Now that I'm 50, I find it painful how the music industry has degenerated to such a degree that I'm still listening to singers and
many early 80s and 90s bands that are still 100x more interesting than anything I've heard in ages.
I remember when Brilliant Trees was released and we couldn’t wait to get a copy. 52 now wtf. 🙂

so enough good stuff..extreme nostalgia is unhealthy..great that our past produced much good but if you believe that we are in the same universe that produces artists then along with other crap that existed..same for now..you have enough taste and sense for being here to plug into fresh good stuff. .. I don't think David Sylvian ever followed a path. Rather he is floating on the currents towards the most beautiful ocean....
The path I think dear David follows is the one that pulls his attention in any given era in his life, then he immerses himself in it and it becomes a part of his creative DNA. He's an amazing artists.
David woke me from a slumber decades ago. His music held my hand through life.. As if he knew exactly where I was in life. He predicted my sadness, he saw my loneliness, He carried me through so many broken hearts, He showed me what lives in the soul of a woman. I have not been the same since. And he was not wrong. I'm so happy in my lonliness.. I dont hurt anymore. Thank you, David.

nice on a weary Friday night. only learned this week on here that he divorced Ingrid Chavez approx 20 years ago!? must listen to 2003 Blemish album in full! thought they had lived happily ever after in the USA! with their children! hence this positive upbeat type of song! but sadly no?!, he`s on his own since now?! sad!
David Sylvian's musical courage is nothing less than heroic, reminiscent of the late, great Scott Walker's. Batt & Engel!
Except Scott Walker is a much better singer. I'm sorry but Sylvian cannot touch Scott's singing from the 60s. He also tries to copy Scott, being reclusive and everything. Someone who worked at Virgin records said Scott is reclusive because that's how he is, and Sylvian is reclusive because he thinks it's fashionable.

To create a piece of art such as this which provokes such deep emotions is truly wonderful. I've been listening to this song for the past couple of months. My son is very taken with it too. He almost did turn away from it when he started to follow Amma as his spiritual guide. He wanted to become a full time devoted to her. But it was her that told him that it was his purpose to share his gift of music and not to give it up.

What they should say is that his voice is one of the greatest male singing voices ever and that his talents dwarf those of many other artists

Crikey, I love this. I was a big Japan fan but haven't really listened to any of his more esoteric stuff since. I stumbled across this and it's fabulous. Puts me in mind of some of Robert Plant's solo stuff.

David is very much into K-Pop these days. BTS , Rxo, SuperM and such. He also said one of his favourites were Blackpink...go figure.He's very eclectic. X-Japan had a big influence on him since the 80s, too.
