I've used Excalibur dehydrators for over 25 years and have made many kinds of meals and snacks with them. If you'd like to jump into dehydrating your own food, I think these are the best dehydrators available. Thanks for the ideas and for sharing the results of your experiment. The chunky chili and the desserts look really good! But, hmm, the desserts didn't seem to make it to camp. I was envious watching you eat fresh food on your huckleberry trip, but because I try to go lighter these days, the dehydrated recipes are what I'll be using.
You are correct!! The dehydrated desserts met an untimely demise! 😂 You should give real food a try on one trip. I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is.
Great video! Looks great. I can't stomach those freeze dried meals. Going on a backpacking trip in a few days and wanted to try dehydrating some food but am not gonna have the time. Next time for sure!
I've got a video coming about how I eat real food on backpacking trips without dehydrating or buying packaged food. As far as I'm concerned, I'm OK with carrying a little extra weight if it means I get to eat well! 🍔
@@WildernessGrandpa My thoughts exactly! I like to take real food when I can. Kind of depends on the weather for me, if cool enough definitely some kind of meat and cheese, not as easy in mid summer though, that's when I need to start dehydrating. The most important things for me while in the mountains is sleep and food. I'm fine with a little extra weight for those.
@@mikePNW I can't wait to release the video I'm planning. I'll show how you can take meat, scrambled eggs, and other perishable food items on a backpacking trip, even in the summer. Check out the meals I eat in this 3 day backpacking trip - ruclips.net/video/Kq4rn7pM_Ls/видео.html

Great video! Very helpful. Hitting a trail in New Mexico in two days.
Awesome! How many days is the trip?

Thanks so much for the chili and dessert recipes. Where do you get the stasher bags?
I'm pretty sure I just got them off Amazon.

Great ideal I'm going to try this. But how long do that last.
Each package should have a date on it.
I have a different dehydrator, what does the Excalibur run?
I don't know what the price is. It's been years since I bought mine.
