This video is how you explain integrity to young people. Doing what ever it takes to make it right, even if it cost you in some way. Great example to us and the young professionals out there, I applaud you, wish everyone had your work ethics.
Kyle’ I wish there were more contractors like you, that took pride in their work.!!! Your work is impeccable, attention to all of the details!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.
Yeah you get what you pay for...you're looking at an easy $500,000-$800,000 barn.....while most people want it for $50,000....you get what you pay for....seen barns built much worse last for 150 years.
Just goes to show, that there are companies & ppl, that do care about their products & customers satisfaction. Pretty awesome that the roof manufacturer had ppl out there looking at the roof & then delivered new material next day👍🏻 Also cool, that regardless of “time frame”, you didn’t leave the roof alone; but you redid it👍🏻👍🏻
As usual, your attention to detail is impeccable. Nice to see you have manufacturers who share your passion for perfection. Looking good! Thanks for sharing!
You guys do excellent work, your attention to detail shows in your finished product, the roof looks great, it shows you take pride in your work, I know the customer is happy with the roof.
Really strange seeing you taking panels off of the roof instead of installing them. This is why you are my no.1 metal and pole building guy. Totally appreciate your work.
Having that Mfg stand up and pay for a complete tear off and replacement is something you don’t see often. The fact that you have video documentation of the problem and process helps. The fact you have a huge following on social media... Priceless! Many other worthy contractors have had to eat jobs because Mfg know no one’s watching.
I was having my house painted with PPG paint...the sample I approved was slightly different than the color I selected from their book of colors. I only noticed this after the house was 1/3 painted. PPG came out and verified the problem and covered the cost of the paint for the entire house.
Had a problem this year with some snap lock. It was rolled too tight, and there was a small bow head to toe on every sheet. Dealer replaced right away👍
I love working with that type of closure for the ridge compared to the foam closures... so much easier to work with and a whole lot better in durability
Free tip! Instead of sliding the sheets, lift the nail flange side until the sheet comes off of the other sheet. It comes off real easy without any damage done.
So I heard an interesting tip from Steve Baczek (not sure if I spelled that right). When they do standing seam flat panel they run some foam caulk filler rope down the mid line of the panel to "pre-tension" the metal to prevent "oil-canning". It also serves to add a minor slope that helps water run to the sides. I really thought that was an ingenious idea and figured I'd share!! Love the channel!!
I've used Metal Sales as well. They've been a good company. Because my orders went through a local lumber yard the specfications would shift. Unbelievable. I love your metal craft. I just had no idea about those details. Cumulatively they really dress up the roof.
I saw an interesting way of dealing with oilcanning on Matt Risinger's channel. When installing they tape a piece of caulking foam backer rod on the under side of the panel on the flats between each rib. This run of backer rod underneath the metal slightly bows each flat outward. While you have do have a slight bow, it controls the other movement of metal which causes oil-canning.
Way to go for fixing it. I was planning to drive by this next time I go to White Pines. I can tell you do a good job but I think I would have been really shocked if I saw the first roof as the final product. I am always standing back looking at my work and people think I am crazy. I can't stand seeing light bounce off of products wrong. I sing I'm Differet by Two Chainz when thy light bounce off wrong. Everyone working with me hates it when they here it because it means we have to start fixing stuff. You do a great job
I have seen this problem with cedar shake vynil siding. The 1st time it took about 2 years to show itself. The manufacturer's warranty the issue without a fight. And luckily I was the one being paid for the warranty repair and not the original installer. And now I've seen it few times.
Hey Kyle, get yourself some tool bins for those scissor lifts, they have nice corner mounted ones that you can pack full of all your shit so you don't have to keep on bending over, truly a game changer. Great vid.
I know you're a very busy man. And I know when you have down time, you don't want to be on your Website. But please answer 1 question for me? I know you and your employees have tried every Drill and Impact Socket Drill Driver made. I can't afford but 1 set. Will you please tell me what Brand you and your employees use? Thank you for your time and continued videos. I've learned a lot. God 🙏 Bless You.
O M G what a hassle but integrity it the main issue. At least you are getting more experience in dealing with standing seam. Nothing like a man that signs his name to his work even if ya gotta do it twice. With this grantees you will sleep lome a baby!
That building must be on springs it sure moves a lot. Just kidding. It’s funny though. It’s nice to see you guys use something a little more tricky than barn metal. Been doing residential standing seam for 20 years with clips not slots
That "closure foam" also keeps bats out. We see a lot of metal roofs that don't have that, and when they have bats, fixing it usually more than doubles the cost of a bat exclusion.
When removing SS, slide down slop to clear eave tab then flip the sheet over face to face with attached peice and pops out easy a $hit. Just like closing a book.
Use heavier gauge, longer pieces on ridge cap, and form them with some contour to them to make them much stronger would be nicer, we use 24 gauge and 14’ sections on our ridge cap, and always form with several equal small bends on either side to increase strength and stiffness and they look much better from the ground too. ... and we make them 2-4” longer on each side than the ones used on this roof so the tops of the panels or tape doesn’t show -
You mentioned the colored butyl tape. It's funny, I always thought your white butyl tape was odd. The stuff I used in commercial storefront was always black. This was several years ago. Might look some up in a cr Lawrence catalog.
As an old roll form operator it looks like the operator installed the roll of metal on the spool spinner/feed spool way to tight which causes imperfections on the finish product proof is the imperfection are the same center to center on the finish panel which is the same as the spreaders on the feed spool at the mill
Regarding the oil canning. Kyle has met a builder named Matt Risinger at a trade show and Matt has teamed up with super star architect Steve Basec (not sure about spelling) . Steve was doing some mega mansion project on the east coast... probably 15 million daaah laaws ....and they used flat roof stock on one roof..... Steve said they use a 3/4 inch backer rod ..ie foam tube...down the center of each roof panel to pre stress the panel so it has no oil canning. Neat trick and it seems to work. Hard to believe a roller off by 1/1000th of an inch could cause that much stress on these panels. I think it might be far too tight tolerance on installation... need some room for expansion contraction anywhere in the northern part of the USA. But will see how these newer ones will solve the problem. I'm dubious about that.
Is the metal sales you're referring to, is that the roll former or the actual steel manufacturer? By the way thank you for all the content you put out. I watched a bunch of your videos and built a pole barn shed. I learned a couple really good tips from you, especially that knot for setting up the batter boards! Thanks!
That roof is amazing!! It's a shame that there isn't something they can change about the ridge material or fastening method to keep it from oil canning
I am glad someone else mentioned the oil canning on the ridge cap, to avoid using rivets you must install perforated z clousure and an open hem of ridge cap then you can snap the ridge cap just like you do the rake. You can alway use the foam behind the perforated z closure. This will also give you better fire rating .
Also should always use heavier gauge metal for ridge cap, prevents oil canning. Or a z flashing closure and a hem on cap to clip into the z gives less fasteners. Manufacturer should pay your labor for demo and reroof
With your panels being 16" wide, you still had to put two ~8" panels (a little over) on both sides. Wouldn't it have been nicer to have made your roof structure just the right size that it would have fitted a full number of 16" panels? Just sqeeze the overhang a little. Probably something for your next project with this type of metal roof. Still, a beautiful roof ... I'm jealous, the metal roof on my cabin is just from the Farmers Coop. :) But a good tip, it was super cheap.
If any chance when you come up with a corrugated roof project would you be able to show us how you’re installing them specially your detailing parts. From start to end. Thanks in advance.
This video is how you explain integrity to young people. Doing what ever it takes to make it right, even if it cost you in some way. Great example to us and the young professionals out there, I applaud you, wish everyone had your work ethics.
You have shown integrity in the work you do, and the manufacturer showed integrity in their product. Each very well done!
Kyle’ I wish there were more contractors like you, that took pride in their work.!!! Your work is impeccable, attention to all of the details!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This man is the standard of what a grade A contractor is suppose to be amazing again boys🤙🤙also greg don't forget leg day 🤣

This guy is a great carpenter really cares and takes pride in his work really rare these days
not rare. its most people don't want to pay for quality work

that you have the integrity to fix this even when most people wouldn't.
Dang dude. I was stoked for a second that you were in Oregon. The state. Great work none the less.
His looks and voice are a shoe in for the star of a tv show.
I'm sure the birds will appreciate it very much.

This is good from every person. Good for you and good for the supplier.
So satisfying watching the protective plastic being peeled off!
As usual, your attention to detail is impeccable. Nice to see you have manufacturers who share your passion for perfection. Looking good! Thanks for sharing!

You make it look so easy..looks great..👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Place looks nice. Drove by on way home from work. Can't believe how big that scissor lift is.
@Mr Innovator Wayne Being built behind and for this place. www.ukulelestationamerica.com/
Looks nice in details, the birds will love it also
Job well done men. Looks great. Homeowner happy.
Had a problem this year with some snap lock. It was rolled too tight, and there was a small bow head to toe on every sheet. Dealer replaced right away👍
Yoinks!! Hope your cabin in the woods roof doesn’t have that defect... at least this one has a straight run
It’s not a cabin
That would be horrible! But i would expect them to feel and see the defect as they explained in the beginning of this video.
I love working with that type of closure for the ridge compared to the foam closures... so much easier to work with and a whole lot better in durability
Oh, and the roof looks phenomenally beautiful too!
Much better looking, good job guys.
Well done Kyle. That is awesome that you have such pride in your work.
Free tip! Instead of sliding the sheets, lift the nail flange side until the sheet comes off of the other sheet. It comes off real easy without any damage done.
If they’re on your back, it’s a different kind of relationship.
😂🤣
🤣😂😆
👏👏😂
Looks so much better... Great job all

I've seen all your videos. YOU DO EVERYTHING RIGHT
What a great job you did guys. More contractor should be like you

Those magnetic Cougar Paws are game-changers.
Great looking roof, great job keep the videos coming.🙂🙂🙂

Bravo to you and your supplier, well done!
Roof done in cold weather. Later in hot day metal goes in bobbles. Need to make sure, that plates can expand.
I think screws on the ridge do a better job of hiding oil canning, can regulate the pressure better of the fastener.
its what we do and allows for the fillers to be replaced more easily
Great work, black trims always look sweet when done well 👍
I have seen this problem with cedar shake vynil siding. The 1st time it took about 2 years to show itself. The manufacturer's warranty the issue without a fight. And luckily I was the one being paid for the warranty repair and not the original installer.

Thank you for wearing fall protection!
What a craftsman!
You both do great work.
This channel is gold
Greg talking about 2nd back day, when it looks like he skips leg day
Nothing wrong with those legs.
Yep, don't like the roof cap oil can results. Good call.
Your attention to details is amazing! Beautiful job on the roof! 👍👍
Damn great job. I’d love to work with you guys. Very professional and take pride in what you do.
That is beautiful roof. It gives the building nice clean looking sharp lines.
Hey Kyle, I saw a cool trick the other day when using rivets. They used self tapping screws to make the holes instead of a drill....no shavings!
Hey Kyle, get yourself some tool bins for those scissor lifts, they have nice corner mounted ones that you can pack full of all your shit so you don't have to keep on bending over, truly a game changer. Great vid.
That black roof looks amazing!!!
Great job on finishing the roof.
Looks great! 👍😁
Beau travail très propre bravo 👍👏🇺🇸
Nice service from supplier. Next roof material free!
Awesome work 👌
My husband built a metal house from TrySel and we have a 2foot overhang. It is nice.

Thats awsome, you making bank on that roof job!!!!!
I suppose this is a lesson to all of us to youtube our work!
Congrats on another great video and closing in on 500k subscribers
a real physical demonstration of deja-vu..
Good work Kyle. And a better work ethic. Well done.
Awesome work Kyle! 😃👍🏻👊🏻

I'd buy everyone of those panels off of you if I were closer.
Absolutely lol
Probably had to send them back
Great video and excellent drone shots as always.

I am not gonna be able to walk past another building again without looking out for those bubbles in roof rib panels...awesome video guys...Stay Safe
Excelente trabalho, muito bonito esse telhado.🇧🇷👍
You should do a demonstration of flashing a standing cricket behind a chimney . There is literally none online .

It’s the roll former. They buy the coil and and manufacture the panels.
Groetjes uit Holland 👋🏼
Netjes gedaan top ✅👌👍
good job
That roof is amazing!! It's a shame that there isn't something they can change about the ridge material or fastening method to keep it from oil canning
What about a second layer of ridge metal that is installed with only adhesive? Easy to lay down and would cover well?

Good instruction. To let you know your type of roof is a snap-lock metal roof .Not standing seam!Big diffrence on installation.
Looks great
You might of been able to get it hundreds off. Super discount. It would of held up the other way. Pass that savings on the the owner.
You pry the top with a flat screwdriver and just lift up on the seam they just come apart no need to slide them down.
If any chance when you come up with a corrugated roof project would you be able to show us how you’re installing them specially your detailing parts. From start to end. Thanks in advance.
Roof looks great. Excellent work. Would rather see screws on the ridge.
Tell to Greg not to worry back days but the leg days. Calves doesnt grow by them selfes.
great job
