Interesting take. When I read the end of this chapter, my take was that Kaido got the legendary death he so desperately wanted. He died by the hand of one of the most/if not the most powerful devil fruit in existence that hasn't awakened in 800+ years. A devil fruit that makes even the world government crap their pants at the mere thought of its awakening. He died by Joyboy's fist. How more legendary can that be? That was my view at least.

Oda has stated that not even chopper or law can save the people affected by the smiles. It’s a genetic mutation. Unfortunately they will not get cured and oda said he did that on purpose. He wanted the smiles to be such a deplorable thing that not even he could save them (oda the author)

chopper and law are doctors and smiles are DF they effect the dna and change the person so a doctor wont have a cure for that it needs a scientist that can understand dna lineage and can change it but still even someone like caesar who created them doesn't know how to cancel the effect and change the people back also if u have a cure for smile then it should work on regualr DF as well because its all in the DNA of the user
