I'm old as dirt and have been camping my whole life. I especially love the Sierra Nevada Range. I really love what you bring to the camping table Chris. There have been a few times over the years that I was unable to explain what was there just outside camp. However, just over twenty years ago I saw something that defied all logic and have been afraid to speak on it for lack of belief of those I might tell. I'm so glad to have found this site. I love what you do and now feel that I can tell my story. I will send it to you Chris.

UNTIL recently,, there have been several really good channels on RUclips that have allowed us to come forward to tell our stories without being ridiculed and it's scary how many hundreds of thousands of people are coming forward with very similar yet not similar encounters by the SABAE and several other CRYPTID BEINGS..

In 1973 four of us from a small town in the Columbia River Gorge. We’re headed down I 84 when we all spotted a figure up on a cliff south of the freeway, we stopped the car. We watched this figure for quite some time. of course nobody had a camera. The one thing that is consistent with a lot of these stories is the way the creature sways back and forth, and that is what we witnessed as we were watching. About a year later two of us were featured on a documentary about the search for Bigfoot.

Once again, superb story telling of this Father’s encounter. Vancouver Island is a hotbed of sightings. There is another chap who lives there, on YT, called the facts how to hunt, who like you, gives a platform for people to share their encounters with these beings, after enduring years of either remaining silent or being ridiculed.
One thing to note , that if you are wandering the woods alone, you should at all times have a GPS tracker with you, as recommended by David Paulities of The Canam Project (missing 911), also found on YT.
The advice which I take away from both these guys is, if the woods become strangely silent, leave the area immediately, as there is now thinking that maybe “portals”, open up from time to time whilst walking on a trail…. One might think this a bit “woo!”, but so many people go missing in your North American National Forests each year, and this not a recent thing, as newspapers back in the 1890’s reported people just disappearing, and either found dead miles away from their point of disappearance, or never found at all.
Just stay safe Chris, as I so love your videos. All the best from Germany :-)

I think children, both boy & girls, who are brought up camping and such tend to be better well adjusted adults. There is exception to the rule of course but having that uninterrupted bonding time with your children out in nature is really something special.

    Hello Chris,
I'm from Apple Valley California the high desert, 🍎
I really do like watching survivalists channels/ shows.
I use to watching this one particular RUclips channel for sometime. And I have to say I was put off by it one day because she basically laughed at the idea of Bigfoot /Sasquatch existence. And eventually I shied away from it. Because she made fun of the Bigfoot/sasquatch topic.
That of course was very upsetting to me! As I'm sure it was for other people whom have experienced an encounter with Bigfoot/ Sasquatch.
You see, I have had a one-on-one - face to face personal encounter with the King of the Forest Bigfoot/ Sasquatch on my aunt's 10 acres of woodsy raw property back in 1985 when I was 17 years of age. I'm now in my early 50s. It was so traumatizing for me, that I suppressed the encounter ... and barely came out to my parents, and family about it in 2020 during Christmas. And because I am a credible person, and considering what I do for my livelihood. My family was very supportive, and it was a good feeling to share my encounter. It does help to talk about it! And hear other folks encounters with the hairy man!
I can honestly say that I love your respect for nature, all the skills that you teach us viewers about, your advice, and your time that you share with us. Also you sharing your info. on your camping gear is very much helpful! Thank you!
I love the stories you share with us veiwers, and you tell us about. It's always a pleasure to listen to your channel. It's very enlightening and educational as well. Thank you for your advice and survival tips. Your knowledge is priceless!
As far as my encounter with bigfoot/sasquatch goes, it definitely has affected me to the point where I will not go into the forest period ... Not to hike, camp, fish, etc., etc., etc.
What I love about your RUclips channel (which I bumped into clearly by accident) ... You're open minded and make us viewers feel comfortable and safe to share out stories!! Also you respectfully share with us the encounters of others, and other stories of missing persons. There are so many things we just don't know about that lives in our woods, forest, deserts.
Thank you so much for sharing and caring! 🙏
    God bless!
Showing support from Apple Valley California, 🍎

And we have a ton of woods and mountains with thousands of caves! Presently I live on lake cowichan in the Cowichan Valley and we hear some weird noises often...the one thing I can say is at night everything is 10ft tall and freaky in the wild...and that sounds like a black bear with cubs to me....they move around more at night! Sounds like fear got to this guy and he saw some bears at night...i see them often and we have a ton of Roosevelt Elk that roam thru our yard daily...and again there is zero grizzlys here so I don't know what to think about this story! There actually are grizzlies there full time. Have heard from several COs up island that there are around 11 full timers now. Been that way for awhile. Plus the ones that island hop in the summer/fall. North island has a few on a certain few rivers every year. A cool fact too is on the western side of the island in a cave there was found the bones of 3 different bears from hundreds of years ago. One was black (obviously) one was grizzly, and the other was from the American short faced bear, the biggest bear to ever roam the planet.

They also have black bears, grizzlies(they swim over from the mainland by Campbell river, also a healthy wolf population as well as deer and elk. Dr. Bindernagel a famous Sasquatch researcher actually lived right near where your story took place. He moved to Vancouver island in order to research sasquatches. He has several good foot print casts from Vancouver island as well. Excellent story. As a side note, Vancouver island has several missing people in the wilderness areas. These beings aren't abducting people. They are way too intelligent to do something that will lead groups of people to their area. Their would also be very obvious and violent signs of attack at the point where they were abducted and tracks/hairs would be found by the trackers in the search and rescue parties.
I also would be very hesitant and careful believing anything david paulides says. It's very well known that he twists details and facts and puts out disinformation and misinformation to suit his right wing narratives.

There is no reason to fesr the woods, I have backpacked, canoe camped and hiked them in the USA, Canada and now in the UK, having moved there 5 years ago.
I have encountered black bear, moose, wolves, coyotes, wild dogs in my travels. It was 8 years of backpacking and canoe camping before my 1st bear encounter.
In 2007, I had a sasquatch encounter not once but twice in a three week period. It never stopped me from going into the woods and I intend to do so until my legs will no longer carry me.
There is solace in the forests and for me a place to recharge and get away from the trappings of the modern world, its distractions and noise, but like anything else learn before you go off. I learned to read maps, use a compass, build a fire, a shelter, I learned to read weather signs and other basics. I learned how to camp in bear country. It's about being prepared. There are always unforeseen circumstances but that should never stop one from adventuring out and enjoying life.
I would far rather spend a night in a forest than wander the streets of many of our cities at night any day.. 😉

As long as you respect nature and the animals and don’t do anything stupid like sleep with food in your tent or directly outside your tent in bear country. Or try to pet a baby bear or any baby animal for that matter. Don’t swim with gators. Don’t swim with grizzlies. A bull moose is sex season is one of the most dangerous animals on the planet!!! These are all things that I know some stupid person has tried and it did not turn out good. Be safe if a bear comes to your tent and you somehow make it out don’t go back in your tent and go back to bed. Yep someone did that and bear came back and ate them. Don’t run from predators.

I enjoy your videos as much as enjoy Mr.ballen RUclips channel.
Keep up the good story telling. Stay safe out there in the woods. I'm part native American and trust me when I say that the woods can be scary at times. We have stories in Alaska ( Tlingit) about strange creatures out in the woods and sometimes in the water as well.
I believe that Bigfoot isn't the only creature out there. Once again you stay safe.

Middle of the night here in the UK (1am) and not far from where I live there's this forest where there's lots of Bigfoots... I hope I can sleep tonight and preferably without nightmares, lol...
Glad to see you released your weekly video, Chris, I was getting worried, what with you always going hiking on your own. And a fascinating story - very scary though! I could really feel the fear that Rob must have had for the kids. Indeed I've heard that Vancouver Island has its fair share of Sasquatch. And bears! Quite a wild bunch up there - and that's just the locals... Victoria is beautiful though, it's the capital of Vancouver Island. Gosh am I glad that Rob and the kids were okay!
Beer with honey? I've never heard that before but it sounds good. I prefer soda - I love the sugar in it, lol.

The cave was a good location to tell us this story. I think it lent itself to the creepy atmosphere you were creating in the story, quite well.
The story itself was very creepy. You went into some great detail as per the description of the encounter, and that helped set the visual scene, plus the actual visuals you put in the vid, really seemed to tie it all together. Especially the pic with the red eyes, that was perfectly timed.
Lastly, everything about this set and setting, and the story itself was good, except the ending. It kinda fizzled out on the last line with the way it was conveyed. At least from a narrative perspective. I'm no story teller or narrator or writer, but all the same I was just left with the impression that something was missing, from the ending. Trying to tie it all together by mentioning that the protagonist wondered if he was being watched the whole time, was a good idea, but it seemed to lack the necessary punctuation to really drive the story home. I'm not sure what that punctuation could be, to fully tie it al together, so I am not gonna be much help here, but it is probably worth considering, as everything was really, really solid in this story and narration.
I only mention it because when I tried my hand at youtube a few years ago, I would appreciate when people would tell me what I was missing, as I never even noticed when I missed something or did something in a less-than-optimum way. Sometimes those outside perspectives were valuable, because it allowed me to think in a way I normally would not, and it helped me put something together that my audience seemed to like more and react better to. So I thought I would try to pass along the good will and attempt to be (admittedly vaguely) helpful. Perhaps if you can think up a way to punctuate this story and make it seem complete, you can then add the paradigm to your other vids and consistently make great, creepy and scary videos that your audience can enjoy for as long as you want to keep making videos.
