'Fort! Da!' if I remember correctly.
It references an experiment by Siegmund Freud where a child threw a toy away (Fort!) but also wanted to hold it (Da! - Child speech). Homura is experiencing that same dilemma. She realises that she wants to be with Madoka but her only choice is to have Madoka as far away from her as possible because she is a witch.
Hameru lost it
Nagito doesn’t approve
