Among all the good stuff, what's with the dumping on Rosewater? That seems misdirected to me. I don't think he's the greedy type to sell out the future for some money now, and I doubt he made any decisions about the reserved list or what to say about it. I think he's all about the game, and Magic has to continue being an engaging game or it'll slide into oblivion.
Yeah, you're right about that @ArsenicDrone. Mark Rosewater is good people. Rudy doesn't pay close attention to that kind of thing; he just knows that Mark Rosewater, in his unofficial but officially sanctioned capacity as a public face of the company, has said in the past that WotC wasn't going to do a bunch of things that it has now been doing in the past couple years. Mark was never lying; it's just that he doesn't control the company. He's one of the people who makes the products. Big difference (sadly). So Rudy prolly just uses Mark Rosewater's name as an example of WotC's word becoming unreliable over time.
If you watch Rudy videos under a black light, the truth comes out.

I have a degree in Finance as well and he’s on point on opportunity cost and risk management. He explains it in term of collectible market. Not worth it to buy 4 packs of 30th anniversary when you can use that money to buy lower cost sets to flip or invest in long term. Plus, it’s much easier to liquidate cheap sets than expensive ones (i.e. holding 5x $20 bills vs 1x $100 bill and try to spend it at McDonald’s).
@@ClearanceCollector I enjoy the videos too, though more for the topic of insider stories. I feel like I've learned enough of the basics that I don't really benefit from the whiteboards as much these days (still not profitable lol). Risk management and trade psychology are absolutely key. And it's like he says, you have to minimize expenses, kill your debts, and have a stable footing before you can take advantage of investing.

As a fellow resident of Northeast Florida, it's batshit crazy what happened in the real estate market over here. My neighbor couldn't sell his house at $300k at the end of 2020, the same house in the beginning of 2022 sold for $550k with multiple bidders. All these people bought in to this completely overinflated market are going to feel it in their tendies really hard.

I took a leaf out of your book (although am not doing it based just on something you've said, it's something I was already doing, you just remind me every once in a while to be pacient), and every time Crypto gets cheaper, I just buy more of it to lower my cost basis with money that's specifically laying in wait to buy up cheap crypto the second it drops in price below my last buying price, if it doesn't, the money I've already put in since just after the last lowest point (in the last 2 years) will only go up.
I waited out the highs specifically to buy in a crash like this, As I sold the other side of the peak and did something else with my money, then when I had some cash spare again to buy in, I could see the market was still going a bit crazy, and it was a bad time to buy, then it all came tumbling down, and I was ready and it was just "BUY BUY BUY" as every one else was screaming "SELL SELL SELL" and I roughly called the bottom and dumped a ton of cash into it, and it's not gone below that low since a few months... but it doesn't matter if it goes lower, I'll just buy more for cheaper and lower my cost price even further lol. ;)

I've always said "Collect what you love, because you may be stuck with it for a very long time".
This was a perfect fundamental video for me; not dense but clear and perfectly concise, like a primer or a weekly recap. This is full of value on every topic that you touched upon. Even to the AoT mention.
Insurance, property taxes, repairs, appliances that have a life span of 8 to 12 years, bad tenants, and a housing bubble that could completely wipe out all the equity you build over the years my paying your mortgage down ... home ownership can be rough.
Don’t buy collectibles as an investment, you will almost always will be disappointed. I have many hobbies, and lots of money in them and they are investments into my enjoyment and not financial investments
Idk in yugioh a lot of high rarity stuff has appreciated over time, that said idk if it outpaces inflation

But on a serious note. He's right. Debt, can be fine, but it should absolutely be minimal. Leverage has killed more businesses and well... individuals, then I care to count. Know when money is cheap, and when it's not and get some REAL financial education. (Rudy here is a good start, and has a lot of good advice, as far as cash is concerned (from what I've heard) but there is more to it, learn it, love it, cash out to it.)
One question: 250k with 1500 monthly rent is anemic return on rental property. No? Also, I wish you did a consulting service for small fish. Getting good advice is so hard; so many idiots with certificates.

$50 a week is $786k. That's two or three houses with cash most places in the country
