    A week ago, when I was picking mushrooms in Slovenian woods, I saw large owl sitting on a dead tree. She wasnt scared of me, so I come closer and I started to cuddle her. It was so cute. But something was wrong with her. I picked her up and we went to the vetenarian, who saw that she has broken both wings. Yesterday they operate her, and by 4 months they will release her to the wild. The vet said that this owl is named slovenian "Kozač" (Strix uralensis) and are only 600 couples leaving in Slovenia. Please do not kill owls, they are so cute and harmless....Thanks
    If you want, you can donate on paypal account dzezvick25@gmail.com or BitCoin on adress 14Z8dzvVCcgW6Pm8qDMW5LjzsTtbX5y5vN and all donations will go for rescuing center for wild animals in Slovenia. My next movie will show the visit of animal hospital where they threated this beautiful owl. Thank you

    • @revparravager3184

      The reason the owl seemed to be enjoying it was because its pretty typical for mated pairs to preen each other both for actual practical reasons but also to sooth during stress and that would have had a similar sensation for this unfortunate injured bird even if done by a human. The owl was staying so still because due to the fact that it had broken wings its smart enough to know it cant do its usual "lets puff up and make myself look big and scary" against a potential threat so they can only hope being docile and passive will make it just go away.

    • @lcbrittain

      TEKO is that what was in the description? That explains it. I couldn’t find the description,
      Possibly because I hadn’t subscribed. I am glad the owl is ok now. I wish the video had gone further and demonstrated what had happened to it, and how it was resolved. It seems rather pointless as it is, wild owl submits to caresses - most unlikely in a healthy animal.

Not to mention diseases and things of the sort.
      Don't get me wrong, this was awesome and I am very glad they could nurse it and reintroduce it to the wild. I'm just saying, for anyone reading this, use caution when approaching ANY wild animal. Things don't always go this smoothly.

      He has set free the two seas meeting together. There is a barrier between them. They do not transgress.
      (Quran, 55:19-20)
      But when the Quran speaks about the divider between fresh and salt water, it mentions the existence of “a forbidding partition” with the barrier. God has said in the Quran:
      He is the one who has set free the two kinds of water, one sweet and palatable, and the other salty and bitter. And He has made between them a barrier and a forbidding partition.
      (Quran, 25:53)
      This information has been discovered only recently, using advanced equipment to measure temperature, salinity, density, oxygen dissolubility, etc. The human eye cannot see the difference between the two seas that meet, rather the two seas appear to us as one homogeneous sea. Likewise, the human eye cannot see the division of water in estuaries into the three kinds: fresh water, salt water, and the partition (zone of separation).

    • @rambbler
      @rambbler 3 года назад +135

      @@homelessrobot basically all animals benefit from being comforted and pet, especially when suffering. Owls are incredibly intelligent, birds in general tend to be intelligent creatures, and I'm definitely sure that she benefited from the petting because it helped her feel safe and comfortable, in addition to the veterinary care she received. Sharks like being pet and they ask for help from divers to get hooks out, birds preen eachother, tons of animals groom eachother, not just to help eachother but to comfort eachother as well. Kindness can transcend species and petting is a universal sign of it.

    • @homelessrobot
      @homelessrobot 3 года назад +32

      @@rambbler I am sure this is the case when the animal understands the intentions of the person petting them, and are not in an otherwise compromised position. But in cases like this I think there is a heavy dose of anthropocentricity in this reasoning.
      Imagine, you are injured in the woods (hanging upside down or something, since that is about as natural of a situation to be in as most birds being stationary so low to the ground and in the open) and an alien that smells like rotten eggs rolls up on you while you are injured and starts rubbing you with its tentacles.
      Too weak to do anything about it, but maybe not quite as comforted as you would be if it was another person, or an animal and you were in a situation that made you feel secure.
      Intelligence isn't the issue. familiarity and security is. I can't imagine that its putting the animal in too much distress (because its difficult to be distressed when you are exhuasted, your adrenal response is basically gone), but I don't think the animal is getting much out of it.

    U can tell how alert and anxious he/she was when he first started petting it by how wide and open it’s eyes were. Then the owl calmed down and knew it was safe when he started squinting his eyes and enjoying the pats 😊😂

    • @Kia044
      @Kia044 4 года назад +126

      It doesn't squint because it likes it. It squints because it has giant sensitive eyes and doesn't trust the human not to poke them!
      Owls and birds, especially wild ones, are not contact animals. They do not like being petted.

      Check some videos on Yoll or Redtabby channels. They are in russian, but some older videos have english subtitles (Yoll definitely has them). These ladies are a professional zoologist and veterinarian who frequently deal with injured birds. They really love animals, but also do a lot to disillusion people from false ideas about them.

      You're not the sharpest knife in the barrel aren't you? Study a bit of zoology or at least watch a couple of documentaries before doing such statements.
      Birds are not dogs. They don't show the outward emotions the same way. They are not pack animals and have not evolved such outward social cues.
      The only way to know if bird likes of just tolerates you is by it's behaviour. For example if it chooses to stay near you when it's completely healthy and can fly away at any time.
      The bird on this video is heavily injured and possibly in shock or with a concussion. It pretends to be dead in hopes the big scary animal will go away. It closes it's eyes as a reflex to protect them, not out of any pleasure.

We should all try to help those who can't help themselves.
