I used to work as a staging manager for Kroenke Ent when it was Pepsi Center. There's a point in the bottom center of the floating scoring display with a slot that has to align with dead center of the ice and the court. For The Nuggets, dead center of the court was further north from center ice by about two feet. There's a tiny 1/2" red "x" in the dead center of the ice and also on the court. So we'd lower the display and place a vertical laser plumb device into the slot under the scoreboard and adjust the scoreboard with the motorized rigging lifts until the laser light hits the the "x" on the floor. So even if the court itself is off by a fraction, we can still align the scoreboard dead center. Peace.
Ice gets melted for the offseason. It might also get melted and remade while the all star break is going on if they have time to do it at the arena as well.
@@nickbob2003 That's actually not something I know. Arenas might have a drain system on the event floor, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had to pump it out somewhere. When the Zamboni finishes resurfacing the ice, the snow it picks up gets dumped into the melt pit which is basically just a big hole with drains for the ice to melt into. I could see them pumping the water into the melt pit. Installing a full drainage system around the whole ice refrigeration system running in the concrete would be an expensive and difficult task I assume and not worth it for the maybe 2 times a year that they have to get rid of a large amount of water.
I always wondered how they did this
I once went on a tour they explained thos
These background workers should be paid as much as the players...kudos to them.
Zamboni guy is a gem😂
1:10 Why do they always lower the center scoreboard? Thanks!
Light changes/recentering I believe. That or maintenance.
@@Bandito7537 Thank you, makes sense.

Might be a dumb question but what do they do with the ice during off season?
I wonder the same thing too

At 1:10 what is the thing popping into view on the left side?
It's a balloon, it just looks weird because of perspective
It’s a blimp. They fly around and drop gift cards during halftime and intermission.
@@joestechman7766 I got a gift card from it too! Best hockey moment ever.
