😢How strange life is: she's too white to be black, too black to be white, yet her pure night velvet is so very wanted by them! Why? And what a wicked plot too!😢
It's not only just a wicked plot. It's based on a true story. Queen is the grandma of the author. Some events may have been fictionalised but the overall story is true.
This is the true story of Alex Haley's grandmother, Queen. He remembered how traumatized she had been in her life. When she was old she still could Hear the sounds of dogs barking at her. Not the complete story is told in that miniseries. Her life was even worse. It's not a plot. It's someone's true life.
The strangest thing is.. she doesn't pass for white at all. I seriously doubt southerners back then couldn't tell the difference between a white person & biracial person.
I don’t think it is feasible to believe that Queen lived in a brothel but didn’t work as “one of the girls” Haley probably rewrote her historical events due to shame.😮

Not exactly correct cause she had zero issues "standing up for herself" which was obvious.....people would open doors of opportunity but then she would go against the rules etc and create a real shit storm and end up getting kicked out 👍🪻
The introduction of this video the narrator said that Alex Haley told this story "the way he wanted it told " so im interested in the truth aa it actually happened !
Me too! I think sometimes how I was mistreated, and talked about like a dog, by other Black people just because I was bi-racial. This was years before being bi-racial is acceptable like it is today, but the racism came the most from other Black kids and they learned that from their family. I can relate to Queen when she said she was Black, and nobody would help her. It took me a long time to learn not be afraid of other Black people because of the mistreatment. My mom was a full-blooded Native American who was raised on our reservation, so she was naive on a lot of things about life off the reservation. Especially when she had 4 kids who were half Black. She could only teach me so much about dealing with others when it comes to racism. We lived in a Texas city that was small-minded at the time when it comes to race relations. As much as a lot of the Black kids talked about me daily, I couldn’t make it through the day without hearing someone had ‘Indian’ in them. I hear it so much I automatically tune those claims out. I now realize that it was all jealousy from those people because I came from the direct blood of someone who is, and the rest of our tribe. All those experiences made me stronger, learn to sympathize with others, realize not all Black people are not the same, and just be proud of who I am. I agree people do want to put someone in a box when it comes to being bi-racial. Black people want you to be Black, and whatever other culture we are made of wants you to act just like them. Society wants to make you choose, and it gets hard just trying to be yourself….
@@calba24 I live in Cypress and I know where Texas City is. I was raised by my Mexican family and they would send me to my black grandmas house to try to encourage me to be around them because I obviously look more black than Spanish.
That’s why I call myself a mulatto. I know that people don’t use that word anymore, but I’m not a Caucasian. I’m not just an African-American. I’m not Hispanic. I’m not native American. I’m all of those things.
That's the biggest lie that was ever told. We all are not God's people. If that was so black people would have reparations in 2024 by now. So kill the garbage talk.
roots was a zillion time a better book for sure . I mean he did have the events and a repsectable understanding of the reality of those times. The dialogue and some of the events and personalities and such he had to speculate but it was an all time great book.

From part 1 to two , She has a tought life, till the end at that time , with white people ..likely so real even Christian have wrong faith still judged her and baby..let it be ..be gone and gone ! Good and heavy heart..hot and cold film thank you.
Isn’t she..everyone tried to tell her that she wouldn’t be accepted like that..and she bucked against it. No cap but so many people tried to warn her. And in those days, Queen wouldn’t have been the only child of the plantation who was fair skinned. I’m so mad at her for acting like telling him she wasn’t white like it was going to stop anything. White women get raped too. She act like she didn’t know that white men didn’t respect or look at black women as if they weren’t women. Especially, after her grandfather died from his assault trying to protect HER. His words, “ don’t tell them, don’t you ever tell them”! So she knew then. Passing for white make people even madder

I appreciate that!!. Don't be sorry your empathy warmed my heart
Those 2 old dragons piss me off.
Old miserable lesbians.
Halle berry did a great job and deserves an award for this movie. But i dont think she ever did. And its sad how because of slavery and systematic racism amd colorism it was alot of self hate and hate for one another when all hues are beautiful but the oppressors set it up that way wnd and to this very day black people wre etill divided. Now we do it to each other.
I agree. She definitely should have won an awards for this one definitely ‼️ and it’s so unfortunate that the oppressors set up this cruel system that just seems to get worse not better 😞
Dredges up the evil we are fighting.
Horrible times
That brown house looks like the house in the movie The Jerk,My uncle Richard ward played as Steve Martin Dad.
He was in quite a few movies. I loved The Jerk! It was crazy.😂
@bobbierobinson6269 That movie the Jerk makes me laugh every time I see it,I never saw my uncle Richard dance until I seen the Jerk, who plays Steve Martin Dad, I only seen my uncle probably only three times in my life,My uncle was very busy in Hollywood,I never heard Him ever say He couldn't find a job,He was in a hundred movies in Hollywood.
This is a really good Movie 🎬 🎞 🎥
Its sad cause she brought a lot of the trouble on herself....she just wouldnt be polite and create problems where there was none !! No wonder things got worse cause she was carrying a lot of bitterness !!
She was breaking the curse! It’s called standing up for yourself
YouARE so stupid
Not exactly correct cause she had zero issues "standing up for herself" which was obvious.....people would open doors of opportunity but then she would go against the rules etc and create a real shit storm and end up getting kicked out 👍🪻

Love Halle BerryGreat actor ❤❤❤
It must have been awfully living in that era.
Brilliant actors , enjoyed it so much . But also sad moments
Absolutely the best movie. Truth
The introduction of this video the narrator said that Alex Haley told this story "the way he wanted it told " so im interested in the truth aa it actually happened !
Same here. Although it’s phenomenal storytelling, this clearly isn’t truth.
I’m biracial. And I feel like everyone tries to put me in box. Just let me be me.
@@calba24tragic mulatto 😂😂😂 white people don’t give a fuck about u 😂😂😂
Biracial mixed animal n human? Two races on earth animal kingdom n human race.
That’s why I call myself a mulatto. I know that people don’t use that word anymore, but I’m not a Caucasian. I’m not just an African-American. I’m not Hispanic. I’m not native American. I’m all of those things.
16:09 that I got a right to a little bit of love hits hard 😢❤❤
38:56 times still didn’t change 😢
STILL HASN'T IN SOME PLACES
When it comes down to it we all got al little of it . And we are all God people. ❤
That's the biggest lie that was ever told. We all are not God's people. If that was so black people would have reparations in 2024 by now. So kill the garbage talk.
@@brownskin59 It is obvious you madam, are the one speaking garbage talk. Just how I see it. 🤑
We are not all God's children. Some are demon seeds.
roots was a zillion time a better book for sure . I mean he did have the events and a repsectable understanding of the reality of those times. The dialogue and some of the events and personalities and such he had to speculate but it was an all time great book.
Im confused. Which side is kunta kinta?
kunta was Alex Haley’s fathers side of the family if I’m not mistaken. And Queen is on his mother side of the family ❤️
@@PrettynBetween thanks for the reply
@@PrettynBetweenI heard it was the opposite
@@PrettynBetweennope kunta is on his mother's side of the family. Queen is on his father's side of the family.
They may have released this in america only after book i dont remember it being on tv.oh well watching now in 2024
I don't recall it being televised either. Perhaps I don't recall, but it's unlikely that I would have forgotten such a historical truth of a movie.
It came out in the 90s. It was on CBS..
The ole 1 drop blood rule smh . He’s never been a father & his mother never been a grandmother they miss her like you miss ur loss dog
my first time watching this movie. interesting. why do the two old ladies remind me of the Grinch movie
Book is excellent as well.
Losing the war, their men, their slaves, their plantations,... everything, just wasn't enough punishment. They just had to continue their wicked ways. 🤔
GOOD MOVIE 🍿 🎥 💗
mistreating them and telling them about a man called Jesus😂😂🤣🤣
Madess
I think about Amanda America Dixon. I believe the main reason he claimed her as his daughter is because he never married. There were no complications.

I wish the picture quality were a bit better than this😢
I used the gear icon and changed the quality to high quality

Good movie
From part 1 to two , She has a tought life, till the end at that time , with white people ..likely so real even Christian have wrong faith still judged her and baby..let it be ..be gone and gone ! Good and heavy heart..hot and cold film thank you.
Queen is so ungrateful to everyone who helps her and takes her in.
@@tericarroll9736 what do you know about that?
@@dolinaj1lol according to the movie , as much as you do.
I believe that queen was truly loved by her mother and father but in those days her father could not let the white masters know 😊😊😊

People are awfully hard on each other . Heard believe that God is in every one
What does that mean, the stove must be blacked?
up.
"Stove black" is a polish or paint that you put on wood burning stoves. It can be heated really hot and will look nice and help keep the stove from rusting.
Good movie 🍿
Did anyone realize that he said “slap” before he all slapped her
He said “slut” before he slapped her
I ask what year this was, never mind the baby She is Simon, tells me this picture is old, I am surprised I never seen this, being a caregiver, and never being home I never got to watch T.V.,so I still wonder what year this was, because then I would know exactly what I was doing, and how busy I was.
It came out in 1993 . I was one year old 😂😂 but yes! This movie was incredible 😁💕
