The filmmakers are quite difficult to listen to. They almost take the limelight away from Alex and act as though he’s uncomfortable with it when in reality he is a star. His personality isn’t just fascinating - he’s brilliant. He’s incredibly intelligent and speaks wonderfully well; he doesn’t need or even really want the attention but they would be better served in allowing him to have it and in showing gratitude towards his humility and achievement when being interviewed. They did an outstanding job with the film but as good as it was the film isn’t possible without Alex and they never do a great job making it clear that they appreciate that.
Great film & certainly deserved to the film crew; we watched it on an IMAX screen & had sweaty palms all the way through! One of many salient parts that struck me was Alex's decision to abandon the free solo climb in the early hours one morning saying it didn't feel right to continue & putting it off for a later date. Huge achievement Alex & have enjoyed the many discussions you have had about your experiences on You Tube.
Good job Alex!! For dealing with media and people that don't really understand what you accomplished. There are 2 types of people: 1) A person that understands what you accomplished innately, but is unable to verbally express what you did. 2) A person that knows the language of climbing and has experienced the actual feat you achieved (on some level). Each of the two, can rejoice in what you did, within their own understanding and they are able to communicate to others that might not understand or they might be a catalyst to people that dream of more..... I am a proud climber, that is happy to continue the discovery of new cracks, routes and faces!!
Wow Alex, is soo humble!!! Jimmy was ready for a hamburger and Elizabeth like always her words, professionalism and carisma are great!!!! What an accomplishment ! Congratulations!
So incredible and fantastic to finally see climbing being validated as the pure and profound pursuit that it is. It's come a long way from the early days in Yosemite where climbers were pretty consistently harangued by the parks enforcement folk. . Nice to see.
All the opening comments about how Alex is ... naive? And then he opens his mouth and eloquently states the obvious. That the film work and the team work went so well because of trust built up over two years of togetherness.
Been a big fan of Alex's ever since the 60 minute feature on him. Congrats Alex on a dream accomplished! Btw Alex does not look comfortable in a tux at all.
Both filmmakers are poor in explaining their own documentary. I’ve listened to these two on several occasions. I understand these two, with Alex, have worked together for several years but the filmmakers are too casual that the public is interested in Alex.
@@elliottt.yamamoto4473 Lynn Hill first free climbed The Nose in 1993. 6 other amazing climbers have since competed free ascents proving it is possible!
So Alex does all the hard work and is the key star of the show. Without him there would be no film and he didn’t get any awards???? Someone please explain this to me.
Looks like Chai borrowed Carol Burnett's wardrobe...the window shade dress. Or maybe not. At any rate, the designer probably wasn't a climber because the dress was oblivious to the requirements of gravity....could be an East Coast thang...i dunno. Fortunately outdoorspeople ignore such stuff as it is virtually impossible to hike, climb, or skinny dip in the vast wilderness without seeing neked people.
well...obviously you either.... didn't know what you were going to see (perhaps you thought it was a 'Free Willy" sequel), OR you're just being a contrarian troll, OR you haven't seen any film in a long time thus making this the best and worst film that you've seen in a long time.
@@rwhirsch I knew what I was getting into, otherthan the fact that the story-telling was terrible and the relationship between Alex, the girl, family, friends, and climbing was sad and confusing. Felt like a bipolar MTV drama
alex just wants to go back to the dressing room and do hangboard.
that is so true...get that fucki" jacket off me ; )
And that’s why he is special
Well deserved. One of the most amazing athletic accomplishments in human history and it's all on film! How great is that!
Alex is like, "climbing is cool"

I completely agree.
So so well deserved
A must see movie for anyone! Meru was just as awesome. I don't know how they are going to top these two Epic movies.

Thank you and Congratulations to Alex and all the crew for an excellent documentary that I am proud to show my children.

Elizabeth seems like an arrogant person
Just a perfect team ! Congrats
This is no doubt if not the greatest athletic feat ever

Teamwork is everything - congrats. to all!
it is so lovely how he is givin just a fuck...that is an individual
How is that? I don’t know If I am wrong but I see all people with their trophies 🏆 and what about Alex?????

Amazing accomplishment! wonder who's gonna solo the Nose ?
There are not enough feet and hands crimps, holds on the Nose. It is extremely slippery on El Capitan, particularly at the Nose.

It's a film award. Not a climbing one. He wasn't acting - not an actor, the production/the film is what is being awarded
Valerie Pallaoro - yeah that made sense after I said it. Then my wife told me the same thing also. Hey thanks for the reply. ✌️
Why didn’t Alex get anything??
Interesting point man. Wonder if Alex even cared lol
Where’s his trophy 🏆
Yea where is it?????
Alex is the only one without an award. Why?!
he's the film subject and not involved any other way.
Hes not an actor. Just a subject, he didnt make the movie in a literal sense. But yeah i think he should probably have one
Jason Lam: Alex should have received an Oscar trophy 🏆
@@thereseember2800 Nobel better for him.
Do you think he even wants one?
Jimmy's _really_ hungry. 😋
Alex is a awesome dude but I think he has Asperger
This is what she referred to when she was talking about learning to connect with people. "But" doesn't belong here, it is just part of who Alex is.

Jimmy is the shortest person up there and his hair combed to the side looks ridiculous
This was the worst film i've seen in a long time... and i like alex honnold
you should have tone it down a little on the troll if you want to bait people.

Blockworks that’s what I’m talking about! Bravo. You turned the trolling down just enough to make it believable. Job well done, I approve!
