💖Ahmir, congratulations on winning Oscar for documentary for SUMMER OF SOUL! 👍 👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
and Grammy gram!
I met john at his short lived songwriters festival in Aspen and had a chance to sit down and have a coffee with him. Such a humble down to earth guy. You’d never know what a badass talented dude he is when you talk to him.
Oh man X-static is in my top 6 hall & Oates album. I NEVER hear anybody talk about it!

Gzzzz Ahmir you and your team are doing it up with these damn interviews........ I'm over here nerding out like hell!!! All I know is John Oates and Daryl Hall were a big part of my childhood musical Playlist in the 80's because they along with Queen, MJ, Elton John, every great R&B/Soul singer, group or band, jazz musicians and rock & bands of the 70's and 80's were all that my family or family friends would play at house parties, cook outs or if they were just having a little get together at the house.... Great music really truly make up the soundtracks of our lives
Great Philly trip down memory lane. My uncle was a part of the Philly sound in the early 70's with his band The Soul Devanlents/Force Of Nature.Tommy Bell,Bunny Sigler,Gamble and Huff,John Madera were all a part.
Congratulations on your Oscar Sir Questlove!! I am sorry it was over shadowed, but your effort is not forgotten. Great interview. When do you get your own show? Ya know yer shit. ✌️🎶😎

Oates has valuable life AND educational background for Quest to mine info-John studied journalism.
24:13...ay quest', if you were born in the 1970s in philly, it was still gang warring going on..the height was early '70s at that...then came the "no more gang war in '74" campaign I think, by philly gangs, beginning in south philly I think...but it was still jumping...

No questions about the Ooh Yeah or Change Of Season albums? Otherwise, good interview

John Oates 👍
When Daryl shows up. Don't say "blue eyed soul". He hates that term.
I don’t think Q agrees with the term. Sounded like he was just saying how the fandom basically put that hanger on them for obvious reasons.
Da 'stach
people need to hear about soul, taking the genre shit out of it.
L.A. PROBABLY DID HAVE THE BEST EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES AND MUSICIANS IN THE 70'S BUT FOR SOME REASON MY FAVORITE ALBUMS FROM THAT ERA WERE CUT IN MEMPHIS, PHILLY AND NYC..
ASIDE FROM CHICAGO, SOME STEVIE WONDER, GINO VANNELLI AND STEELY DAN..
Nashville too
@@2020TYBO was just gonna say yeah there’s Chicago. Sorta in the same vain of Rock and Soul.
