My wife & I are planning a UK trip next year (we live in Adelaide, Australia) & your videos have given us some great places to see & places to eat. Thankyou Lee.
Your tribute to your Mom really got me...Nottingham Castle looks like an amazing place...one thing that the UK does well are museums , attractions and good old fare ...that pie looked 😋 delicious
Lee loved this video must go to Nottingham Castle, my friends mum lives there don't exactly know which part loved the look of the pie just like my mum used to make she was such a good cook happy memories, Lee loved the heart for mum funny you saying about burger King my mum used to always take my son Jason there he loved it happy days, ♥️😋😋😋 good you met up with your friend enjoyed watching, 😊
Great vlog Lee. Nottingham castle looks beautiful, quiet emotional when you think everything in the museum was worn or used by someone, and the detail on the clothes was wonderful. Loved this vlog even the look of the pie and mash.
What a great vlog Lee...insightful and touching. It's a beautiful place...I remember taking my boys when they were little. So emotional in the castle too....loved the little message to Mum. Thanks again for a fantastic 30 minutes. See you next time!
That pie and mash looked to die for...and as for Pete's lemon cake (moist). Nottingham and it's castle...what a cool place...and one hell of a history...Thanks for sharing Lee...All the best
This is so emotional, my dad was born in 1931 & he joined the army, he was in South America & Malaya, & south east Asia, he was so proud of his army years, he had the full works at his funeral, his regiment there, pall barers, the last post in the church, he had a good send off, he was in 10-12th royal lancers, thanks lee, this was great.
My wife and myself were champing at the bit at the thought of sampling the pie and mash at Nottingham Castle; but being simple Barnsley folk / tight Yorkshire folk, we don't feel a combined fee of £26 to enter the castle is worth it!
I love this vlog Lee 👌when you said they got a beach there at moment in town centre I've thought what!! 🏖🤔?🤣👍 I never knew your mum was a dressmaker my nan was a dressmaker aswell mostly wedding dresses but she did other things, and my grandad was posted over Egypt in the war how strange is that!! my nan would say to me about how she meet my grandad they got married just before he left for Egypt and then she had to see him go to say their last goodbyes as he went that's must have been so hard to do after you just got married and they would send letters to each other he was posted all over the place after Egypt she waited 7 years for him to come back home safe thankfully he did 🙏they had their honeymoon after he came back home that's true love for you, sadly both our no longer with us now❤ still miss them so 😢 so interesting the castle so much history can you imagine the view from that castle in the time must have been amazing 🌳🌲and that pie look delicious🥧 and I've love that note you wrote for your mum brought a tear to my eye 😢❤👌😘x
Many years ago, I used to go to Nottingham often, sometimes in the day and often for a night out, but haven't been for over 15 years or so now, so I really enjoyed seeing this video. I've never been to the castle and this is the first time I've seen a bit of what it's like up there. I didn't know there was a cafe there either. The pie, peas and mash looked lovely, one of my favourite meals. Nice one, Lee.
Would love it if you could do a tour of Wollaton Hall I grew up local and used to hang out there most Sundays. It had a fantastic museum and the Police horse stables. Thanks mi duck!
Nottingham is just another 'student' focused economy. 20-30 years ago it had huge factories at Raleigh and Imperial, to name but a couple. Every aspect of local amenities is now geared towards the two large universities at Trent and Beeston.
great to see Nottingham. I live in the town centre in the late 1960's when I worked for the county council out in West Bridgford. often went to the castle grounds on Sundays.
Good to see Nottingham. I used to live in Chilwell in the 1980s. Nottingham looks much better now. - to be fair it could not have been much worse. Broad marsh was a dump in 1984- cannot believe that it is still around. I worked briefly in Nottingham museum.
Another very positive video mate. That pie and mash looked great. Steak and Ale being my favourite of them all. Looks so much better than the grub they serve up at Warwick Castle. Nottingham Castle looks stunning. 9/10 for me. Cheers again for sharing👍
Hiya Lee, all I have ever used is my iPhone. I have to appreciate the number of times you place your camera down. You have no cameraman. Except for today. While eating. ☺Nice to hear your stories. I loved Wimpy back in the day. Nice walkabout. Have a great weekend.
Alright Lee. 👍 bless you mate.when I lived on the woodbourough Rd.we used to go to the castle twice a month to Waite for a Giro.lol the job centre was opposite.wede go sit by the lions.i love notts. I lived st Anne's by the chase...ay were in las am in a couple of days mate...what are you upto.
Hey hey! Ain't been in Castle for far too long. Brilliant little look around our home town. 53 yrs born and bred, love it 👊🏻🙂 Lee, what did you do for work at Nottm Post? Mash needs to have texture and all of these folk who like it pureed can clear off! 🤣Poxy chefs who think mash like slop is right, gimme a break. Cheers 🍻
Hey Lee you were wrong with the 73k subs. Believe it or not you’re now 74.2k subs so congratulations. Won’t be long before you hit 100k. That pie and mash looked the real deal and superb. Can’t believe Nottingham Caste, like Tenerife and Great Yarmouth my home town, have got a Wally Trolley! As ever great vlog Lee and yes I love Nottingham too although it’s been a few years since I was there. Interesting and fascinating war museum. Much respect to those who fought in the war❤️
Good to see the General again,👨🌾. Glad he enjoy the Fresh lemon cake. 😊Thank you for the tour. That pie, yes please. Want to talk about football. Back in the 80's for some reason my sister and I had posters of football teams on our wall. My sister supported Tottenham. I had to research from the website and the names for Tottenham that stood out; Ray Clemence (he had big hands or was it his gloves?) Ossie Ardiles and Glen Hoodle. For Nottingham Forest, I don't know if I was a fan, but do remember hearing a lot about NF during the 80's. The names that stood out: Peter Shilton, Trevor Francis and Viv Anderson. Another enjoyable video. 9 out 10.👍
Ayup lad, they say that the Lions in Nottingham will roar for the first time, when a Virgin passes. Loved Nottingham Home Ales. JANBOY in beautiful Thailand.
Love a castle, found out my ancestors owned castles in Cumbria, Northumberland, Scotland and France. The pie looked lovely even though I dont eat beef I can appreciate it looks amazing sometimes I wish I liked beef lol.
Hey Lee, real cracking vlog this. Nottingham is only 30 min from me and I've never visited. Now I definitely will on one of my exploration weekends with my 5 year old lad. He will love that castle and I'm sure the pie and mash ! Very heartfelt piece at the end that I can really relate to having lost my mum too. I wish people would make more time for family. Lives are too busy these days 😪
Robin Hood is one of my favorite British folk stories, glad you enjoyed yourself a meal truly fit for a king of England back in the days of Outlaws and Knights!
What a smashing video Lee, Hard to believe that was filmed on a phone. Never been to Nottingham yet, but you have sold it to me and lots of others, I expect. Castle must have been rebuilt in regency times, looking at the archietecture. We have many, many great things in Leeds, but our builder got lost and built our castle in Kent! As you say the food is sometimes a side line ( steak & ale and proper mash great though). Forest should use that walley train when you visit Elland road, just kidding love the banter, goes back to Mr. Clough after his 44 days at Leeds.
Great video Lee. As for oldest pub The Bingley Arms in Leeds Leeds Leeds is apparently over 1000 years old. Is it the oldest in England who knows, it tends to be a disputed argument from county to country claiming they have the oldest pub. Love Nottingham I've had many a great night at Rock City in the 80's.👍
One of my aunts lived across the road from ex Nottingham Forest player John O’Hare’s mum in Scotland. The Bingley Arms as a name and location is older than the Ye Olde Jerusalem. The building although old looks newer than I would guess than one from 953AD. I have never been in the Bingley Arms despite living a half hour walk from there.
Old Ferry Boat Inn, St Ives, Cambridgeshire. There are two main contenders for the title, ‘Oldest inn in England’ - and the Old Ferry Boat at St Ives in Cambridgeshire (pictured above) is considered by many to be England’s oldest inn. According to legend, the inn has been serving alcohol since 560 AD! The inn is mentioned in the Domesday Book and like many old buildings, is reputed to be haunted.
Hi Was in Nottingham last night and had Fish & Chips at the Cods Scallop restaurant ( have 2 or 3 outlets) and it was again the best I have eaten!, and nicely themed as well - worth a review if you fancy Fish and Chips again.
I did live in Arnold and love it and the big fairs and Riverside festivals. now back at home in lincoln please come we watch you every day since I got out of intensive care constantly. We love your variety. You would have so much to film here the steep hill cathedral castle, Bradford River all surrounded in places to eat and the best! Come on Lee it's only down the road haha
That was good the Pie and Mash with Peas anyway. Sheffield has a Seaside In The City at the moment too. Plus we have a couple of Cat Cafés at least that I know of lol.
Lee you need to try the pie at The Growler Inn located in Birmingham! Pie to die for, the growler they use is second to none, never had anything like it!
Great vlog Mac lovin the history mix. Apologies if you be already have but would love to see a similar walk around York. How about Croatia or even Transylvania 😳😎👍🏻
I remember when I worked in a 255,000 sq ft warehouse and I worked outside mostly loading trailers for B & Q! It stsrted spitting, I came inside and Yelled " It's spitting! Everbody in"

The meal looked scrumptious . Thank you for the hard work that it takes to keep putting these out. Much appreciated.

I was in the Art Studio. Head of Studio when Northcliffe took over.
