Weather plays an important role in traveling. You looked tired and melancholy with overcast skies. What a difference blue skies add to a productive day of exploring.
20:34 now that is a tongue twister! Great vlog, thank you for taking us thru these museums!
What a difference sunshine 🌞 makes
It's peak summer season. You're in a very popular tourist spot, for both New Zealanders, and travellers. It's gonna be expensive!
I like these financial guides of yours, Gabe! Most helpful I have found.
Another fabulous break from my work day. Thank you Gabe! You're our hero! 🙌
I watch you tube on my phone during my work. I'am a guard at the lobby of
a hitech building.
The flora is so incredibly beautiful everywhere there on the North Island 😍😍😍
Thank You Gabriel for Another Amazing Adventure🙂💙👍
gabes swagger levels are off the charts once again
Great video. Such an interesting country, really enjoyed watching your experiences and adventures here.
I don't know how Gabe handles the jet lag so well. It kicks my butt❤
Pays to stick to your home turf’s time zone and live according to it, if you can.
New Zealand looks different than other
places. Itsmagic...
It's boring as shit
Thank you very much for the videos about Auckland and surroundings. I like them a lot. Everything is so fascinating!
The hiking trails and hut system is world class.Very affordable.Summer camping is good stable weather and good sites. Tourist information centres everywhere. So easy.
I so enjoyed this. I'm really hoping that your next destination will be Australia. I've been a fan for a long time and rarely miss a video. Thank you for showing me these places that otherwise I'd never see. I often feel that you're a dear friend and that I've known you forever. Thank you for talking me along to all these wonderful places!
He has done Australia before.
@@TheMl145 Just a tiny bit. Hardly "done Australia".
Hey Gabe, if you're still in NZ, you might want to go out of your way to try some New Zealand lemonade fruit! They are said to taste like lemonade, hence the name, and they look very beautiful and tasty, and I think you would enjoy them
Very enjoyable, Thanks Gabe!
Gabriel, it's cold 🥶 here on Kauai. Got up to 60°. I'm wearing a hoodie as I watch your video.😂
Head south to Hobbiton, and Rotorua(bigger town with lots of cultural villages, redwood forest from CA, and I saw a Kiwi at Te Puia cultural village), Taupo(lake town, ate in an airplane, found lemon slice), Napier(art deco town, cool) Wellington(nice city, good food, found a Cambodian place to get Amok).
Sausage sizzle is a bbq'd sausage in a slice of bread with mustard/ketchup, or a piggy in a blanket as we used to call them. Sausage sizzles are very popular in Australia and people use them to raise money for clubs and such.
keep it in your pants
Got it, good to know.
So basically just a sausage 🌭 in a bun like everywhere else in Europe and North America
@@GabrielTravelerVideos and if you end up going to a party where there are far more males than females just say “there’s more sausage than a Bunnings car park” and people will know what you’re talkin’beet

Kiwi (the fruit) isn’t called Kiwi here. They are Kiwifruit - one word, like Grapefruit. It’s only foreigners that shorten it, though we are getting pretty used to it these days!
I'm not getting used to it, I friggin' HATE it when everyone except Kiwis and Aussies get it wrong!
Helpful, thank you!
@@cadifanMate, if you get so emotional about foreigners calling a Kiwifruit a Kiwi and are full of hate for well-meaning people who misarticulate the name of it, I’d hate to know how anything else in life does not enrage and upset you.
In other words, this matter seems like a small thing to
become so upset about.
17:28 That looks very nice and serene
Hopefully you get this in time before heading back towards Auckland. Can I suggest that you go via Opononi and the Hokianga harbour, then down through the Waipoua Kauri forest stopping at TaneMahuta (a giant Kauri tree). Then go to the Kai-iwi Lakes where you can have a swim in the fresh water if you want to. Baileys Beach next and if you go a few hundred yards south along the beach, you will find a seam of lignite ( unpetrified wood, and not sign posted) running through the cliffs, which has an entire tree trunk lying on it's side, near beach level, around 80 feet below the cliff top. Then head to Matakohe to see the Kauri gum museum. Those are some places a lot of people miss
This is the exact route I suggested the other day to him , definitely the way to head back south, amazing places
Oamaru town on the South Island is an interesting stop used in a lot of movies these days for it's old charm.
Great to see you in our country , hope you are coming to Dunedin in the South Island. I have followed you for a number of year and being part Greek part Māori hope you enjoy New Zealand as much as the Greek Island😎
It is so nice to see that people in New Zealand so much appreciate indigenous Maori culture today and that many towns and villages have Maori names. USA and Australia can learn much here. And yet another interesting fact: Gabriel, if you believe or not, you are now in the same time zone as the South Pole in Antarctica is (The Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station embraced this New Zealand time because all flights to McMurdo station depart from Christchurch, New Zealand and, therefore, all official travel from the pole goes through New Zealand).
Tons of places in the USA and Australia have indigenous names, including many of the state names: Iowa, Massachusetts, Wyoming, the Dakotas, to name a few. When I was in Australia I spent a few days in Wagga Wagga.
How is there only one tribe for both islands? All I hear about are Māori?
@ because that’s who settled the islands, one people but many different clans within them. The Chatham Islands to the south had the Maoriri people who were related to them
@@MomentswithDavid its a small country that just got settled by one people
But there is no a full blooded Maori.
You finally made it to my country awesome ❤️🇳🇿🇳🇿
One bit of advice for tourists - off the tourist routes the tracks and huts quickly get a lot rougher. "Tracks" can be just some tin triangles on trees in the real back country. So be aware and be warned!
The best and most beautiful country I’ve been to, if anyone does have the chance to visit New Zealand 🇳🇿 please do it. Amazing country.
What makes it the best?
@@SamWhite-no6ddfull of New Zealanders 😂😂😂😂

Born in New Zealand. Only other countries I’ve been to are Australia and 6 countries in South America. And they’re all equally as beautiful. And a lot more fun. Unless you like fishing hunting and winter action sports. Otherwise what the other guy said it’s boring as shit.
@ maybe it’s you?
I was there in 2001/2 and it was 3.5 NZ dollars to the Pound. It was so cheap back then if visiting from the UK. Great fishing in Bay of Islands. Also sea kayaking around there is amazing.
I love seeing what people eat!
You have to try a meat pie from any local bakery. There are various fillings and they are great
How are they different from empanadas?
@ Sorry I wouldn’t have a clue as I have never tried an empanada
Beautiful sunny day and not too hot. Thanks for revisiting the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and the Stone House. Lovely tour of the whole area. Loved the walk to the waterfall, very relaxing music. Thank you. You need to try a sausage sizzle (bbq sausage sandwich with onion and sauce) very tasty. ☀️❤
Very nice tour to NZ and the stone house 🏡I enjoyed and thanks!
You should do the Tongariro Crossing. Amazing hike and scenery
Mutiny on the Bounty is a fantastic movie.
Trunk Sale are Boot Sales.
The Hood of a car is called its Bonnet.
It is not very expensive. Dorms for 15-35 euros and private rooms for 70-100 euros. Similar prices like in Europe. Cheaper than Australia. Tickets and tours are expensive, but there are not many places where you must pay a ticket. All public toilets are free, what is awesome fact.
You should definitely go to Rotorua it's incredible, go explore the lakes (18 of them) and the cultural and geothermal areas .
Everything has become expensive in New Zealand. The country is currently in a recession and cost of living crisis
💡👍Brilliant !!
If and when you go to the southern island, try to see the Kea and the Kakapo parrot. To see Kakapo you need to go onto Codfish island (prohibited). The Kea parrot will take your car apart.
Hey Gabe u really need to try a steak n cheese pie from a bakery while ur here
You should head to Russell, which is pretty close by to Paihia as well.
Interesting place 👍👍
I like learning about it on YT but based on what I've seen so far I have no desire to travel there 👎
I know Kiwi's are nocturnal and hard to see in the wild, but have you seen any elves? They are more active during the day.
elves are terrifying
No elves yet, but I did see some hobbits. Looked like they were going on some sort of big adventure.
The Maori accent is strange and sounds very nice to me.😊I like their customs and culture, their wood carvings are amazing!😊👍

Hey Gabriel,,, When you start heading south from Auckland, I really do suggest you have a look at Raglan, just 2 hours from Auckland on the West coast. It is a great seaside town, and as I have followed you for years, I know you would really like it there. Also, for some more really good places to visit, Rotorua and Taupo, these three places will give you a great kiwi experience. I hope you actually read the comments your followers take the time to write to you, especially when they live in the Country you are visiting and want to help you see some awesome places. All the best.
About time you saw that movie, a great classic .
its great value for Americans.. this is why kiwis have it tough in Europe and USA.. everything is double..
beautiful country for sure.... head on down to wellington... lots to see on the way down...
lake taupo... the kapiti coast is a nice drive into wellington...
then stay in wellington... head down to the south island and then you really see some beauty down there too...
Not all of Europe. We in Sweden feel the pain too when visiting countries that has the Euro as currency, 1 euro used to be 8 Swedish krona, now it's 11.50.
Newzealand is such a beautiful country
Sausage sizzle is a pork sausage in a slice of bread with ketchup.
DOESN'T have to be pork ; bread has to be white ; optional onions .
They love a car boot here in the UK haha

Hi Gabe, still watching you! First one was when you had seen Mooji, what now seems a lifetime ago! I am in the Uk, our very dear friends are in Tauranga in NZ, we cannot get to see them. If you go there (?) it will be like visiting them! Enjoy your travels x

Hi Gabriel
Finally you started off the epic journey in NZ..good weather is a bonus..you are the best vlogger..most of them miss the Bay of Islands.😮surely you are an experienced traveller...well planner..juat a friendly reminder..if you don't have time..do the Rotorua thermal area ...then down south Taupo. Tongariro national park..straight down to Wellington area..ferry to South Island......on State Hwy one..to Christchurch then onto the via Mckenzie country to Queenstown...the MUST....probably you have already som ideas...Now is the Internet travel generation 😅
I've just backed from California..
Definitely cheaper in NZ...
For lunch Go to the local bakery every town and city..less expensive and wholesome..especially meat pies to try... .
For rental car say about 50 NZD..possible for bit quiet season...
I’m glad you’re enjoying your time in NZ 😊 Referring to kiwis 🥝 the picture you showed of “kiwis “ is actually the Māori people 👍🏻 they are one of the original inhabitants of NZ 😊 just to let you know if you’re not aware 😎 safe travels 👋🏻
Yes, of course. 😊
welcome to NZ, remember to keep your sun cream on, its skin cancer season, extreme UV rays pretty much everyday 10am-3pm
10:40 Don't forget Poo Poo caca! 😂
I gotta have some malt vinegar with my fried fish
Is the kiwi considered a bird or a chicken?
It's neither a boat or a ship, it's a canoe. :)
A canoe is a boat, so it's a boat.
AS IT IS a maori canoe, we all call it the maori name : waka .
@@jeremydow1432 I'm sorry but I cannot do that. I must refer to this boat as a canoe.
@@UffeUlferts SO FIRST IT WAS a boat : now it's a canoe . There are many foreign words in the English language e.g. " rendezvous ". As Maori is an official language of NZ, it's not even foreign . The Polynesians developed the waka and called it such ; so calling it for centuries before us pesky peoples came along. There are many types of canoe : this is the waka. ( we're all a bit sorry for u too ).
@@jeremydow1432 a canoe is a boat, and a waka is a canoe, therefore a waka is a boat

I say that it is not that expensive in New Zealand as many would have thought. Maybe the conversion rate (to EUR and USD - it is 1.84:1 to EUR now but was 1.59:1 in March 2022) can aid here in some way, just like in Sweden where SEK conversion rate also changed in EUR/USD favour (it is like 11:1 to EUR right now, in the past it was 9:1 at some point) and even Sweden became reasonable for European travellers because of that, cheaper than some touristy areas on the Croatian Adriatic coast. I believe that flights to New Zealand are more of a problem (duration and prices) for many world travellers as place is so remote but once they come there, it is good in majority of aspects.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, great video. Can we please clear something up once and for all... Kiwis are either the indigenous flightless bird or the colliquial name for the local people. The yummy green fruit is Kiwifruit AKA Chinese Gooseberries. If you refer to the fruit as a "kiwi" it sounds like you're either planning to eat a protected species or you're a cannibal! Looking forward to your next post.
$40 for the museum complex is expensive
Total rip
NZ officially the most expensive country to live in the world! (Just a joke...best tip to save money in NZ is to buy a ticket, pack your bags and leave)
$29 for a burger is a bit extreme, even in New Zealand, you're paying for the isolation of Paihia.
Get a mince and cheese pie or steak and cheese pie at a bakery.
A sizzle is a sausage with/in bread from the grill....
Very pretty!
Do you think you would ever go back to Austrailia and visit Austrailia Zoo? They have accomodations there now.
Sure, I'd love to see it.
Hi Gabriel, a beautiful, pleasant day I believe a car boot in the U.S. is when they lock your tires. The price of fish and chips could also be the amount you get, which may explain the price difference. Many of the Pacific Islanders like Samoa and Tongans are genetically exceptionally large people with very distinct traits.
We're not speaking about the USA
Another nice waterfall. The prices there seemed pretty similar to US prices.
Unless you're a resident there, then it's expensive.
@@UffeUlferts what are their salaries? I guess I could look it up. Do they have the european-style benefits?
@saratemp790 avg salary = 61K NZD. Free healthcare
@@UffeUlferts okay well that's somewhat similar to the US. I think the US salary is skewed higher because of the billionaires around here. Plus they get free healthcare. So it doesn't sound like they are doing too badly.
@saratemp790 NZ ranks higher for the living standard than the USA
From NZ here myself and it is become more expensive over the years since Covid sadly :( best to stick with the budgets if you can :)
It's much cheaper for people who earn in USD vs NZD

How do u manage with booking ?: do u just book a room ( two occupants) and just show up alone ?
Or dutifully declare that u travel alone ( and so pay more?)
Thank u sir
Most hotel rooms are the same price for one or two people, so it doesn't matter.
Thank u

I am surprised anyone visits here as its so bloody expensive
Most of the world is dramatically more expensive than 5 years ago. So it cancels out a bit i think
Have you been to Switzerland it's so expensive there!!!!!
I agree with @Lorraine-p4r , New Zealand prices can't (not even slightly) compare to the expensiveness of Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Denmark - in compare to that countries they are very reasonable, at least for Europeans (oil and gas are even cheaper in NZ than in my own country Slovenia that is considered as Eastern Europe by many). As Gabriel said, they are more like prices in the USA and Australia, many European countries are more expensive.
Switzerland is insane: ruclips.net/video/WcgEkPmGL_8/видео.html
@sonnyday6830 what do you base this on. it's no more expensive than anywhere else in the world. And cost of living is lower here than it is in aussie
