4,22million damage in a single shot, and a crash with uh...lots of balls on screen, which was already at 300k damage...yeah this would have been a HIGH total damage run
@@maxboot2115 it is over 6 million. Every time an orb goes through the double damage the damage does multiply by two even if orbs are still in play. So it jumped from 3 million to 6 million.
By some quick maths that was 36 Duplicatorbs, each of them with Multiball1 for a total of 72 balls maximum, all of them trying to duplicate refreshes and crits
That would mean he hit 4 billion damage, though we don't see numbers anywhere close to that. I think the game just couldnt handle all the balls + all the refreshes.
It looks like there was a 6083988 in the lost timeline as well. Gotta wonder if that last poker chip activation borked it, because thats the frame it crashed on
@ Yes, there is a cap at ~2 billion. However I have found a vid of a guy reaching it and the damage glitches out but the game doesn't crash. So it must be just the sheer amount of events happening simultaneously that crashed, not that one number.
19:30 - The Super Slow-Mo Lasorb is hilarious, especially showing up just before the big crash where everything froze for real. The fact that you didn't have EITHER of the two Multiball relics when that insane went off to crash it makes the fact that it could have been _even more insane_ just shocking. (Really glad the recording survived, AND it wasn't a tragic loss of the run either). Lastly, it was too bad that the Instigatorb was totally redundant with it being a bomb run. It's kind of a neat option at Lv3 to be able to skip it and still make the next attack hit everyone, which can make for some neat combos. Glad everyone got ta enjoy this one!!
During the peglin speedrun at GDQ the developer was providing some commentary and he mentioned that every peg that has been hit during the round will not show up in navigation. Hitting a refresh just before the end does not matter.
the pumpkin and poker chip combo actually seems kinda busted because it looks like they coded it to have the .5 align each time with the pumpkin slot. so you’d basically need to brick the shot 3 times in a row for it to half the damage
20:31 - Breakdown for The Shot of Destiny: - We have the Orbosite Reaction giving us a 4-way split right out the gate. - Two Summoning Circles in a row means we're firing 7 shots total, into the 4-way split, sitting at 28 balls. - And finally, Duplicatorb has Multiball 1, which means each of those 28 balls splits once, giving us a grand total of 56 balls. Game crashed at around 3,000,000 damage. Maybe something to do with each one also duplicating all the crits and refreshes 3x each? lmao
@@noah.2B Probably crashed because too many orbs are in peg positions at the same time as a refresh so the game just freaks out, it does that sometimes when you have a lot of balls on screen
I suspect it was the Duplicatorb's other property, replicating every Refresh and Crit 3x, while hitting basically every peg multiple times and simultaneously. It effectively refreshed the board every hit, filled it with Refreshes, and hit every peg at once, all at the same time, dozens of times per second. No wonder the game crashed.
Something I only realised about the Necrorbancer recently: You can only crit if you have some non-peg trigger for it. It is honestly worse than a peball in my opinion. Maybe if it could hit *removed* pegs, rather than inactive ones. Also, that was a 42M damage shot, and also also, this is why I never take the gambling chip. If you do not have multiball, it is too risky for my taste. And if you do have multiball, it can easily stack overflow into negative damage.
I think if necrobancer always started at the bottom of the deck, then it could be good if you remove all your refreshes. but when you start off with it you have to skip because it can't hit anything.
Everyone talking about the high dmg, meanwhile I want to point out that the pumpkin pie does seem to always spawn in the "x0.5" poker chip hole or at the very least has a very high chance to do so. Also, the dmg is not halved when an orb enters "x0.5" and pumpkin pie is active on that hole.
I remember on my 3rd ever game I managed to hit the underflow. The number was something e30 then it cycled into negative that same number. The ball did nothing
so the crash happpend when a multi ball was fired from 2 summoning circles after an orbisite reaction making 4X3X3X2 or 72 balls on the screen at one time.
Not that it really matters with the information that is being hidden but just fyi, any blur effect you put on a screen can just as easily be unblurred by doing the opposite effect to it... The only way to properly hide the stuff is the tried and tested 'put a big black box over the information' since that is purely destructive.
You're right about the pegs, but I reckon wrong about the strategy. Not refreshing was the correct play. It makes it much easier to keep track of which ones you have already hit. You're not having popped pegs interfere with hitting unpopped pegs. Spiderweb levels are second only to invisible levels for absolutely unpredictable and chaotic bounce paths, except the web levels are far more likely to just funnel you down the same hole repeatedly. Overall I actually agree with Tom's choice. He's playing while having to be entertaining, which doesn't leave much time or neural bandwidth to sit and plot out a shot that will definitely reopen the path he wants to take while also clearing more unpopped pegs.
@Aussie_Archmage While I agree with most of that, the last part is actually the other way around. Tom was focusing on avoiding the refresh when it didn't really matter anymore and he could've just chilled and fired wherever
@LuisDiego It doesnt proc the 0.5 So if you go through it the dmg doesnt get halved but the ball appears up top again. I kinda saves you 3 times from halving the dmg. Only once the pie is inactive the dmg can get halved
@@LuisDiego The pie effect happens before 0.5x is applied, so it almost cancels out the downside of poker chip since you need to hit that hole 4 times before damage is halved.
Oh man, if you watch the final shot 21:51 at 0.25x speed - you'll see that _ALL THREE_ of the Pumpkin π resets go off without triggering the ½ damage, and getting him an additional orb… and EVERY SINGLE ORB that gets Poker Chipped goes into a 2x slot. It could not have pulled off that amazing synergy more perfectly.
So you had mentioned that you wanted to do a level without refresh. I vaguely remember one of the creators saying that the pegs removed at the end of play were any hit during play. So even if you refresh, as long as you hit those pegs during play, you should be good to go during navigation
