Great work! For now this will fall under my 'not enough experience/tools to get the job done but it's so cool it makes me want to get better' category. Thanks for taking the time to show us your work.
Best woodworking video I've seen on RUclips - easy to understand the process, without being overly long or detailed (no need as everyone's cut list will be different). Great work!
The green stain didn't really do it for me, but that is a matter of personal taste. I love the simple beafy design of the cart. I will use red oak, so I can only imagine how heavy it will be. Nicely done and simple to follow.
I love the island.. I need one , it needs to be two of yours in size and have at least two shelves for my mixers and bread machine and such.. I love the mason jar storage.. The top is very pretty also... Thanks for sharing ...🥰
Thanks! You could easily add an extra shelf to this. I really like it without, because it makes it really nice to sit at. I use it mainly as my breakfast nook now.
I am completely addicted to your style of Shou Sugi Ban! I am a welder/furniture maker myself, and this is a technique that I plan to incorporate into some of my projects!
Here is my idea: I want to mix the Island with a bit more metal, that will tie the stools in a little better. I also plan to add a foot rest to the stools. I have some Autocad Drawings I have been working on since I saw your video. I think it will look amazing! And all of the wood will be Shou Sugi Ban since I will be incorporating more metal into the design of the kitchen Island!
Very nice looks great. These are great ideas. The only difference I would use would be an apoxy resin. But before that, I would use a router and get all those corners around it out, it looks great.
My wife wants me to build her two entryway style tables. I think I'll try this same shou sugi ban tops. I'll be building them with pallet wood and I think she'll love that style. Thanks also for the tutorial on how to do the shou sugi ban top.
I love this. I wish I knew how to build this for my art supplies and paint. Buying one is too expensive and having it built is expensive. Maybe one day I will be able to make one of these beautiful kitchen carts. The color is beautiful
Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
I made one similar to this, but added a full shelf about midway down. I wondered, though why the table top had (3) supporting boards to rest on, but the bottom shelf didn't (which also led me to wonder whether the shelf needed this). I'm now making a smaller, lighter one for my sister, who has a very small space for this, using 1x4's for the most part. Loved the Shou Sugi Ban effect!
I'll be honest, the color is odd when it's being stained. I cringed. Then after the finish I started digging it. Awesome little island man. Keep it up!
Great job, but for my personal taste, I'd tint the base somewhat darker color, and probably would rout tabletop edges. Love this burning magic, and tabletop color choice
Nice build. If i could add that the dowels may warp or accidentally break would using copper tubing to cover them when sliding them through the end. I like adding metal to wood projects.
Copper tubing would look really cool. Never thought of that. I will say that I use this daily and often and the dowels are holding up nicely. The fact that they flex a bit makes getting the mason jars in and out a breeze.
I'm considering something similar to this for my kitchen. I think I'd add a shelf to make the vertical space usable and the top to stick out more to one side to be able to use it as a kitchen seating area.
That colour looks sooo good. How did you avoid getting squeeze out from the glue up messing up the stain? Does the stain colour glue? Also what's the purpose of using glue and pocket holes for the table top? Is just glue sufficient?
I like it. I'm going to try something like this, but I think I'll use biscuit joints instead of the pocket holes, just because I think it's cleaner looking. But this is great as is.
This is nice. The wife made her first one with pallet woods and a nice piece of wood for the work surface, now she wants to make a 焼杉板 (Shou Sugi Ban) version. Not sure about the flame thrower stage. ...
as an artist I can say that the plain pine with the turquoise top is a no go, it would look absolutely gorgeous with a dark walnut stain on the shelves and everywhere else, and that same top. really a lovely and functional piece too.
Saludos!
I really do like this project, it's creative and beautiful. I have mixed feelings on the lack of a protective guard on the table saw though, particularly since other people will likely try this awesome project at home.
I just finished watching your instructional video on this awesome technique. It was a great tutorial. Thanks a bunch. So it's nice to see it used in an application. I love the island. I only have one suggestion. Safety. You should protect your beautiful eyes. I noticed you drilling some Holes without goggles. 😱Otherwise it was a great video. I learned a lot. I really like this technique. I don't have a torch so that's something I will have to look into getting. And thanks for the detailed materials list. Very helpful. Again thanks for a great video.😎

That bowl thing under the table during the inteo spin raised my blood pressure a solid 32 points.

This should be done more often. LOVE
Additional shelf in the middle underneath for more pots would make this more useful to me personally. I really love this project. Thank you

Definitely adding to my "when in a bigger house" build list. Nice made!
Love this and Shou sugi ban is now my new favorite thing to say !!!
Very nice looks great. These are great ideas. The only difference I would use would be an apoxy resin. But before that, I would use a router and get all those corners around it out, it looks great.
Looks great, definitely will do it, but without the wheels

Very nice! Thanks for watching, and please share your build. I want to see!!
Oh my! This is the one I need to build!
Such a nice job you done with that mobile kitchen island👍
I love this. I wish I knew how to build this for my art supplies and paint. Buying one is too expensive and having it built is expensive. Maybe one day I will be able to make one of these beautiful kitchen carts. The color is beautiful
Absolutely genius work.
Simply beautiful and functional!
The shou sugi ban optic is so stunning
Thanks!!

beautiful work piece. well finished
the rustic table top is very beautiful
Wao! Excellent job Jonny.

Great video. Particularly like that top. Very different.
That red is gorgeous!
Made one of these recently for my son to give him more counter space in his apartment. Thanks for the video.
Cool island idea. Thanks!
Love what to did to this table top!!
Oh that is beautiful. I want one! Unfortunately I have neither the skill nor the tools.
all that HARD work in the shop while filming it in the best way possible then editing it beautifully .
you are AMAZING !
Thank you for the kind words!
Love this design. I keep coming back to it. May attempt to build
Do it! Send me pics when you do.
I'll be honest, the color is odd when it's being stained. I cringed. Then after the finish I started digging it. Awesome little island man. Keep it up!
I love the color! Reminds of scuba diving in the Caribbean. Thanks for checking it out!
Same! I was, all, like, "Oh, no, it's too much!" And then he wiped it, and I was relieved, "Oh, whew, that's better. Nevermind :-)"
Great job, but for my personal taste, I'd tint the base somewhat darker color, and probably would rout tabletop edges. Love this burning magic, and tabletop color choice
Very, very nice work Thanks
Love the colour.

Great craftsmanship! 👍
Super nice! Would be cool to attach some hooks underneath the slab for pots to hang
Agreed. The original design had that but I scraped it to fit my exact needs.
I love this! I would just want a bigger overhang or cut out for chair space so this could be use as portable table as well as counter space.
Lovely job
Beautiful job !!! Big thumbs up from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil !
Love that color!
Very nice sir :)
Also looks pretty simple to build except for aquiring a flamethrower...
Beautiful !! Loved it !! Pls share more
Love the stain!! Very nice!!
This is really really cool. Attention to detail!
Subbed!
Thanks Samuel!
That's a fantastic job! Thanks for the education! I wish I had more room to construct useful projects like that.
Thank you!
Jonny Builds you're welcome brother!
That's a really nice finish on the top - I've never seen one like it. I really like the chunky wheels too - so much more practical than little ones.
Thanks as always, Brian! I'll have a tutorial for the stained shou sugi ban in a few days.
I'm considering something similar to this for my kitchen. I think I'd add a shelf to make the vertical space usable and the top to stick out more to one side to be able to use it as a kitchen seating area.
Sounds awesome! Tag me on IG or send me a pic when you build it!
Love the finish on the top. Also like the spaces for the jars. Maybe a middle shelf would be nice
Need 1 for the fishing camp!!!
Awesome project. Man
Very pretty. Love the top, especially. It’s unlike what you usually see in a kitchen island.
Thanks, Adi! I made sure to design it strong enough for occasional kitchen island tabletop yoga! 😜
Awesome work Jonny! 👍👊
Im guessing you dont have a biscuit joiner. I think it could do with a middle shelf. Attractive table.
Good and attractive island table.
Beautiful work!
Beautiful. Nice job.
Thank you, Alexander!
well crafted and well made video, that's awesome
Great build. Thanks for sharing.
So pretty
