Teach! Matching the vocals is so important and REQUIRES knowing more than just a couple of chords. Obviously "wrong" is heavily contextual in this sense, but the WHY makes the difference. I will say, in a solo situation(meaning no choir harmonies) those chords may be "less" wrong unless you're a purist, in which case, you would have to play those chords exactly every time.
I absolutely agree! I made the same comment during the live premiering. Playing by yourself versus playing with a choir can make all of the difference!
Exactly my thoughts. If I was playing without the voices singing, I'm sorry, I will play that diminished chord very very well. By the way Kingdom keys I need the link to that your solo work. Ooooh mennnn.
For me I play the Diminished cause it was just easier when I was learning, now I can’t stop, I train by ear so I heard it wasn’t sitting just right but I quite frankly couldn’t find what was missing. Thanks for the clarification.
I THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR POINTING OUT THE CORRECT & WRING CHORD PROGRESSIONS ON “TOTAL PRAISE; I’M GONNA CORRECT MYSELF ON PLAYING THOSE CHORDS BECAUSE I PLAYED THEM WRONG TOO; ALSO WILL YOU PUT ON FULL PIANO TUTORIAL ON TO PLAY “AT THE TABLE” BY RICHARD SMALLWOOD ASAP PLEASEEEEEEEEEE? I THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO, & MAY GOD BLESS YOU CONTINUOUSLY.
Lol. I had the first one right, missed the second one. This explains why when I’ve played with some musicians the first chord clashed. We all missed the second one together though 😂
@@KingdomKeysNation Very well said. I use the diminished chord for solo accompaniment or improv. situations as well, but for choirs and ensembles, strictly Bb7. 👌🏾
How did I miss this one?? Lol. I love it. And I did miss that dominant chord. I was taught a diminished chord years ago and never thought about it. But it makes sense now. Thanks for helping me out! Great video K.V.!!!
I’m sorry (and not to sound arrogant at all), but I thought this was common knowledge. That’s shocking to me that those chords are heard differently. Wow!
This video is great - and correct! BUT - and this is a pet peeve of mine - PLEASE stop referring to the note as F# after you've established we're in Db major. There's no F# in the key of Db! The note is Gb! Yes, spelling matters! It determines function. If we were playing in C# major, the note would be an F#, but since you put us in Db, it has to be a Gb.
Hey Levert. Not sure if you saw the video in response to this, but I did do a full breakdown of the song. You can find it here. ruclips.net/video/xzuKH9G5m-o/видео.html Thank you for the support! 😁
Hey Emmanuel. Thanks for watching! I actually did a full breakdown to this song which also included the intro. You can find it here! 😁 ruclips.net/video/xzuKH9G5m-o/видео.html

@@immanuelchukwudike Got it. From what I can hear, it sounds like a lot of the same movements that were already covered within the song with a few added embellishments. But we can definitely go over this one in the future. :-D

I'd have to disagree playing the 4 major instead of a minor completely changes the whole context of the song.

Never knew about to dominant chord either haha thanks for sharing and clearing it up
Hahaha! My pleasure.

Hahaha. Hey, you aren’t alone. We’ve all been there! Glad to help
Make sure you check our part two because I believe I had a chord I missed in this video as well. Lol
The diminished is a common mistake but I've never heard anyone playing the 4 instead of the six.
I've heard it a few times. It's not often, but I have heard it.
I've always heard the first three chords as I-vi-V, and I'm not primarily a gospel player.
The D diminished works too
Yeah, in a solo situation. But it’ll clash with your choir if they are singing it correctly. 🙂

Likewise! Key of Db.

I wholeheartedly agree. Usually I do say G flat. I got caught slipping. Lol. Thank you for that! I’ll keep that in mind moving forward!
