100% since you’ve been able to bet on the footy the game has gone down hill.
Exactly, sportsbet and betting in general has corrupted sports, there is corruption within the NRL and they can try and hide it all they like, but I wouldn’t be surprised if years down the track the game comes out in disrespute because of how the game get officiated to sway the result a certain way or make certain decision that are absolute head scratchers.

It’s such an easy fix but no one is talking about it… The bunker should only be a visual tool for the on field referee to decide for themselves if it is a try or not. Stop letting referees deflect the call to the bunker. Put the onus back on the ref

DWZ should have scored twice in the Warriors vs Knights game but the bunker took both tries away from him. Sportbet would be happy because a lot of people would have had him on their bets.

The Bunker is a lottery. Just get rid of it and let the onfield officials make the calls. The TV replays are used advertising purposes only.
And then there will be even more wrong calls and you and these guys will blow up about it. In a fast moving contact sport, there's always going to be contention. The bunker was introduced because people complained about officials making too many mistakes. The bunker has eliminated a lot of errors, and the fact that it's not perfect is no reason to go back to an even worse system LOL.

The NRL needs to employ a system they use in Rugby Union. The Referees in rugby union with communicate with the TMO(Video Referee) and watch the footage on a screen in the Ground and talk through the incident. When both the VR and on field ref agree on a decision they act. Why not try it that way
Same with soccer and the VAR, the referee will go over and re watch it via multiple angles on a screen with another squad of referees in another room discussing it, and the final decision comes down to the on field referee.
True in part however that means League becomes an arduous watch like Rugby. I say do away with it all together
In union if you get head on head contact (e.g Izaak Tago on Reece Walsh round 3) resulted in Walsh getting badly injured with head to head contact from Tago's tackle,Tago would have been sent off for failure to protect opposition by bending at the hips.On top of that he would've been suspended for 4 Weeks.It makes the defending team think about their tackling,it is perfect?No.But it's a step in the right direction of protecting players from unnecessary concussion, which as we know builds up over seasons causing some players to retire early.

No two people ever see the same incidents the same way 100% of the time. It doesn't matter what decision is made by an official or bunker, a big chunk of people will agree and a big chunk will disagree. Anyone who thinks that changing the system will change the number of complaints is kidding themselves.

Not only did he tackle him in the air he was also put in a dangerous position different decision for different teams. If that was a Penrith player it's a penalty try

I must be crazy. But I thought Sami’s was a try. I mean the ball bounces 6 feet into the air. That is A LOT of downward pressure. I don’t see separation between hand and ball (granted I’m only using my phone to watch the footage). To me that looks like a try.
I guess this proves the problem with the video ref, Anasta seems pretty certain it’s a no try, but I would have awarded it. So you can’t ever get to a point that everyone agrees on

@@danielkelly4487 I don’t think he has any control over the ball but I think he was still touching it when the ball hit the ground and that’s all he needs for a try to be awarded. To be fair, he also pointed to the ground after he scored it because he wanted it to go upstairs.

Maybe, just maybe, we should consider scrapping VMOs altogether and letting the ref and touch judges make the calls with no screen replays.
its funny cuz when i started to watch the nrl during the covid season in 2020 i guess (cuz of lack of the other competinion, im european, was always watching union) i saw how the bunker is working, how they are fixin the try/no try situaion, faul plays etc and i was like "soccer VAR system should be fuckin learning from the bunker" everything was so transparent, the replays were long enough, everyone could see everything. its pretty funny now, cuz they just destroyed our trust. at this moment we never know what bunker gonna say, how they gonna make a call. what fkin happened?
Disagree. The Sezar wasn't a hip drop. It was accidental. Negligent sure but didn't deserve a sin bin.
1- get ex players involved
2- give the ref the ability to review on the field (like in soccer VAR) to make the final call on contentious calls

With all this technology being used these days like a forensic scientist looking for micro details, you would think they would see a blatant forward pass, which usually ends in a try being scored and allowed. Yet they still persist in this replay after replay to see if a player had as much as a fingernail on the ball ???? ....What-tha !!!!!

Some of the reffing and bunker calls are so bad and baffling that you wonder at times if there is engineering to manufacture a result.
This is a simple game, it’s not rugby and still they can’t get it right!
💯 these result are manufactured to benefit the major sponsors of the game. They have to make inconsistent calls consistently to shadow the match fixing calls.

Don't need to replace the bunker, just improve some rules. Eg tackled in air in goal when U have caught the ball- commonsense-try.
Head injuries- max 2 in a tackle-1 of them will have to go for the legs, player being tackled not blindsided-less head hits.
When a player stands up to play the ball- no release when called-penalty. Walk off the mark- penalty.
Blow the pea out of the whistle for maybe a month, all will whinge, but big improvement for the game-less headknocks, les head contact, less wrestle, less cheating. End result-a big +.
Dead right Jimmy spent $800 getting to Newcastle for Warriors games... petrol tickets and overnight accommodation.... its a penalty any where else on the field ..but because its in the try zone another ruling applies ?? President now set ..just stand under the jumper in the touch zone and take out the legs ... 🤦🤦♂

The bunker needs to be limited to try referrals NOTHING else they've turned the game to 💩
Bring back the 2 Referee system one dominant ref which would be dependent on which team they are to call for in the first half and then swap on the 2nd half. Make the bunker a review Official only with it offering what they deem to judge the reviewed action, with then the dominant ref on field making the final call to whether they agree or not with the bunker and then a 3rd opinion coming from the 2nd ref to provide additional value to either calls made .
Explayers have loyalties to their former teams. How do get rid of that.
By getting the bunker to explain the decision, they just apply the laws of the game. The laws might need changing.

3 different reviewers make independent decisions
former player, current ref, former ref
and majority wins the decision at that moment.
After the weekend games the decisions are reviewed again and if the majority from the reviewers was wrong consistency over a month then those reviewers are replaced.
Over time the good bunker reviewers will make the correct decision 99% of the time.

Tackled in the air rule was originally brought in for safety, and only applied to the attacking team because they are rushing forward and not stationary.
These days the ones that are really dangerous(players running through without jumping and taking out the legs while looking at the ball) are not penalised because he was "going for the ball" and the ones that aren't very dangerous(stationary defender making contact with legs) are penalised, or complained about if not.
By the current rules it should have been a Penalty Try or a Sin Bin, but it wasn't dangerous. Because the attacker has momentum and control in the air 99% of the time.
Regarding the Sezer one it was because Sutton was the in the Bunker, it's predictable and consistent with the Dogs.
There is no doubt, if Sutton has a Dogs match, there will be at least one howler go against them. Won't say that for any other ref because it wouldn't be true. But with Sutton, the runs are on the board, the track record is there. Not a 50/50 - a howler. Every. Single. Time.
Ii may not have been dangerous in isolation but the whole point of penalizing is to deter foul play and unnecessary injury
How do you tackle someone in the Air causing him to drop the ball and not award a penalty try?

It's simple people. Boycott the games until the corruption stops. It's obvious they want certain teams to win on certain days, probably in correlation with sports betting agencies.

In my opinion the bunker shouldn't be allowed to watch the game,know what the score is or how much time is left. screens light up make your decision sceens go blank

I thought the rule for the last 100yrs was that an attacker jumping in the air is allowed to be tackled in the air as long as you aren't tunnelling the legs.
Only defenders are not allowed to be tackled in the air

Go back to the 5 meter rule, king wally kick ass in that era so the players today should have no problem. Then we will see how good Wally was.
Need to go back to 2010 where there's 2 ref's on the field and the bunker only there for the video try that's it
The bunker does not need human intervention! We have enough AI technology now to determine correct calls without bios.

Better to have former players than journalists on this panel! better and healthy debates. Corrupt refs are an issue especially biased ones. Like Gerard Sutton, Cummins, Klein. Bunker is good but depends who's controlling it! We need to ban gambling from sports thus the calls by refs and NRL will be more fair!
The refereeing decisions will never be fixed as any sport that has betting attached to it can only be a dishonest sport. I've been whinging to the NRL for years over this.

What is the knights defender supposed to do..? If he let's Zelazniak land, he lands with the ball 1st and tries. Is the knights player supposed to stand back and do nothing.....?

He can explain it all day long mate. The fact is there is inconsistency because the rules have too much grey area and are interpreted differently
@@thestoicwhinger It's an interpretive game though. Specifically talking about Sezer's tackle, Annesley explained why it was NOT a hip drop, but still a dangerous tackle AND he used Cleary as a previous example.

The Bogger is just as good as VAR in soccer. tons of money spent on it and the decisions are made by people so far detached from the game it is laughable...I have seen very few decisions be correct. Jimmy is a great addition to the show.

Just get rid of the bunker. It's absolutely useless. Having a committee to make a decision, will just prolong rulings. It takes the bunker, long enough as it is. The bunker was introduced to get rid of the absolute clangers & howlers of decisions. But week in, week out. Game by game, it consistently gets things wrong.
And what would improve the standard of poor refereeing. Is for them to be able to be criticised. Everyone else in the game gets publicly criticised if their form is poor. Why should the refs get a free pass?
Once again pure sense (either p.try or sin bin) is given after the fact. Warriors were robbed ... AGAIN!!!
