Miura drew the Black Swordsman and Golden Age arcs while listening to Susumu Hirasawa's Aurora album. Later, Miura invited Hirasawa to write the soundtrack for the 1997 anime and asked him to make it sound similar to Aurora. So in a way Berserk IS a manga with a soundtrack
The Aurora song is what I'm going to listen to when I read the last chapter of Berserk (if it's a happy ending)
Ooh ... That makes sense.
That's why the soundtrack fits with the Manga soo well.
Wow
Can u give me name
Legend has it that Miura asked the Composer for Gutse's Theme: "Is there any way you can put all of the suffering and sadness of human history in a song, then give it the slightest dash of Hope?"
Composer: "Say no more"
Composer : "hold my tear "
Composer: I got you fam
Susumu hirasawa : Got you king
Perfect
Shiro Sagisu is a man yet he delivers every time he makes OST for an anime
That sad OST... It hits differently once you know the story... 😢
Even harder when you read the *last chapter written by K.Miura 😢
It is not sad. Its genius transcends the simple emotion of sadness.

It really makes me sad when people say theres not a good adaptation for bersek cause the 1997 version is an absolute masterpiece. They were able to capture the golden age arc perfectly with their given budget. They made up for the lack of coherent action (which is an important factor of berserk) with amazing direction, great voice acting and a ridiculously perfect ost. Its still one of my favourite anime of all time and i highly recommend watching it after reading the golden age arc of berserk.
100% agree
Wish there was a full adaptation though

Guts theme makes you feel completely at peace but a feeling of this uneasiness but you just know everything’s going to be OK after you listen to it
All it gives me is emptiness, and it tells me I need to find a way to let that be filled with love, which damn ig does make me feel content that I know what to do, doesn’t help that I’m not too sure on how to do it but ehh, that’s the whole point, ig if Ik exactly what to do I wouldn’t care so much for making the right decision

I don’t understand what people are talking about with the 1997 adaptation. It was one of my favorite animes I’ve seen and you have to see it. And it’s soundscape is one of the greatest in all of anime (the 2nd song). I hope you listen to the rest of Susumu Hirasawa’s album because they are all gold
The 1997 is the best adaptation of berserk till this day.
@@mikamighty1607 the movies are pretty good, adds in what the series left out to make sense later. Halfway decent CG, rare, though I get it a lot of fans hate any CG. I would say they are on par if not a slight improvement though, just for the added assassins and stuff that would make sense later if they ever got that far.
@spare mobius I don't mind CG as long as its good but I don't know about 2016 and 17 adaptations of berserk because I haven't watched it mainly because I heat people saying its awful CG is bad and leaves and skips out some plots and stories

Guts Theme, is a very Melancholic melody.
Its a stark contrast with Gut's otherwise brash personality.
Cause in the end, Guts is a deeply tragic and melancholic character, wich is deeply wounded.
He's a charatcer that seeks his place in this world and also redemption for his Mistakes, by the only way he knows, Sheer PURE Iron Will and Strength.
This Theme is used in the anime when Guts as a self introspective moment, wich also serves to show that he is NOT just brute strength and aggression, but someone who's lost and try to find his Path.
When Miura passed away, i was blasting this Non stop for days, crying my eyes out.
Berserk’s Guts theme is one of those songs that just makes you FEEL.
As you can tell from the comments on that video, Guts’s story is very relatable, and the song encapsulates his feelings and the need to carry on and find acceptance at the end of a dark and twisted road.
RIP Muira-sensei, thank you for creating Berserk

Berserk is best defined as a “Nietzschean Tragedy” as Miura took a lot of inspiration from Nietzsche and his writings on Greek Tragedies
Guts' theme imo is the best character theme out there. Hirasawa could have easily made Guts' theme sound like a track straight out of Doom but what we got instead is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard, it shows that he truly understood Guts as a character especially in Golden Age just a closed off kid hurt by the world trying to find meaning and purpose on this dark winding road that is his life, despite being one of the most badass characters out there he is so human and relatable. Berserk is so fucking good.

Having recently read "Berserk" for myself, I can confidently say that it deserves every bit of respect that it gets. Miura, may he rest in peace, was a master of storytelling and an incredible artist. His dedication to his work was on a level that I have seen very few ever achieve.
As far as the OST goes, if there is one thing the Anime's have gotten right, it's the music. The OST is one of the most genuinely unique that I've heard in quite some time. It has hard hitters such as "My Brother" and "Black Swordsman" (both the regular version and the "Unleashed") as well as gentle, more tender tracks such as "4Gatsu."
All this being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction Nick!! And would love to see a Manga Reaction.
from the same composer who made Bleach OSTs
arguably the most badass opera-epic soundtracks in anime and ones of the most diverse as well
there are spanish music german music etc too
Berserk has two composers, Susumu Hirasawa and Sagisu Shiro. Hirasawa did the entire 1997 soundtrack, while Sagisu did much of the movies and 2016 OSTs
This is my sign to start reading berserk with the OST on, it's the first time I'm ever hearing it and never expected it to go this hard holy shit

Hey Nicholas, I've been here since you started and I can only thank you for giving us moments of you living these moments. They let us relive them too and now that you have started with berserk too. I can't help but be fond of this channel.
Berserk will drag you down into the pits of hell and then ascend you up into the clouds just like that, in two songs. This is why it's so legendary. 🖤
11:10 this part always gets me, Berserk is such a masterpiece
Berserk is truly a masterpiece. But you know what'd be even better than Berserk? Your reaction to it
Guts theme never fails to make me tear up a little. With all the context. Hearing it feels like a flood of relief knowing this only plays during moments he was able to relax. Its the most beautiful song ive ever heard.
That song pulled me out of my breakup with my son's mother. Very uplifting and ascending.
Forces and Hai Yo are two songs you NEED to hear from the Berserk animes. They are life themselves.
seconding this, Forces pops off so hard
Forces II too

Guts' theme song is one of the best things that ever existed in this whole universe and nothing can change that.
The whole Berserk into a masterpiece of an OST. RIP Kentaro Miura.
Berserk is one of the key inspiration for the Souls Bourne series that and HP lovecraft with european Medieval theme. There's actually a sweet tribute to Miura in Elden ring on top of a hill in Caelid where it looks exactly like the apocalypse sacrifice scene and a Giant sword slab surrounded by smaller swords impaled In the ground. Also you can get the dragon slayer.
Guts theme is genuinely magical, I felt so sad listening to it for the first time it made me really confront my mortality. I don't wanna lose the people I love man
Susumu Hirasawa and Kentaro Miura were the perfect match. Both of their works had inspired each other despite being completely different media (music and manga). And they were friends in real life too.
Such an awesome duo.
Guts Theme
Is a song of desperation and silence suffering
Perfect for the first arc of the Berserk manga
I started reading Berserk after I heard Guts theme from a stupid meme. The sad thing is is that when I started reading Berserk it was a few months after Kentaro Miura had died. It’s one of my favorite manga and even tho the series doesn’t have a good adaptation or one that covers a lot of the story I will will probably check them out. RIP Miura, a very talented person.
1997 anime is a damn masterpiece
Berserk was the inspiration to many media, not just other manga/anime.
Most famously, the Dark Souls series was inspired by Berserk. The design of the character Knight Artorius was directly based on Guts.
The huge contrast between the two 😂😂😂

The second song is by Susumu Hirasawa.
The author of Berserk was a big fan of his.
Therefore, when Berserk was animated, Susumu Hirasawa was in charge of the music.
"Hundred years war" and "Black Swordman Unleashed" are also lit AF 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I love how Nick just lets go and didn't pause at the second OST, shows how the Ost just...... let you be in peace and reflect on your life.

The Berserk manga is my absolute FAVOURITE
I love listening to these OST while reading Berserk, done it twice and will definetly go through another time in the future.
Yes we want to see you reading berserk
This is from the 2016 anime soundtrack. Performed by Shiro Sagisu. He did the music for the movies and the newest animated adaption. Susama Hirasawa was the original musical artist for Berserk and he did wonderfully. He made Gut's theme (gattsu), you should look up Hai Yo, Sign and Forces to start.
As for more from Shiro Sagisu, 100 year war is a personal favorite, also Blood and Gut's.
One of the hardest soundtrack
Second song was from the 90's anime, and despite barely covering the first 1/4 of the manga, it's the best treatment it's gotten in video medium. Still worth the watch. It's the theme for the main character Gutz, a lonely man who has gotten through life by only becoming stronger, born of a dead woman, raised by a mercenary who abused him in every way possible, before killing him. Becoming a sell sword for other military groups until the one he recently defeated basically sucker punches him on his way out, and starts to persuade him to join them, befriending their leader like a brother, learning later on that this leader has ambitions to the point of sacrificing every one around him. More comes after that, and further events in between, but that's something for you to see for yourself. Just know Gutz is the strongest man any one could ever be, but deep inside he's still a wreak of man, that just longs for happiness, if even for a few moments at long last.
While the original creator Kentaro Miura has passed on, he did train his art team to fallow in his visual foot steps, and his best friend and some times rival, has been given the OK to continue, and possibly finish Berserk.
Guts's theme just nuts into your soul
Listening to these OSTs is making me want to watch the 1997 anime.
And how have u not heard the 2nd OST in memes before? It's pretty iconic. I originally never would've thought it came from Berserk.
And that part where Nick says he wants to die now while the OST is playing could easily become a meme.

My man Nick, you should check out those Berserk OST's such as Aria, Ash Crow, Indra, Sign etc.. Every one of those is a masterpiece that will make you have an eargasm, a big one
Guts theme just makes me feel like i understand the whole universe
Berserk has my deepest respects as a series, as a work of art, and from a storytelling standpoint. It is in every way a masterpiece.
I was so glad I saw the 97 anime before reading the manga because when I did start reading the manga while Miura was still alive it was a surreal feeling. I could hear the music and art move before my senses.
Shiro Sagisu is one of the best composers not only in anime, but in media for me. Strongly suggest you to react to his other OSTs
Bleach, Magi, Evangelion, Shin Godzilla, Black Bullet... I miss the video of "Shiro Sagisu Symphony" that combined them perfectly

Berserk is simultaneously one of the most powerful and enriching manga/anime/soundtracks that has graced us; it is human experience in raw detail.
Also, that last soundtrack, gets me every time even 24 years later.
It's really funny how the second OST is used so many times for memes. I remember seeing one meme which is about a guy looking at anime girls, then he takes off his VR headset with tears in his eyes, and the climax part plays, it was quite funny.
The second ost makes you feel you are deep inside a dark abyss and you suddenly see a ray of light guiding you towards the top of that abyss.
