    Thanks for the GFX Buying Guide.
    I am primarily interested in the Fuji GFX for the following image aspect ratios:
    7:6 (to match aspect ratio of my RB67 SLRs)
    5:4 (to match aspect ratio of my 4x5 inch large format view camera)
    65:24 (to duplicate the aspect ratio of the Hasselblad XPan rangefinder)
    4:3 (to match the aspect ratio of my micro 4/3 digital cameras)
    3:2 (to match the aspect ratio of my 6x9cm medium format rangefinder and my 35mm film cameras)
    35mm aspect ratios (this smaller 3:2 aspect ratio would allow me to use my inventory of full-frame lenses mounted on the GFX)
    Custom 34.4x25.8mm image size for custom 4:3 aspect ratio to use with my full-frame lenses mounted on the GFX

    Love the 50s II. I got it for less than the R5... crazy. such good value and fun complement to a FF camera

    No complaints with my 50Sii -- I absolutely adore it. I shoot it with the 35-70 and 50mm 3.5. For less than $400 used per lens and right around $2000 for a used 50Sii body, it's not a bad used price at all.
    I don't see any long term need to go past 50MP for most of us. It allows enough cropping, doesn't blow the file size into the stratosphere, and quite honestly, the contrast AF is bang-on accurate.

    Great video 👍 best buy now is a gfx50r then once the new gfx100s is announced then the original gfx100s will be available used at less than half the price new!! So best to wait a few weeks

    Too late. I just got my GFX 50sII and I have no complaints. The AF isn’t that slow. But I came from x pro2, canon 6d mk1 and lumix S5.

    • @Purplefoxdl
      @Purplefoxdl 4 месяца назад

      Interesting. I have the S5. Used only with vintage lenses.
      I’m questioning myself about the interest of the 50s II in my case.
      Looking for the best image quality. No AF needed and I see there is lenses adaptors.
      Could you please share your feelings about your experience with this two cameras ?

    I owned both the 50S and the 50R. That sensor is as you describe 'luscious!'. Apart from bragging rights I am not sure why anyone other than a Vogue photographer might need the 100mpx sensor. This may be heretical but in the end I sold both cameras because for the professional work I was doing at the time, mainly reportage, and the AF on the MF bodies was not fast enough and I did all my work using the Fuji X-T3, X-H1 and X-T4. Given the new X-T5/X-H2 I am not even sure that now I would go back to MF.

      Can you say a little more of the X-T5 vs the 50R? What I'm trying to decide right now.

    Rumor has it that Fuji could be announcing the next model in September. Hope so. I want a medium format, but I can wait for the newer model.

  • @trevtog
    @trevtog 10 месяцев назад

    If I was a full-time photographer I might make the jump to medium format. As you stated, I'd go for the 100 MP and not the 50 MP. I have great glass for Canon and it would make more budget sense to go with the R5 instead of having to buy a body and lenses. For now, I am very happy with what I am getting from both my Olympus E-M1 mk3 and Canon R6 so I'll hold off for now.

    I went with the GFX50S II, just to build a lens system with, then someday I planned to upgrade the body. To my suprise, the image quality is so good, that I don't know what I'll really be benefitting from IQ-wise by going to a 100mp model. The images I've seen at 100% just look cleaner on the 50mp sensor. I know you can't exactly compare at 100%, because of resolution differences, but I think we're even splitting hairs at print resolutions. I am in love with the dynamic range of the big sensor though. Shadow recovery and color depth is incredible. I'm hoping for a GFX100S II to be announced, because I feel I'd appreciate the technology upgrades for a lot less than the $7500 of the GFX100 II. I want a CF Express slot, faster processor, newer sensor, higher res VF, and eye AF. That's my wishlist. In the meantime, I'm loving the GFX50S II.

    I'm in the market for a GFX and I know for sure I don't want the 50R and original 50S. I am looking at the 100, 100S, and 50Sii

    I love my 50S and if I was to do a video of it I think sitting it in a trail of unknown white powder would be just what my GFX deserves :).. Now to win the lotto so I can afford the 100 :)..

    Excited for the GFX100 II news next month..that was the only thing about these GFX models..the AF isn't the best..more for a "take your time kind of shot and subject"..haha now with the upcoming GFX100 II Fuji has said they have improved on everything..so hopefully it will be the best GFX model to date when it comes to the newer sensor, AF, user interface menus, processors, etc etc..can't wait..

    Between the Fuji gfx 50r, 50s II, and hassy X1D II, which would you recommend? They’re roughly the same price used. I also understand that gfx has more lens options that are cheaper but are also bigger and heavier. One of these would be the single camera in my kit other than my phone so I’m looking at the “best” in regard to a balance of image quality, size and weight of a body and lens combo, and the ease of use or “joy” in using. The fact that Hasselblad released lenses that essentially made the first batch somewhat obsolete in features does worry me though. Entirely possible that in a short amount of time there’s another line of lenses that is just better. Is that lack of IBIS or tilt screen on the X1D II compared to the 50s II a big deal?

    Hey matt, can you plz review the fuji xh2 (40mp) and look at its image quality in detail. I really think its truly special in terms of its output, the color and sharpness is stellar even compared to other funis and other fullframes. I recently compared to an a7r3 which is fullframe and while its cropiness still remians, the actual image it outputs is more pleasing espeically in color, contrast, and "look". Ithink of it as a mini gfx in a way. Ithink youd appreciate it and we would love to see such a video

      @@mattgranger yup saw it and liked the video very much, but I'm talking about the 40 megapixel xh2 (not xh2s). I really feel after comparing that the xh2 has a great unique look to the images, the tonality, the contrast, the sharpness is phenomenal. The output is really special imo.

    At this point, how does the Pentax 645 actually hold up against the Fuji? I see Pentax is still making them, and occasionally they discount them steeply.

      I havent tested it in years. I wouldn't consider buying into it nowadays personally. They are still asking more for the body than the GFX 50SII...

    • @mattgranger
      @mattgranger  10 месяцев назад +2

      Q3 is a nice luxury camera, hopefully they resolve the freezing issues. I am not sure too many people would be considering a Q3 or a GFX, as these are larger sensor and interchangeable lens.
