- Freighter Water Displacement (Tsunami). This video shows how the freighter changes the water level from the water displacement. Watch the water level where I am standing as the freighters weight and size change the water level. Once the rear of the ship passes you'll see a Tsunami of water come back and crash into the shoreline. This video was shot on Seaway Island beach as a Freighter was moving through the St. Clair River and traveling to Lake St. Clair in the Great Lakes.
That is actually really cool! I lived in Troy for years and used to boat on the St Clair river.. never realized how much water moved like this.
It is a very cool experience. Right now the water levels are way above average. That beach area was under water this year.
Freighter used to come in Nipigon Bay on the top of Superior and from 5 miles out it would produce about 10 or 12 3ft waves, we used to love it as kids
That looked like a tsunami!!!
Same thing happens on the Ohio River, and probably the rest, when a tow goes up or down.....
Wow
Do 🤡 not realize, you film landscape scenes in landscape mode?
Where exactly is this?
We were on a small Island called Seaway Island. It is on the Canadian side. I believe Harsens Island is next to it. We didn't visit there in 2019 because the water level has taken away the shoreline.

Is the the middle channel?
@@johnmarkel8160 this would be the South side of Seaway Island facing the South Channel.
That's not a Tsunami
Not saying it is an actual tsunami. If someone was standing in the water and saw the water level drop quickly. They might think it was Tsunami happening. The experience is very cool.
