@michaelbeams9553 It is a hard road. I am trying to think about how much she loved Christmas and always made it special, so although I will not have the heart to do everything, the candles and holly will be in her honour. I will try to think of how blessed I was to have had her with me for so long, and miss her every moment. I hope there is someone in your life who will give you a hug and hold your hand when words are not enough. 💜
We stopped the big family gift exchange this year. My kids are all well into their adult years, and I'm very tired of all it takes to do the gift exchange. Santa finally retired at our house🎉 My adult kids are relieved as well❤
My family plays Christmas Bingo. We put random gifts on a table and when you get a Bingo, you grab a gift and quickly open it in front of everyone. You might have a pocket knife, a Barbie doll, or maybe a snuggy. Lol It's a low budget good time.
I cut way back on Christmas years ago. We started doing a family movie night with hot cocoa and appetizers. We bought dollar store gifts in a stocking for each person. Most fun we've had in years. My nieces and nephew loved the DT gifts as much as the mini ATVs my brother bought them. I almost laughed at that.
I am a Muslim, we don't gift each other in Christmas but I have a very kind-hearted Christian friend who always gets me a gift or two. I appreciate it a lot and decided to do the same with him every Christmas. My personal opinion (I am not sure if I can have one in this particular topic though 😁) always bring gifts to those who will appreciate the act, not the price tag!
Yep. Got my mom her Dollar Tree wall calendar that she expects every year, and probably nothing else. I only wrote out 6 Christmas cards, only to immediate family, and one family friend who is a wonderful person. I used to exchange with my neighbor, but it's just too much this year, financially, physically, and mentally. I started out with Christmas spirit right after Thanksgiving, put my string of lights in the window (which I swore I wasn't doing this year due to electricity going way up last year, but I needed some joy), but I've fizzled out already. Writing those 6 cards yesterday felt so exhausting.
My favorite Christmas gifts were the little things in my stocking. My Mom would wrap up each little nail polish, hair brush, candies, always those chocolate coins and Santa, little great things my Mom would find. She always had a cute little stuffed animal or figurine peeking out the top. It was so much fun unwrapping each little thing! Really the best thing is to enjoy your own company and if you have them, the company of others. Cats and kids know the box is the best.

Same here. I stopped giving gifts last year. I think gifts made sense long ago when everyone lacked something. But today everyone (including me) has everything they need. It just adds stress to the holiday so my gift is enjoy the season, go see the mall decorations if you like, and don't worry about giving me a gift. I don't need anything.
I don't know if it's just my stream and what the algorithm puts on it, but I've noticed this year there are a lot of videos about thrifting gifts from the thrift store, or making gifts at home. I'm also seeing a lot of videos from people who are saying the Black Friday sales were really bad/nonexistent this year. I'm fine with thrifting and DIY gifts, but it does suggest to me a level of financial strain that wasn't here last year.

We just spent thousands of dollars on surgery for our beloved dog. You look very pretty today with your hair down. I like your words at the end about working on forgiveness etc. to me that makes a person look pretty with love shining from the inside. ♡
Many years ago now (over 30!!), I was walking our dogs by myself in an isolated area of protected native bushland, right next to Aldinga Beach in South Australia. I looked up & saw that I was being watched by a tall, athletic seeming man, fully dressed as an American Indian. He was probably 75 feet away. It was so completely weird that I made an immediate, adrenalin fuelled exit from this wooded parkland, very happy that I had about 5 dogs of various sizes with me. What a bizarre encounter. I've never forgotten it! So I can identify with your reaction. Sadly, my weird encounter was way before mobile phones.
I wish we would turn to no presents at Christmas! Maybe trinkets in a stocking for kids, like the stuff you put in an Easter basket, but nothing for adults! We could still have the same decorations and lights, meals and get togethers, but no presents. Would Christmas survive if we did that, I wonder?
Some people are only doing 1 HANDMADE present per child, and.married give 1 items to each other. It cuts cost as well as MAKING SOMETHING makes it special. ( my mom knitting a sweater for dad one year, he wore it to work for 2 years, office job. And kept it for weekend for nearly 10 years)
I wish I hadn’t bought as much Christmas as I did, and I wish I had bought over the past year versus now. I typically dislike Christmas because of the commercialism…and realized this year that I don’t have to participate in the commercial aspects of it. I can reinvent it for myself and just let the chips fall where they may. I have routinely gotten gift request lists from in laws and other relatives! Unbelievable. And I keep telling myself that my gifts don’t have to “make their holiday wonderful.” That is up to them! My gift should just be a memento or a token that I thought of them. But now..,maybe I can get away with just calling it good and not spending for next Christmas!
Just want to say, your hair looks fine, like the Cover Girl. Continue the good fun of becoming you. Always feels nice to contribute to the easing of another's ailments. That's what we are here to do in life. You can always give a WRITTEN letter of recognition, inspirational words, and personal encouragement, in a nice card, to those who "have everything". Remind people how to read cursive! HAHAHA! Holiday Blessing to You!
My kid is an adult-money is her request. So be it but thru out the year I picked up necessary useable items needed in a home-dish & laundry soap, dishwasher soap, TP, toothpaste/brushes, etc-when I found them on sale! Gosh, just the basics have risen! The retiree budget doesn’t allow me to spend much but I look for those bargains! Buying the necessities helps them to buy other things they need-FOOD. Did this last year & they appreciated it & were very humble. A retired friend has health issues so I bought him one of those clean the air machines & a new blanket. His kitty is getting a throw , stocking, & cat food. The days of wasteful spending are over! Need necessities required!!! Chinese take out for dinner-a Christmas Story-puzzles, Christmas movie, & family!
I’m sorry for the loss of your Mom. I did not know that before. I can understand why Sue is important to you. I also understand the Christmas present thing. The thing that that I appreciated and that made me smile was when you were describing the massage and you referred to the scapula/shoulder blades as the “wings”. I recall doing the same when I was younger talking to my family and everyone thought it was so funny and cute that I would call them The wings. It really warmed my heart to hear you say it today. Thank you for that. It’s been the hardest year of my life. Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas 💕🙏🏼
Toys for Tots is begging for toys in our area donations are at an all time low. If you can, please please buy a small toy so a child will have something to open on Christmas day. Thank you for suggestions on how to comfort a person in end of life. Blessings
I haven’t done any Christmas in years it has become to nothing like it is supposed to be but this year buying groceries seems to be people main objective.

I like your delivery. It's like you're speaking to us as though we were there with you.
Merry Christmas, PP!
I'm not getting Christmas either. My hubby and I are getting ourselves something. We will get our son something. That's it!
And kept it for weekend for nearly 10 years)
Do watch Robin of Simple Food Simple Life on the subject of not giving gifts...food for thought. 👵🏻
Merry Christmas 🎅 to you and the fur babies
I wish I hadn’t bought as much Christmas as I did, and I wish I had bought over the past year versus now. I typically dislike Christmas because of the commercialism…and realized this year that I don’t have to participate in the commercial aspects of it. I can reinvent it for myself and just let the chips fall where they may. I have routinely gotten gift request lists from in laws and other relatives! Unbelievable. And I keep telling myself that my gifts don’t have to “make their holiday wonderful.” That is up to them! My gift should just be a memento or a token that I thought of them. But now..,maybe I can get away with just calling it good and not spending for next Christmas!
spent 49 dollars on dog food and batteries for Christmas,
Just want to say, your hair looks fine, like the Cover Girl.
I see a lot of jolly elves shopping the thrift stores and having a fun time out. No rush, creativity, imagination. A big increase. And so friendly.
Thanks to Screwsom Newsom it all around bad times.😢
Forgiveness was my word for the year 2024 I choose a word and try to do my best at the meanings ❤ merry Christmas
That's the one big one FORGIVENESS ... forgive yourself
I mean forgiveness for others but forgiving yourself is important too.
@@PrepperPrincess I don't believe you can forgive others YOU can only forgive yourself . . . you have no control over others
@@PR.Hobbit By forgiving others, you shed any power/ control they have.
I’m sorry for the loss of your Mom. I did not know that before. I can understand why Sue is important to you. I also understand the Christmas present thing. The thing that that I appreciated and that made me smile was when you were describing the massage and you referred to the scapula/shoulder blades as the “wings”. I recall doing the same when I was younger talking to my family and everyone thought it was so funny and cute that I would call them
The wings.
Blessings
Isn't Jesus the reason for the season? I don't care what anyone thinks, I don't give presents. I don't care about the pressures of advertisements.
Merry CHRISTmas, prepper princess ❤
Good to see you back!❤😊
You are a kind and nurturing person. Wish everyone had a person like you in their lives. ♥️
First year we are giving only one gift to our adults kids and each other.
We only got one gift from Santa at Christmas.
I haven’t done any Christmas in years it has become to nothing like it is supposed to be but this year buying groceries seems to be people main objective.
