I know hackatons more as "do what you want" projects. Usually as a dev you get like two hours a week as free use time that you can use to do stuff you feel is important. So in case you have a project that is burning on all ends, you will have your two hours to do the very important change you proposed in the meeting. Then a hackaton would be a extension of that, where you get like one to three days to do something bigger you feel is very important to the company. For example, i did a small hackaton on my company creating some time tracking software for us so we dont have to manually write our timetables and dont have to pay for such a simple service - i mean we are a dev company lol.
The day we get a Halo strategy game focused on space battles (in the same way as battle fleet gothic armada or maybe even Homeworld) is the day I’ll die a happy man.

God, rewatching all the Halo Infinite cutscenes today was both so epic and so depressing. The campaign was so so good and I remember feeling so much hope from Cortana’s apology onwards. And then that post credits scene too. We were promised so much. And we got nothing. Utterly disappointing. I haven’t played the game since I finished the campaign since I’m a single player guy and as much as I want to hold out hope that something will come back…that candle is barely a flicker by now.
I'm just happy to see someone else who actually enjoyed the Halo Infinite campaign like I did. I've seen so many people constantly saying how bad of a campaign it was that I was starting to believe the entire Halo fandom hated Infinite's campaign.
I would love a flood horror game, maybe not even the flood. The covenant was a absolutely terrifying force to go against in the early years of halo. Mysterious, lots of weapons that were as strange as they were unique with a plethora of unique aliens that's had quirks that made them different from any other alien. I would have loved to have seen the covenant use a alien species that actively hunted remenats of unfc personal in captured territory much like "Alien" something that is so predatory it was seen as useful. Like using dogs to hunt fox's or ferrets and small critters to hunt rabits. I think of something along the lines of Alien: isolation that would have been terrifying for any personnel left behind or "waiting" for pickup. I would love to hear your thoughts!
"There was only one man" "One? Are you sure?" "Yes. They called him.. Don Mattrick." "Why was he not destroyed with the rest of their projects!?" "He Fled. To his little greedy hole with his bonus, as he set fire to Ensemble Studios" All jokes aside we lost halo wars 1 dlc, I didn't know it existed, but I always needed it.
ODST flood survival horror game using Halo 3/ODST assets, with fixed camera angles, and an RE4 style inventory. Working your way up from being a wounded ODST dropped out of a pelican due to turbulence when the flood arrived on Earth, with nothing but a combat knife, through rescuing civilians, making an elite friend, reuniting your squad, and escaping the city just before the shipmaster starts glassing it.
I'd love to see a soft or semi hardcore halo extraction shooter, where you as the player build up to be a Spartan or a banished brute going on missions for your factions in hot zones
I would honestly love a covenant spinoff game where you play as a San'Shyuum reformist on board the Anodyne Spirit leaving Janjur Qom to begin the Covenant empire.
Wow, I had only really known about Halo DS and the MMO, this was super informative. Lots of really interesting ideas and projects. I cannot believe how wild some of these ideas got, Halo Chronicles sounded INSANE.
I kinda like the idea of Haggar. Sure, like you said, if it was just that and no other projects were being developed then I would agree with people getting upset at it. However, if it was released alongside other spin off games or during a high point for halo (the hype phase for infinite and the fixing of MCC comes to mind), then I could see a good chunk of people play the hell out of it, including me. But that's just my opinion.
I'm with you on this. But I agree it shouldn't be 343 putting time into it. Microsoft should approach the crowd that got it going and say to them "here's some coin, finish this and we'll go from there"
You've fallen for the same oversight Xperia has,Haggar was made by a different company entirely, the only thing 343 needed to do really was slap their name on the front of the CD case and promotional poster. So had they said yes, which is among the many failures of 343 that they said no,then everyone would have known that N Space was the main developing powerhouse behind it,meaning no one can get mad at 343 since 343 wasn't "wasting time"(which definitely wouldn't have been in the first place)with their limited resources.
@@NareshSinghOctagon People still would've gotten mad because a lot of Halo fans don't seem to understand how the behind the scenes of game design works.
@@CloneCommanderCrater1102 ,considering that most would be able to read the company logos on the CD case or the listed devs on the Steam store page, along with the very likely fact that the trailer would've very much state who N Space was, even the dumbest of Halo players who might've gotten mad would get mad at N Space more then 343. Unless the thing(s) they were mad about were caused by 343 demanding a change to the original efforts of N Space.
@@NareshSinghOctagon People are still mad at 343i for the expensive shop in Infinite even though that was absolutely a Microsoft/stock holders decision and not a 343 one.
Obviously I'd love to see a flood horror game, but one idea that I'd really love to see is a covenant story but not against heretics, but against humanity, playing as an elite against platoons of Marines and odsts, it's give u the same power trip as being a Spartan but a whole new gameplay take, even if it's not the whole game I've been dying for that to happen, aswell as a Spartan 3 based game centered around the books like divine wind and stuff, make it a stealth orientated game similar to metal gear with different targets you need to eliminate and stuff
Since halo was an idea for a DS I wouldn't mind a MCC port on the switch. It will be similar to the days where you take your entire xbox and TV to you friends house and play on system link, would be cool.
@@tTaseric to be fair if the MCC can run on the steam deck then it could probably work on the switch, but it would have to be a newer one like the switch OLED model.
I always wanted Halo to be kinda like Star Wars Battlefront. 64 player teams, playable spartans, odsts, and marines. Then playable covenant too for the opposing team. I'm talking phantoms, banshees, hunters, grunts, and everything! Each map could be like a siege scenario. I'd love to run around as a grunt or be a pelican piolet dropping off my team at a LZ. My point being, Halo should focus on bringing that large scale campaign feel to multiplayer, and I think games like battlefield and battlefront would be a good format to try an implement into a future Halo game mode.
13:00 maybe Tatanka *is* Max's passion project, after all it has been said that it has shifted direction and is turning into something more than just a simple Halo Battle Royale
I will always be upset that we didn’t get the Halo Wars 3 game with space battles. We need a Halo space combat RTS so bad. Hell you know what I want to see? A Halo RTS with the space battles done by Petroglyph or the guys who made Homeworld and the ground combat done in the style of Call to Arms but with the scale of a large Command and Conquer game, and the in-depth base building of Supreme Commander and/or Dawn of War. The largest scale battles would be like the original SupCom FA’s scale; these titanic wars across vast stretches of land. God, I’d pay out the nose for that kind of game.
Check out Sins of the Phrophets mod if you want what will probably be the greatest Halo Space RTS I prefer having the option for land battles still though :(
Hey, just wanted to say. I appreciate that you put background video that at least somewhat applies to what you're talking about. Instead of just random gamplay. Good work. Well deserved like.
If we got a spin off game i would love a game where you and up to three others play as rtas vad'dum and a team of spec ops hunting down the surviving prophets and thier remaining covenant troops as well as pratorians. It would have the halo 3 asthetic with dabs of infinite and would have the types of environments from halo 3 other than earth( personally my favorite halo asthetic of all time is the desert from the ark with classic forerunner architecture and waterfalls) but also forests, snow, and urban environments( particularly the urban architecture of the prophets.) That is my dream oh and once you complete the campaign you can unlock arcade mode where you can play as your customized halo 3 style elite.
22:57 I like to think those psions would’ve been intended as having some sort of like, forerunner tech put into them, or maybe former covenant test subjects.
i actually stumbled across halo starfighter while modeling the broadsword for a mod. was amazed and heartbroken of how this wasn't at least, put to the side for future development. i think if the kinda marketed it similar to starwars starfighter. a small game, low price, and high focus on air to air. itd be a hit
In a parallel universe halo releases yearly on evrey platform. Even releasing its own console. The Hbox with, Halonight, halocraft, halofduty, GTH, halocart, u go to the movies to see Harvel
Somewhere out there is the original prototype to Halo 2, where it ends at Halo 3's the Storm. Just as well, Halo 1 - HALO, the original sequel to Marathon.
We need a Halo game from the Marines prospective, I'm thinking a squad based shooter that goes from the beginning of the war to the end of Halo 3 and sperate campaign that follows both halo wars, then there's be separate campaigns that follow Thel and one for Rtas.
It makes me so sad hearing about what could have been. And I would have eaten up that megablox game as a kid, since my parents didn’t approve of the violence of halo but let me play Lego games I always used to wish Lego halo could exist
Halo is literally the StarWars of video games. And it’s baffling how a universe so Rich never branched out into other types of game like Halo Wars. Smh.
Honestly, I'd be totally fine with the Mega Blox game getting made. It looks genuinely interesting and I like the difference in visual style compared to your usual Halo games. I'd love a spin-off based on any number of characters in the Halo universe and I loved Halo ODST, its probably my favorite game, but a spin-off that takes the the IP and puts it into a completely different genre or gameplay style just sounds more interesting to me (that's why Halo Wars was such a cool idea). A flood horror game is the only idea that I think would sound as a interesting for a spin-off as Haggar looks.
Lego Halo seems kinda fun in the same way that Lego Star Wars would be...but make the campaign hold up to 16 players and give it that goofy Lego humor. Would prefer actual halo games to release with it though cause waiting 3 years for Lego Halo is a kick in the balls
Do you think that halo wars 3 is in the workings, because there is so much of the expanded universe that is coming to the art. Veta lopis and her ferret team, minus Mark, Castor and Gatugai, Das' Basvod, and possibly Rion Forge and her crew.
I would love to see Canon A Fist Full Of Arrows Game Exploring Noble Team Pre-Fall of Reach, and Jun's Escort of Halsey and survival off the planet, or what happened to Jun after Laconia Station Was Destroyed by Leonidas spin-off.
A game like Starfighter would be good from like the perspective of a unsc pilot, I’m gonna just spit out an idea, When the war just started a little boy lived happily eith his family in some human colony, when one day the war cam to their doorstep and the dad was drafted and had to leave his family. After a year or two a group of men knock on their houses door and give them the bad news that the dad died in combat, the little boy would begin growing a hatred towards the covenant. Many years later when the boy is now a teenager or adult, he is trying to enlist in the unsc marine corp when one day the covenant invades the planet, trying to glass it. The boy on his way home get attacked by a couple grunts and an elite on a ghost. Surprisingly, the boy is able to kill all the grunts and disorient the elite, somehow the boy is able to kill the elite and use the ghost to kill off the small force of covenant around the area of his home. But it was too late, the covenant had begun glassing the planet as the screen went black. It would cut to the boy waking up and looking for the rest of his family which he would eventually find dead, a couple of marines would find him and bring him to the ship they came in. Inside the lead scientist or whatever would be looking at footage from the invasion when he saw the boy killing an elite by himself, the scientist would show the recording to some high ranking official and the screen would cut to the boy deep in his emotions when the high ranking official would walk up to him and offer him a position in the unsc. The boy would accept, after a boot camp montage the boy would graduate and be a pilot. He would be sent to some ship where nothing would happen until he finally got his big break as they were sent into a highly dangerous warzone, he would deploy into real action for the first time and freeze in fear. After being shot by a covenant ship he would snap out of it and get to fighting. Beginning the game. This is a very rushed story and definitely needs refining but you probably understand the main plot of the story.

The most missed opportunity in the gaming world wasn't even a game for me but the canceled Halo movie from the district 9 guys, would've broke records
GIVE US BACK ENSEMBLE STUDIOS DAMNIT, I’m SO UPSET
"There was only one man"
"One? Are you sure?"
"Yes. They called him.. Don Mattrick."
"Why was he not destroyed with the rest of their projects!?"
"He Fled. To his little greedy hole with his bonus, as he set fire to Ensemble Studios"
All jokes aside we lost halo wars 1 dlc, I didn't know it existed, but I always needed it.
I could have sworn "Halo DS" just ended up being a mod for another game. Either Metroid or GoldenEye or something like that.
Halo starfighter would been pretty cool game to make that should be a future project for next generation of consoles
I have personally been wanting to make this for years, but can't find the time due to my job.
Bruh, Ensemble's Halo Wars 2 sounds like the game I thought it would be quite a few years ago.
Honestly, that chronicals one sounds batshit insane.
Would've loved if it was real though, cause it seems like the good kind of insane.
Hopefully some of these ideas could come back in the future.
Wow, I had only really known about Halo DS and the MMO, this was super informative. Lots of really interesting ideas and projects.
I cannot believe how wild some of these ideas got, Halo Chronicles sounded INSANE.
The creative assembly game would be exactly what I’ve been wanting.
At this point I'll take anything experimental. Those always have a place in my heart.
I've got an idea, I think Halo Infinite : Tatanka might be the passion project he was talking about 13:12
Ok but what about the Halo Mega Blocks game?
Obviously I'd love to see a flood horror game, but one idea that I'd really love to see is a covenant story but not against heretics, but against humanity, playing as an elite against platoons of Marines and odsts, it's give u the same power trip as being a Spartan but a whole new gameplay take, even if it's not the whole game I've been dying for that to happen, aswell as a Spartan 3 based game centered around the books like divine wind and stuff, make it a stealth orientated game similar to metal gear with different targets you need to eliminate and stuff
I'd play chronicles because it's sounded amazing when I was a kid
Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the mega blocks Halo game being finished and released. It just looks fun.
Since halo was an idea for a DS I wouldn't mind a MCC port on the switch. It will be similar to the days where you take your entire xbox and TV to you friends house and play on system link, would be cool.
I highly doubt the Switch would be able to handle H2A.
I would love hagger to be a thing. Better come with couch co op
Check out Sins of the Phrophets mod if you want what will probably be the greatest Halo Space RTS
I prefer having the option for land battles still though :(
If 343 announced a Halo spinoff and its a mega construx game, I would absolutely love and cherish it, as its exactly what Ive wanted since I was a kid
Hey, just wanted to say. I appreciate that you put background video that at least somewhat applies to what you're talking about. Instead of just random gamplay. Good work. Well deserved like.
I wish I could go back in time so I could stop project titan from being shut down
There was also supposedly a cancelled Halo VR game called Halo Reverie
I impulse bought Halo Wars 1 on Steam to replay on my deck because of this video. It’s also on sale for 5$
If we got a spin off game i would love a game where you and up to three others play as rtas vad'dum and a team of spec ops hunting down the surviving prophets and thier remaining covenant troops as well as pratorians.
It would have the halo 3 asthetic with dabs of infinite and would have the types of environments from halo 3 other than earth( personally my favorite halo asthetic of all time is the desert from the ark with classic forerunner architecture and waterfalls) but also forests, snow, and urban environments( particularly the urban architecture of the prophets.)
That is my dream oh and once you complete the campaign you can unlock arcade mode where you can play as your customized halo 3 style elite.
22:57 I like to think those psions would’ve been intended as having some sort of like, forerunner tech put into them, or maybe former covenant test subjects.
GREAT VIDEO!
i actually stumbled across halo starfighter while modeling the broadsword for a mod. was amazed and heartbroken of how this wasn't at least, put to the side for future development. i think if the kinda marketed it similar to starwars starfighter. a small game, low price, and high focus on air to air. itd be a hit
I’d love a spin-off game of Noble 6 before joining Noble Team, a spin off of a spin off if you will
In a parallel universe halo releases yearly on evrey platform. Even releasing its own console. The Hbox with, Halonight, halocraft, halofduty, GTH, halocart, u go to the movies to see Harvel
Wasn't Bungie originally planning on making a Halo 4? But instead they pivoted it to Halo Reach? I remember hearing that somewhere
A scary flood game (and tv show or movie, along with Gears of War too) would be sweet. Another ODST game would be sweet too
Somewhere out there is the original prototype to Halo 2, where it ends at Halo 3's the Storm. Just as well, Halo 1 - HALO, the original sequel to Marathon.
Could you imagine download play Halo on field trips, that would have been fire.
I always thought that the brutes in halo wars 1 were underutilized and barely used. I wish the DLCs weren't cancelled.
A little halo, EFT, and OSRS in one video? Chefs kiss.
Smh.
I got to play halo ds on a jail broken ds in 08.
You needed a action replay or whatever the device was called.
Holy shit, talk about Titan! I'm actually on a journey to get my hands on the game, or at least more assets
if you ever manage to get your hands on any builds of it let me know chief, I'd love to cover it!
That game about being the bullet sounds interesting
A halo version of Star Wars battlefront would be pretty dope
halo starfighters would have been amazing. imagine battlefront 2 space battles but halo
Considering how much i loved all the Star Wars Rogue Squadron games this would've been my favorite Halo game of all time.
20:00 that damn runescape music. We gonna fight! ;-; my nostalgia is hitting hard.
I've been a halo fan since 2005 and I learned a lot from this video. I had no idea about some of these, so cool. Keep making videos man, love them!
I would love to see Canon A Fist Full Of Arrows Game Exploring Noble Team Pre-Fall of Reach, and Jun's Escort of Halsey and survival off the planet, or what happened to Jun after Laconia Station Was Destroyed by Leonidas spin-off.
I want an RTS of the ancient human/forerunner/flood war. Such a cool era of lore that I think an RTS would fit well
Halo really could have been Star Wars level. So much potential
I honestly wouldn't mind a Halo Megablocks game it looks fun
Halo starfighter would be insane
That Masterchief in the thumbnail without the helmet on looks like a Serious Sam reject 😅
There is a Halo DVD Board Game...
