This was taken from a German music televison companies (Viva) broadcasting. The metal show came weekly (on Thursdays at 10pm I guesss) and was called Metalla. In the one hour lasting show the host Markus Kavka regularly featured metal bands in the gaps between the band's (and other bands) videos. For this show he visited and interviewed the guys of Dimmu Borgier, the old Dimmu Borgier and traveled around with the guys through their nothern territories.
Beautifully done black metal when black metal was about better things than just being fast and offensive. Old Dimmu is fucking brilliant!! Great vid, thanks for posting it!
One thing that way too many metal bands do wrong in my opinion is not have enough of a real bass guitar sound. It is nice to hear Nagash loud and clear on this.
Yeah thats recorded from the mixer board, and the sound guy DEFINITELY had the bass turned up 😂 waaaay up. Ive never seen hears a live "pro shot" like this and its crazy. BUT THe proof is in the puddin! That bassist didnt miss a lick!
When Shagrath still had a cool voice, when the sound quality was more creepy than crappy... I wanna go back to the 90s, change my name to Visdor and play the guitar in the forest at night ^^
wow, Shagrath was very thin =P I prefer todays dimmu. And if they were still like this they would not probably have all the fans and money they currently have, then I think dimmu prefers todays dimmu too =P
@stormblast75 songs off For All Tid and Stormblast? Then I'm guessing Raabjorn Speiler, Alt Lys and Dodsferd, right? ;) oh, did they play A Succubus In Rapture too? :O
@silenoz1993 As far as I remember statements by other band members (who could, of course be full of shit), Nagash didn't give a fuck any more and Astennu had severe drug problems, that's why they sacked them.
Death Metal can be more aggresive, while Black Metal is more ambient and more easier guitar riffs, also there is alot of treble, and the vocals are more like screeches compared to Death Metal growls.
That bass!!!
Love that bass, wish i could hear vortex's bass that good in the newer stuff
Nagash on bass!!! Genious!
Now THIS is the Dimmu Borgir that I grew up to!!! I only wish they would go back to their original roots. Greetings from U.S.A.!!!!

Awesome!! And look where they are now...
Hail Dimmu Borgir!!!!
Its seemed like it was raining at this concert which fit the mood of the song!
jumpy bass, but with alot of feeling too =DD
Good old childhood memories.
nagash makes it possible ;D the real hero with astennu, the biggest mistake to let them leave
incredible, one of the best version of this song i've heard, with the one from koln in 98. I've got goosebumps :D
In the absolute end of the video was it One Rode To Asa Bay with Bathory starting????
+Max Malmin Yes, that's indeed One Rode To Asa Bay.
When Shagrath still had a cool voice, when the sound quality was more creepy than crappy... I wanna go back to the 90s, change my name to Visdor and play the guitar in the forest at night ^^
Far out. Groovy. Love the bass. Thx.
so cool to see this old video
great
I like Dimmu's sound in this video, more black metal then death metal. I like today's Dimmu but this is still better.
🔱🔱🔱 Nagash 🔱🔱🔱 Storm Alexander 🇧🇷🌷
This is how you do a bass cover video !!!!))))
miss old dimmu :(
WHY DA HELL DON'T THEY RELEASE THIS MATERIAL WHY WHY WHY WHY
I hate how non-black metal fans like them now. I love all of Dimmu's cd's but they're old stuff is definitely still the best.
EPIC
i fucking love the old dimmu album !
HAIL TO THE KING SHAGRATH , THANX FROM WYOMING , USA 😈❤💋
hey guys! Nagash plays the bass kinda strange :D Maybe this was his style those times..
anyway, the video rocks, and classic Dimmu 4eva!
I like the One Road To Asa Bay at the last second of the video XD Bathory FTW \m/
this is when dimmu were fucking amazin
Plus half a second of One Rode to Asa Bay! :D
I fucking Love old Dimmu!! wished they woulda staed true to Traditional black metal
the bass is abnormally loud, but it's pretty cool.
What about Count de Nocte?
When was the real Dimmu Borgir, today nothing is the same 😂😂😂
yup
Impaled Nazarene is the best finnish bm band and they rock!
shagrath moves like king diamond o.O
Storm blast could have sounded this way
The very last second of this video, is the beginning of another video: Bathory - One Rode To Asa Bay... right?
There's some good Finnish bm like Cladestine Blaze, Horna, Satanic Warmaster, Barathrum, old Begerit, old Impaled Naz, Behexen Diaboli, Sargeist, etc
last sec of the vid the first power chord of "One Road To Asa Bay" ;)
Is this The Hell ? 😍
Hahaha Cool, Nice Bass sound xD
Is it Bathory in the very end? =)
@spiderman5z
yeah and it's cool
I have compared as I often listen to both the old and the new of theirs. What's different about the vocals?
wow, Shagrath was very thin =P I prefer todays dimmu. And if they were still like this they would not probably have all the fans and money they currently have, then I think dimmu prefers todays dimmu too =P
Yeah =)
@stormblast75 songs off For All Tid and Stormblast? Then I'm guessing Raabjorn Speiler, Alt Lys and Dodsferd, right? ;)
oh, did they play A Succubus In Rapture too? :O
@stormblast75 Where exactly did they play here?
@stormblast75 and do you remember what else did they play? :D

Ok, so they also eat guys...
And who is the keyboardist?
@hellionsentinel Dynamo
@silenoz1993
As far as I remember statements by other band members (who could, of course be full of shit), Nagash didn't give a fuck any more and Astennu had severe drug problems, that's why they sacked them.
Hehe, M.Kafka, als er noch sympathisch war...oder so. ^^
Exact same vocal style as the new stuff...
Death Metal can be more aggresive, while Black Metal is more ambient and more easier guitar riffs, also there is alot of treble, and the vocals are more like screeches compared to Death Metal growls.
was this in america? cause the sound is SHIT
Their latest CD blows.
They gotta go back to doing what they do best, not experimenting.
