    Hi friends! Today I'm partnering up with Picture Curable to show you their 4 new curable lacquer shades - it's a hybrid system that isn't quite gel polish and isn't regular nail polish, but something in between! It lasts like gels but removes way easier :) Which color is your fave?
    I also chat a bit about their new dry hand and nail oil!

    Very interesting. I like that it soaks off easily. Only down side I see right now is that you need their specific lamp. It would be nice if it could cure other gels or would at least work with other UV lamps.

    • @VerrueckteKatzenLadie

      It takes quite some practice to remove gel polish without really damaging your natural nail. I recommend not using a primer/bonder if you want to be able to soak your gel polish off completely. I personally use rubber base and just apply regular nail polish over it. This way I can grow my nails quite long without them breaking and the nail polish lasts longer than usual because it doesn't sit on the natural nail. You have to use an acetone-free nail polish remover if you want to switch nail polish tho!

    I would love that all nail polishes would have this easy to remove curable gel formula. The ideea of having a wet polish that you can manipulate as much as you want without it drying (especially important for nail art) and then the instant drying with the curing lamp, plus the added durability AND easy removal !! It's just bonkers. Perfect combo

    Agree that it's harder to find interesting gels. But I'm saying this whilst currently wearing the prettiest gel nude in existance from born pretty from the modern romance set. It's a weird nude shade. It's like a tinge darker than my skin tone. In some lights it looks more cool in others more warm. And it took me a second to notice that the scattered shimmer is actually holographic. It's so tiny it's hard to really see it shifts. But I'm most certain this is holographic. And it's a one coater for me. I have medium length nails and it coveres the visible nail line enough to look blended almost. As if I did a gradient. But this is a 100% gel polish so it comes with the sode effects of gel. Except this set in particular comes with two top coats (matte and shiny) and a base. So even if I already had both (except the matte one) it's always great to have extra. I have to play around with these more as I feel like the base and top aren't the best. But maybe I didn't cure them enough. Because they scuffed really easily and I noticed the matte one came off in chunks on some nails. Like there was a spot of shiny stuff where the top coat came off in the center. I cured the shiny one longer this time and it seems fine after a week.

    How long do they last? I always see people saying they like gel for lasting a lot longer than regular polish, but always wonder how true that is because regular polish lasts me 14-21 days after which point it starts popping off at the nail bed end because of nail growth (I always paint my full nail up to the skin as I find the gaps ugly) & by then I'm normally ready to change what colours I'm wearing anyway. I think I'd get bored if I wore the same colours an entire month or more!

      These are listed as lasting up to two weeks but that guideline is probably more for people like me with oily nail beds (whereas regular polish lasts 4-5 days max!) If you have dry nail beds and can make your polish last long, you could probably wear this system (and probably most gels) for a month at least haha!

    Can you try to cure these in a regular lamp and try another gel polish one coat type under their lamp to see if it works? Im not really understanding how this isn't gel and a regular lamp just lower wattage.

      In all honesty, the warning on their site to not use a regular gel lamp scares me too much to try it, I don't want to damage my nails haha 😅

    • @AlexaFaie
      @AlexaFaie Месяц назад +1

      UV light comes in different wavelengths, its not to do with wattage. Different chemicals cure under different wavelengths. You may well find that using a regular lamp of a different wavelength will superheat the polish leading to burns as worst case, best case would be it just does nothing and stays uncured & you give up. There is a recommended duration of exposure to UV lamps as it is so its also possible that the reason is that whilst it might cure under a different light, it would take so much longer that you'd be unnecessarily increasing your chances of developing skin cancer which is already very high if using UV lamps to cure polish at "recommended" doses.

      @AlexaFaie thank you! I did read this lamp for the Picture Curable is UVA, but I'm not sure what regular gel lamps are. Interesting stuff! Wavelengths have always confused me though.

    I'd wear the same color for a year, clothes or nails. I mostly wear black anyway for clothes. For nails, does it have to be the same nail polish or can it just be various formulas of the same color? I went well over a decade without wearing nail polish, so a year with the same color isn't a hardship, lol, and there's always toppers? 🤷‍♀️

    The formula looks too thick and dry. I know you said it leveled well as it cured but it would frustrate me while applying it, especially on my dominant hand. I really like the idea, though. I use gel mostly because I can go right into my next task without worrying about denting my polish but removing it is awful.
