🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

The dishes that carry insects come from the Aztec culture and are produced in the center of the country. Mexican cuisine is very diverse. The one in the north is not the same as that of the south or the one in the center, nor is the gastronomy of the Yucatan peninsula, for that reason it is considered intangible heritage of humanity such as the Mediterranean, Japanese and french. In some countries like Peru it causes anger because they assure that Mexican cuisine is only about insects like their "frog juice" in Peru.
Naturally, insect dishes for some reason are a tourist attraction, while Mexicans prefer tacos, mole enchilada and endless more.
You could also look into Mexico’s sweets like ice cream, candy, smoothies and drinks all made fresh from different fruits. It would be awesome to see!
Yesss ! Helado de coco y cocadas supremacy
I agree. Just think maybe it's not much a variety I don't know, Mexico seems to be a savory dominant country, they even put chile on fruit & in candy
@@nayastuder5908 nooo we definitely have a variety of sweets too:) look up arroz con leche, tres leches, chocolate abuelita, cocadas, etc etc
@@isitamoguel girl my man of 9 yrs going on 10 is Mexican I know all about the tres leches, arroz con Leche y chocolate de abuelita. But I'm talking like a (wide) variety, cz America we just be making up desserts & stuff but I think with Mexico when it comes to sweets it's limited. Because the things we just mentioned like the arrow con Leche that's just sweet rice, not an actual true blue dessert, it's a side dish that's sweetened & chocolate de abuelita is just a hot chocolate drink not an actual dessert. And alot of the candies have chile in them.
@@nayastuder5908 My man it's food. Of course it's just ingredients.
I love Sonny. He's the perfect ratio of polite yet honest.
Peluche is one of the best co-hosts you've ever had. Top 3 for sure. Love the energy. Couldn't click away, was worth being late to work.
I like how chill he is, not overreacting to every food he tries
Yes he's become a new favorite for me and he's on point with the peace sign, clearly he did his homework.✌
Right? Calvin feels so forced & cringe to watch. Nothing he says is funny, just repeats what Sonny says or acts fruity 🤷 The skinny Vietnamese guy host was amazing, I forgot his name but he tried rats with Sonny pre-covid

As your boss you are now fired 😂😂😂

18:21 THAT WAS SUCH A SMOOTH MOVE SONNY LOL 😂 loved the stall owner’s response too 😆
Mark Ruffalo pulled that move on Meryl Streep and got a kiss.

@@katherinechu4581 Yes, a fellow Graham Norton fan. :D
Wow that Doritos pickle pork skin looks so good!! Love your Mexico vids. Korean and Mexican foods the best IMHO
I thought Mexican food was all tacos and burritos. This episode has opened my eyes.
Only tacos and burritos…… 😑
🙄
And is just the pick of the iceberg
I knew they did bugs here and there but ya some of the food he shows I had no idea
You nailed it with this guy (Peluche)
He is so legit and humble human being
Very great video Sony
Let’s hope they don’t do one with la ruta he is so irritating
An episode of Sonny's childhood food or snacks cooked by his mom would be great!!!
Does he ever mention his family? The closest he get is his childhood friend in usa
@@hilmannajib Yes he mentioned his mom cooking, watch it again lol and if you watch BEFRS regularly he occasionally mention his mom's cooking.
@@bizbobizbo82 yeah, haven't got there yet when I type it,
It would just be a bunch of struggle meals lol
@@SymonnePat Exactly, but I'm sure it'll be hilarious!!
I appreciate how Sonny never takes a small bite, even when he’s nervous.
You’re so brave trying all of these exotic foods!!😯
Exotic is the code word for shitty.
@@jackhoff3910 Wow you're exotic
@@thanhtunghoang2402 You just proved my point.
Thats what i eat everyday 😃. For me is very normal
@@jackhoff3910 said like someone with no culture
I like Peluche's energy! He has potential!
03:40 if the flavor and smell of the cow stomach is too strong, that just means it was not properly prepared IMO. Proper rinsing and boiling it for a several minutes should fix that. I usually boil it with some bay leaf, salt and pepper - bay leaf works wonders!
Good to know! I've tried cow stomach twice and I want to like it, but both times it smelled and tasted like it had been dragged through a gutter.
@@MorningOnMarsmeat preparation and cleaning is always critical when dealing with innards of any animal. I'm not an expert on this subject, but I have decent experience preparing and cooking them. Boiling in bayleaf is by far the most effective. If the recipe permits, you can also try it with lemon grass.
my mom says the same. I've never had stomach, but apparently my grandpa used to love preparing it and my mom mentions how much effort he put into making sure it was perfect. She said it was normal for the house to stink if you were there from the start, but if you arrived when it was done you wouldn't smell any stink, just the other ingredients of the menudo.
That's very true, my mom used to make the best menudo I ever had and it was clean, is not suppose to smell like shite, a little bit of lime ( the white powder) can clean it nicely.
@@diocollins2379 with white powder, you mean baking soda?
It was cool seeing this as a Mexican American because although I go to Mexico every year I’ve never seen or tried some of these foods. I’ve noticed that the city and smaller more rural towns have different foods. I’m from a small town near Guadalajara, Jalisco and everything I’ve tried over there is amazing!
I had not too long ago told my girlfriend about how sonny had never made videos in my people's land Mexico but he finally made my dreams come true I just gotta say it's really heartwarming to see you having great food and a great time in Mexico! Big fan Sonny!!
Watching Sunny, I always feel like I'm travelling to all these countries with him and tasting the food, but it's all mental 🤣
Thanks Sunny.
Sonny
Very true
13:20 the dude goes for a big bite and then doesn’t take it when he sees the camera 😂😂😂
I was looking for this comment 😂😂
he even gets up and leaves cuz he's not in the next shot anymore
Oh my god, I am loving literally every second of this Mexico City series!! I am mexican and I lived in CDMX for almost ten years. I literally used to live 200 meters aways from the esquites. So many memories with this series 😀😀😀. The food scene in Mexico City is just so varied and intense that you were able to make a whole series out of it. And for the whole country, well, I think you can easily make 50 videos!! I hope that now that Sonny is in the US, he will keep filming in Mexico.
I love that you find local people everywhere you go to help you experience their cultures better, it really sets your channel above others!
Everyone has to show sonny and his team some love for always bringing good content and making us laugh with his stupidity 🤣 my favorite time on this channel so far to where I cried laughing was when sonny thought the girl said espionage and then he REALIZES she is saying the word spinach in an accent.. I swear just one of many times I've reared up laughing at this show if you get any streamy awards or shit like that you and your team got my vote sonny.
😆 his facial expressions 🤭😆 …Hilarious!! 🥰
Any idea which episode that was?
@@Lebronfan1 One of the Iran episodes I think. She said spinach like s-pi-nach
@@reveirg9 thanks! I definitely will check them out

Peluche is one of the best Mexican content creators I follow. So proud for seeing him grow and expand his audience outreach!!! 🇲🇽🤗🎉
My favorite co host right now is Peluche. He's so cool. Sonny knows how to pick em👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I was so excited for this vid cuz of the thumbnail, as a mexican, its so funny how sonny describes the cueritos (the pickled pork skin) “unusual” “extreme” etc etc and for me its the most normal thing ever, like i have that stuff AT HOME 😂😂😂 the bugs are the more extreme things in my opinion, but for my uncle it was normal, its just so funny how that works 😂😂
Love the vid btw!!!!!!! 🥺❤️
Congratulations Peluche! You are my favorite food RUclipsr from México and seeing you with Sonny is like when the power rangers met the ninja turtles. I loved this episode do much
Shout-out from Dominican Republic. Wish you could visit and do a series. 💪🏾 I was stationed in El Paso Texas and I really miss some authentic Mexican food. Lengua tacos are my favorite with some chicharon.
People call that TEX-MEX
im addicted to this show like i just love how hes so appreciating of all the food. you can tell he really loves doing what he does and never says no. very refreshing show
Sunny you need to come to the yucatan peninsula! The gastronomy in this part of the country is so different than what you are trying :)
Recado and cochinita is good asf
Mexicans are freaking hardcore when it comes to food, I love it
Yep
I just wanted to reiterate the fact that I LOVE BEFRS! Sonny, the crew, you guys are top tier content creators. Thanks for making my days throughout the years 😁
Sonny, love your showing how people arround the world eat. The local partners are such a help in enlarging the experience. This one was one of the best in all regards. Thanks for all your efforts.
I love what you do! Found you doing the state fair stuff and then next thing I know your on one of my favorite podcast talking with Bert. Never stop doing this. Way better than main stream tv.
I'm so happy Sonny is making it work for the channel. You need to adapt to difficult times.
Great video!
Your co-host is someone you need to keep. He's got good vibes!
Love Peluche in this episode! His smile and willingness to try all these foods! 👍👍
I'm really loving this Mexico tour, i love watching Sunny and peluche is a wonderful co-host ❤
Sonny would make a great grand father, with all the weird and wonderful stories he would have to tell his grand kids🤭😁✌️❤️🇮🇳

@@joetungnung260 tah hichuna!!(it's the truth,hoi na nahoi?!)😜😁🤣🤭❤️👍
I love this series! I’ve been watching all your videos and was always hoping you’d get to experience Mexico as a country, people, and food. There’s so much more to experience! I suggest going to the Yucatán and Merida. All the surrounding cities as well. Guanajuato is beautiful. Puerto Vallarta is gorgeous! I’m so happy you are learning more about what we have to offer ❤️
Also it’s so funny to see Sonny experience basic snacks like gorditas, dorilocos with cueritos or huaraches. These are all so natural and instinctive to me 😅
I could watch Sonny and Peluchi all day every day...They are the Dynamic Duo of Street Food...So raw, honest , animated and funny...Sonny kills me with his low key sarcasm...I laughed hysterically when he was describing how the Bug Lady prepared her Insect Kabob by basically just shoving a stick up its ass ...Then proceeds to tell her you're an amazing Chef...😂😂😂😂
This was such a great video, loved Peluche! Already subscribed to him!!!
peluce's outro probably the smoothest outro done by a co-host so far.. definetly a fan of the show (the handshake was also perfect because that is how it supposed to be)
Loving the Mexican tour so far!
I would never eat exotic quesadillas unless I really have to but it’s exciting to know these recipes exist!
Right I agree lol
Really great cohost! Great job all around, awesome video as always!
Those common food ingredients they use is quite expensive here in Philippines. I wish we can have those delicious streets foods too.
That was fantastic. He's such a great guest host. Loved the fun descriptions, like the J-Lo ant. Were the iridescent beetles the same as we call "June Bugs" in the USA? The ones that fly into pools every summer?
Yup! Makes me think of catching some we get TONS in summer
Yes those are June Bugs! I’ve tried bugs before in Mexico, but small ones. I don’t know if I can do the big ones. Definitely can’t do the cockroach, eek. 🥴
Yeah it’s very fantastic, where are you watching from?
Yeah 🐜
Loving this series. Everything you guys make is so entertaining to watch.
I always wished that you come to Mexico, so happy to see you in my country and yes we eat all of that in here, lots of love and good vibes
Had a bit if déjà vu with the chicken feet there!30 years backward's lol.l grew up eating them back home in our village in Zimbabwe.l was advanterous enough to try some ants and certain bugs too lol.
I didn’t even know people eat chicken feet until my late 20’s
@@sebastiangeorge7714 Definitely an acquired taste. I’m Mexican and my mom used to make chicken feet soup. I liked to eat the skin from the feet cause it was the tastiest, next to the broth. I didn’t like munching on the feet cause it was a weird texture. She doesn’t make it anymore cause my little brothers don’t like chicken feet soup but it’s okay in my book.

Dorilocos are my favorite snack, because it's one of the biggest and fattest in Mexico 😍

Oh man, the cow stomach bit. I love it. Had it a few times along with tacos de ojos (cow's eyes) and it's just honestly a very good flavor, it's an acquired taste but tripe lovers will enjoy it.
I love how he’s always respectful when he doesn’t really care for a dish but his face kind of gives it away 🤣
I found this channel recently and i am hooked!!! I have been binge watching all the previous episodes
Mexico bonito has amazing food even to the street food! It is amazing mi pais hermoso!
Aww man I am so happy Sonny made it work after the big change and all the doubts and worries for the future of the channel. The content is as good as ever, the humour is there, and he pumps out this good quality content what twice a week? I feel like he found a new motivation/inspiration for his channel. I was worried for a minute there that if he cant figure it out I’ll lose my fave youtube channel! Whew! Well done Sonny!!! You rock!!! Keep doing what you are doing - you are one of the very best at this!!! I kinda feel like you’ve outgrown Anthony Bourdain at this stage… nothing he can do about it now sadly…

Sonny is funny😂😂 he really said he was tasting dandruff in those roaches, how you know what dandruff tastes like? This man really said it tastes like bad breath😂😂
Sonny & team, thanks for another great video. I am enjoying this Mexican series. Indeed this cuisine is way more diverse than we think in Europe and in North America. When it comes to diversity, I think Mexican cuisine rivals Indian which for me was a surprise.
