    The owner stated it had 10.5:1 compression. You can clearly see the head is marked 75cc, it has a 4 valve relief flat top piston( which on a good day are around a 5cc dish if not more.) You can see the block has not been decked, so I would assume the piston is still 0.025" down in the hole. I can't see the part number on the head gaskets, but by the looks of them they are a fel pro 1003, which is a 4.166 bore 0.041" thick head gasket. That calculates out to roughly 9.35:1.

    3970010 350ci 4bolt main was probably one of the best engine blocks ever made between GM cars & trucks, if treated respectably they can last a really long time, mine lasted over 10yrs running hard 400hp and my buddy had a decent tuned one for almost 20yrs. with a cam & timing chain & gear change halfway through,
    make that a stroker engine with good parts and your getting some torque & horsepower like a bigblock and the higher revs of a smallblock that's a win-win right there.

    I change the oil and filter every 5.000 miles so I don't realy care about the filter at all and the variety of US Car spare parts is not very high over here in Germany. I just dont't want to order a just an oil filter from summit if I want to change my oil...thats why, but thanks for the comment!

    A 350 with a 400 crank is also a 377. You have to bore it out to get those extra cubes.

    Hi sure this is a fuel sucker, but thats the way it is with high HP Motors! A EFI is way better, more reliable but a LOT more expensive than the 850 Quickfuel which is on the motor right now. I don't need reliability, cause its a saturday night special only driven on the weekend, so I don't wanna spent all that money for something I don't really need!;) Thanks for the comment though! Cheers!

    Guys just to inform you...I sold the Air Gap Intake and put a port matched GM Performance 10051102 aluminum high rise single plane with a 1" 4 Hole-Spacer on the Engine.The next step is to trow the Edelbrock shit in the trash an put a 850 Quickfuel Carb on the engine. And this is not a weak hydraulic flat tapped cam in the engine, its a big Mechanical flat tappet comp cam (COMP Cams CL12-678-4). Anything bigger need to be a roller...The engine is now in the 500+ League as planned! Cheers!

    Nice motor! good combination of parts. I hope the eddy was just to fire up the engine while the 750 dp holley was on backorder..... I would hate to see the potential of those AFR heads wasted on an edelbroke carb.

    Sorry we live on trees here in Germany, we don't have books here! That's why we don't have a clue of everything! Thanks for reminding me! Small hint, much not necessarily helps much! The carb was a transitional solution, it's long gone and the rods a way stronger than you think! H Beams are not the final answer, probably you have to read a book first!?! Schönen Tag noch!

    hey man i know how you feel. bought an 88 toyota pickup. 2 months later rod bearing #3 welded itself to the crank, wiped the oil pump, that wiped the head, that wiped the cam, that wiped the rockers. the guy before me replaced the timing chain tentioner and left plastic remains in the oil pan. that clogged the oil pickup. i was doing 98 mph down a hill and then it started slowing down. 1400$ later i have new crank head rockers oil pump bearings gaskets 1 rod.sucks dont it :P

  • @partycommandos

    @aminimaleffort u need to build what ever floats your boat !!!! in today's modern technology it is easy to get 650hp on pump gas now and still be cost efficiant and with this technology we able to take a mouse to new levels of hp that was once not capable of doing. for instance my heads i bought last year are old news and now afr has got even better ones to replace mine plus there killer molded 2pc intake to help on cooling. so allready my engine is outdated so build max hp before its outdated

  • @383TruckRider
    @383TruckRider  12 лет назад

    You are right with the compression, it's only 10:1, I asked my friend. That was my mistake but the piston is almost at 0.000" in the hole so he calculated 10:1, he uses probably the same software and stuff you do. He has a real big machine shop over here in Germany and builds american V8 engines for over 25 years now, so I trust him! But you showed very high knowledge in engine building, that is remarkable. Thank you for your comment!

    Nice motor. I like 383 and 400 motors. You're right on going with that 850 DP. I had a 750 Holley vacuum secondary on mine with a RPM manifold. I ended up going with a 800 DP and 1" spacer. I run an Isky Z-25 solid cam and 3500 stall, 1 3/4 long tube headers and Pro Topline heads 220cc intake runners. Will boil the tires off my 84 Silverado short box and does a sexy dance in the middle of the road hitting second gear! Thanks for the video. Good job!!

    @383TruckRider I'm in the process of building a 388. Was told by Jerry who owns the machine shop that if the piston rings are not file fit properly with the Kieth Blacks that they will expand and rip off the top of the piston. This my first build so any pointers?

    @383TruckRider Oh i know all about AFR heads, we have AFR 195s on an 11:1 388ci with a solid roller cam, it made 499HP ON THE DYNO....... I bet yours is closer to 450ish though, still a good set-up... What cam are you running?

    you can have 500+hp with a airgap intake? cause I got a 327 with a RPM airgap and it barely fit(very near) under my stock z28 hood! i want to build a 500hp 406ci and dont want to have a aftermarket cowl hood just to fit a SINGLE plane high rise intake!!

  • @kevmcd72

    Off topic... Looking at the pistons and the connecting rods: are they miss matched by about 0.100" (too long)? List at end of video says 6.0 rods and 1.22 pistons... if holding 6.0 should be 1.125 pistons... right or wrong? Might be why it blew up...

    Good vid, my only beef is going with a cast crank on a stroker, not a good idea. I would have saved the cash on the efi set up and spent it on a forged crank. Lower end failures are the most common problem with stroker builds. And contrary to popular belief MSD is JUNK always go Mallory. Congrats on the build though it looks sa weet!!

    Guys thank you for your opinion. I do know that a 850 might be a little to big for that motor but with my intake, cam and the AFR heads it really performs great! My engine builder also suggested to go with a 850 with this setup, it's a annual booster Carb and the engine makes beautiful vacuum even with the big cam. So everybody is happy! I will have final nummbers on friday, then it will be on the dyno for the final tune.

  • @383TruckRider
    @383TruckRider  13 лет назад +1

    @Mikej1592 Thanks Mike, I appreciate your comment and of course CCR is one of my lifetime favorites!:) The failure was caused by a faulty piston ring, which expanded under heat so much that it popped off a part of the piston. When I did the engine the first time I didn't touch the pistons so the problem was already in the engine...so I found out the hard way!:D
