  • The construction of Taipei's tap water began with the construction of the headwater point slow sand filtration plant in 1907, laying a good foundation for the tap water in the Taipei Metropolitan Area. Taipei's tap water has running for over 100 years. During the Japanese colonial period, the main headwater systems in Taipei were the Taipei Headwater Point Slow Sand Filtration Plant and the Caoshan Waterworks System, which supplied water to Taipei City Walls. Secondary headwaters included the Beitou Waterworks and the Shilin Waterworks, which supplied water to their respective areas.
