- This is a real problem! The Java fern and Crypts in this tank look terrible. The leaves are full of pinholes and dead tissue. In the previous video several people chimed in that the problem was likely a potassium deficiency. Well let's see if this taakes care of the problem.

What a fantastic topic! Potassium can be such a pain, if I remember, it can be displaced from a binding receptor by something like sodium.
@@aquaticfanaticsuk thanks Keith. And you got me on that. I used to teach soils and fertilizers. I obviously need a refresh. 😁
Tanks for sharing. I have to dose extra potassium in all my tanks.
Also, easygreen has potassium. 9.21% soluble potash. Npk 2.66-0.46-9.21
Even with all the potassium in easygreen I still dose lots of extra potassium
@@Merb34st I’m hoping that does the trick. I guess I missed that on the easy green label. I’ll check it out. Tanks!
API Leaf Zone only has 2 ingredients:
Potassium and iron
Funny you say you can't find potassium in the ingredients...
I obviously wasn’t paying attention. Thanks for catching that.
Hello! I'm very curious why not clip the worst leaves now?
@@LushSaltyAquariums I do pull them as they loosen, but I guess I could spend a bit and do that. I guess I’ll have to do that. 😁
Hey Steffan, when I first replied we were out of town in a hotel getting ready to go to Disneyland. But after sitting in front of the tank for a bit, I realized that it would be far too time consuming. As it stands, the leaves are at least still photosynthesizing. If the extra potassium does the trick, the new growth should look better and the damaged leaves should easily detach. ~Ron
