oh yeah it totally did! I completely forgot about that episode until I saw this comment.
I instally knew it by Patrick saying "you thought plankton worked alone?"

Seriously though, the person who did that art did amazing, SpongeBob's face just shows the SHEER sadness, fear and grief over the fact that his own best friend who he's known for years just betrayed him like that and especially with his current appearance because of the greasetrap.

Story idea for this.
Set during the first Spongebob Movie during the trench scene. Spongebob and Patrick stand on the edge of the trench having lost their car and been shown that Plankton has taken over Bikini Bottom. With no way forward and nothing to go back to, Patrick blames Spongebob for the situation they're in. Their argument comes to a head when Spongebob pushes Patrick away from him, accidentally sending him falling into the trench. The last thing Spongebob hears from his best friend in the world are the words "I HATE YOU!" as Patrick falls into the maw of a hungry sea monster.
