Thank you so much for these stamping platform tips. I had never heard of the diamond art gel mats before your previous video. I'm glad to say that I have some arriving today. I think they will also be helpful with holding ink pads in place while I'm blending. Looks like my stamping jig will be coming out of the drawer again too. It's years since it's had an outing.
I still have my ancient jig and clear acrylic mat for positioning rubber stamps...it would probably take me weeks to find it, so your suggestion here is brilliant. I don't have a Misty but I do have a stamping platform and can rig something up, fairly easy. Thank you for your common sense approach to getting the most use from our stamps and supplies! I'm a new, very happy, subscriber! And moving your coffee helped me relax, I know if it was in my crafting area, it would soon be all over everything.
LOL - When I watched the video after edit - I was glad I moved that coffee too! And I'm sure you can use any stamping platform. You may need to make a tape hinge for your clear jig, but that works fine too.
I ordered those silicone mats after watching yesterday’s video! What a great idea! Now, if I could just think of another use for those wood blocks! I hate throwing anything away that seems like a good item to recycle.🤪
LOL - Trust me I have a box of them! But enough is enough. Do you know a wood crafter? I bet they could use some. And they make great fire starters when everything else fails. LOL
Stacey of Scrapbooking Made Simple did a Saturday with Stacey video awhile back, maybe a few years ago. She used mini calendars & attached them to old wooden stamp blocks as gifts to sit on someone's desk. They turned out beautiful. I'm going to try searching RUclips for that class.
Good points. I bought the corners for the Misti and do not use them. They will be great help line up my panels. I have some nice pieces of acetate I can use to help too.
I completely understand Marilyn. I don't use the corners often. But they are perfect in this application. When you are stamping on a jig, you have to have enough room to move the paper around on the Misti deck afterwards. The corners give you the exactness you need to have the room around the jig.
You're welcome! This is not a new concept, jigs have been around for years. But there are a lot of new stampers that may not be aware how useful they are with a stamp platform and rubber stamps.
You are welcome Gigi. This is the only way I know to get precision repeat stamping on a platform with a rubber stamp. Clear stamps are of course completely different.
Great tip! Getting them sraight is why I don't like to use rubber stamps. I don't have a lot of them, but what I do have I've removed from the wooden blocks.
It's really helpful if you are making several cards going different directions, etc. Jigs have been around for years and years. But this is the only way I've found to have accurate stamping with a rubber stamp on a platform.
I tape a piece of acetate the same size as the platform to the top of my stamp press . Then flip it down ink my stamp to do a quick check where the stamp will position . Adjust the card stock underneath so it’s in the right position then flip the acetate up and stamp.
I thought about that, but wasn't sure how easy it would be to adjust the cardstock underneath with a full sheet above it. Good to know! Thanks Brenda!!
@ my pleasure. I found it good that the acetate never moves and you only have to adjust the cardstock underneath. And I love your idea with the sticky bead mat.thanks
I am working on my sentiments first. It does create a bit of a problem if they are not foamed, because the rubber won't stick to a verticle surface. My plan is to use 9 pocket baseball card holders in notebooks by subject - Thinking of you, Sympathy, Birthday etc. I'll have some stamped sentiments in the pocket with the stamp. Seed packet pockets are 1/4 sheet size and hopefully will work for the larger stamps. Time will tell. I'll do a video as I get a bit further along in the process.
G'day Julia, this tip is not new to me as I have used it many times in my Misti. It is fantastic how you get perfect placement every time. A piece of acetate is essential in every craft studio, and I have many uses for it in mine. This is very similar to a stamp positioner to which I use often when using AI stamps. I don't use the Misti for my AI stamp placement. Yes, and that silicone thingamajig... I have located it on eBay. God's blessings my friend and sending lots of love and hugs your way. 🩷
I know - this is definitely nothing new. But so many people are only used to clear stamps. I thought a bit of a jig refresher might be a good thing. Have a wonderful day my Friend down under! God's Blessings & Hugs from across the world.
@@SeniorSusieStamps Julia, I understand perfectly, and sometimes even us seasoned crafters need reminders of the tips and tricks that are available to us. I appreciate you and all that you share with us on your channel. 🩷
When I use my wooden mounted stamps I draw a line on edges to the top of block . This let's me know where the stamps is on block. So far it's been OK. Also I use a pad under paper do it's softer to stamp image. Thinking of removing all from blocks.. THANKS AGAIN for info. Trying to get the sticky pads. Wondering if we're they sell diamond dots kits if they have sticky pads? Did see on Amazon. Ones you linked too aren't available. Ty again.
Try doing a general search for diamond dot sticky mats and see if there is another brand. Or check Walmart or your local craft store in the diamond painting supplies?
Are you asking about a stamping platform? In my opinion, they are definitely worth it. But if you're comfortable with the original jig system. It works really well. I just find them to be a bit fidgety.

Mine had been is storage so long I never could find it, hence the package cut LOL

Oh my - I just love these ideas - I’ve been struggling with really wanting to use a platform but not knowing how because I have all the old stuff
I totally get that. Most of my stamps are older as well. And I really like buying used stamps so some of them are in less than pristine shape.
Another fab idea! Thank you. xxx💖💖💖
Not a new one, but it works!
Sundays with Susie are the best! Thank you!
Thanks Sharon!
Brilliant again. Thanks Susie and have a beautiful day x
Glad you thought so!

Those wood blocks are good fire starters for wood stoves and fireplaces!
They sure are!! Used them that way many times.
Thank you Susue for info.

Another great idea! I ordered the sticky pads in the AM can’t wait! ❤
Thanks Andrea!
Great tip. Thanks!
I was so glad when you moved your coffee. It was making me nervous because I knew if it was me I would bump it for sure!!
LOL - I am a bit of a klutz, so I am glad it didn't end up on the floor!

You are very welcome!
Julia, this really is genius. Thanks so much. ❤ 🇨🇦 😊
I thought so too - it really opens doors for our older rubber stamps.
I have one with grid lines. Love it! The MISTI lid is useful for photo polymer or silicone stamps.
That makes great sense to me!

This is SO clever, thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Where did you get that sticky pad to use on rubber stamps?
I got mine from amazon. The link is already sold out. Look at Walmart or your local craft store. They will be with the diamond painting supplies.
Super great ideas. Since I have a multitude of wooden stamps, after you take them off the blocks, how do you store them and identify them

Good tip Julia, if I still had my wooden stamps. I gave mine to my grand daughters friend, so I'll give her the tip.

@SeniorSusieStamps ok, thank you
I still have the original jigs - i still haven’t purchased one of the updated jigs anyone else? I’m not sure which will be best
Are you asking about a stamping platform? In my opinion, they are definitely worth it. But if you're comfortable with the original jig system. It works really well. I just find them to be a bit fidgety.
For those of you who don’t have a misty, you are missing the best thing that could’ve ever happened to you for your stamping
I completely agree. They are the best for precision and repeat stamping.
