“After having babies she was Photographed showing parts of her body most women would have been ashamed of”….? Yeah, let’s work on your choice of words there buddy.
Right? I would’ve put it like this: “After giving birth only a few months prior, Helena seemed comfortable as ever in herself and didn’t allow the natural effects of pregnancy to dictate her feelings toward her body.” Or better yet, let’s not comment on this at all. 💖
Red Bird, for me the scruffiness is part of the appeal. Like Alcott's Jo March, a bit rumpled and looking like she wouldn't mind getting a bit more rumpled. Very approachable ☺️
I agree. I'm American, so I'm not as knowledgeable regarding royal minutia and scandal, but I know she was a rules-be-damned breaker. And her unofficial business dinner/dance/playful flirtation with President Lyndon Johnson (that did indeed sway political policy) was a particular fascination of my favorite history teacher in high school. So we were well versed in that slim chapter of her life. I thought those scenes were the most fun of the series so far. If I'm not mistaken, First "Lady Bird" Johnson was as sharp as a razor, knew that something much more important than fun and games was at hand, and did her best to make the princess feel welcome. My parents were very much the same. They were secure in their marriage and never obsessed over fidelity. If a situation were at hand (a car salesman, a speeding ticket, an estimate for needed repair work, etc.), either one would pour on the charm while the other chuckled proudly. I know that's not very p.c. Today, my folks would have little time for political correctness; they were kind and respectful. But an advantage, if there to be taken, was never passed. I know I was fortunate; they taught me how to live life to the fullest without harming others along the way. It seems that NO advantage was allowed to be indulged by Princess Margaret, and sadness and bitterness ensued. The whole family seems glum.
This video made me honestly cry both of happy tears and said, almost as if old memories were coming to the surface or all hearing the story of a woman I love so much and for so long.
I think this relationship showed what i was belived in since im 19: The only one who can judge and set rules in a relationship - is the couple. No one else can or have the permission to do so. (except it is about crime of course)
As Helena has stated she could write a thesis on what happened and it does sound like one. For one thing it’s important to note that a second home was bought was because Tim bought the house next to Helena’s little house as she said it would be nice to have Mr Right living next door. However when she got pregnant she didn’t have the room in her house but didn’t want to give it up so Tim had the corridor link up the 2 houses and Helena had confirmed that both kids lived in his house. Second it should be noted that Helena doesn’t believe in marriage as she believes that people aren’t meant to be together forever. It may be speculated that Tim had proposed before but Helena didn’t want to. In fact she said in a recent interview that marriage was too much of a decision. So they were never married. So I think after the whole sweeney Todd drama, Tim was trying to be careful in casting her but kept drawing her as the red queen so she was cast in Alice. Helena then thought she would automatically be cast as Angelique in Dark Shadows but both had agreed to not cast her so Tim could work with other actors as Helena gets to work with other directors and just to give the 2 a break. However Richard Zanick said she would be good as Dr Hoffman so Tim cast her for the part. Now she wasn’t cast for frankenweenie but those were for voices and it was a much smaller scale stop motion and it was around the time Dark Shadows was being made as well. But when it came to Big Eyes that was really the first time Tim cast actors he had never worked with and first time he filmed outside UK since Charlie and the chocolate 2005. So personally I think it was such a change for both that the relationship just broke down especially as Helena as stated that they’re both strongly individualistic and that if she didn’t see him on set she would think he’s depressed for every film due to the amount of stress. Even though he is Tim burton it sounds like he still struggles with studios. Hell, he was close to retiring if it wasn’t for Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. As Helena stated some people fit for a certain time and sometimes in order for people to evolve you have to let them go. But clearly not enough for them as they are still amicable to this day. Even days before they announced they broke up they were photographed with the cast of Cats. And considering Tim does not like musicals or cats that’s quite something. In fact Tim gave Helena his house and keeps giving her gifts even a handmade mask with his drawings during Covid. I think it’s a testament that they have a strong bond and respect for each other.
