I totally agree with the comments about driving the i3s. After being fed up with all the newer BMW I've driven lately (mainly 1 and 3 series), I got this for the day while my E92 was in for service. I was shocked how good it felt driving it a little harder. It felt more like a BMW around the corners as the new M135ix did. Interior is a little challenging to look at though...
Excellent video. I can't tell it is lowered at all....how much 1/4 inch? I would be interested in a spring kit that lowers the car 3/4". Any chance of fender mods so that wider wheels so that regular conventional tires could be fitted. It's a pain to find tires for this car since 2 companies make them. 155/70-19" are just too narrow for the front tires. 175/60 fronts and 205/60 rears would be great in an 18 inch wheel. Thanks again.
Believe these lowered around 20mm, the gap was big before. This is about all you can do on stock damper. You could cut the fenders to run wider tyres, but as is you cannot as the metal under the add on arch is still there.
I have a 2019 i3S and trust me, the last thing you want to be doing to this car is lowering it. The stock ride is harsh enough without dropping it. There is also zero wallow on the 2019 model. Those wheel look better than the stock black ones but nowhere near as tidy as the stock black/aluminium ones for me. Yes, they are fast though. 😊
7:05 "... got a high center of gravity"... it's most likely that nothing BMW makes had a lower center of gravity due to the 600 pound battery pack being under the car, and the passenger module is carbon fiber reinforced polymer... extremely light.
Would be so nice to have an easy way to run bigger rims and tires on the i3. The compound wears so quick, because it needs to be soft to break in a reasonable distance with so little tire touching the road. Also everything is extra expensive, because it is not a standard size ...
Looks sick with those wheels 🔥 but for production I would personally like to see them about 6,5" wide rear and 6" front to go flush with the wheel arches! 👌 And get some 205 or 215 rear tires and 195 in front. It is possible!
Tyre sizes there’s no options! Only ones available are the BMW spec ones. It’s a 175+195 20” 😂 Width/offset wise, the i3 S arches are just stuck on, they add no more clearance inside the arch, so you cannot get them flush. Same problem we had with the GP3.
@@EvolveAutomotive Ya I guess if you want to lower the car more it will rub on the fender. But I have seen some I3s on 7" wide I8 wheels that didn't rub but They were only about 2-3cm lowered. And some of the inner arches were cut out to fit too. 😉
i did aprox like u said in front 195 50 20 (6) rear 205 50 20 with original bmw i got two more rear 6 ....doesn't exist 6,5 original ..so in the back the maximum size is 205.I keep the original because i didn't like to looks like a gipsy. In this way u get maximum confort first , and more stability.
What stunningly beautiful wheels. I have the standard i3 2021 model and would be interested in these wheels when they become available. My only concern is that I see a lot of corroded two piece/split rim wheels on cars? Is this a weakness or poor maintenance? Thank you for the video.
Depends if they have raw/exposed elements to them. By nature of construction they will generally need more up keep than a single piece wheel. They often come in fancier less durable finishes also which contributes. Drop us an email on sales@evolveautomotive.com and we can discuss further.
Yes, wheels that are heavier or stick out further/have larger contact patch can all negatively effect range. Around town it wouldn’t be a huge difference, but motorway commuting you’ll start to see the difference.
Nice to see the i3 getting some attention. Always been reaaaallly curious about the possibility of going to smaller normal wheel sizing and a slight widebody kit to accommodate the wheel width. Especially interested in the idea that you can simply replace all quarter panels because they are all just bolted on, yah?
@@EvolveAutomotive Couldnt agree more, both on the aesthetic and performance front. Ive heard those motors are drastically undertuned and that 300whp is well within its capabilities. Combine that with some wider 18s and sticky rubber and it would suprise a lot of people at any grassroots autocross event.
Love this car it’s a one of a kind. What else has a carbon fibre tub and roof, carbon fibre reinforced plastic body panels, aluminium chassis 20” wheels ? Apart from a McLaren. Lol
Just finishing long term evaluation of them now, hope to have them available in the next month or so. Everything production related is taking longer at the moment. They’re applicable for all i3 models, and all will lower to roughly the same level.
I remember back when the first video about i3S mods came about and I remember being one of those who said to definitely get one and start that project. It’s so crazy how the time for it came already and I’m watching it progress now. Loved the video! The only question I have now is, after viper and lycan, what’s the name you’re giving to the i3S? 🧐
Imo the car could be another 15-20 mil lower, might affect ride quality a little tho, also I wish you would’ve done a little wider rims so it could have a little better fitment and not so balloony tires
I personally agree with everything you said. However. Springs that were that much lower would ride significantly worse. The arches are stuck on to the original body and provide no extra clearance. And the car is a family town car so the extra balloon will help prevent kerbing them.
They are stunning wheels. Unfortunately looks like the next set of performance cars will be electric. As long as I’m allowed to drive my M3. I’ll survive.
"be careful it's very fast" "DO you know who i am" HAHAHAH Love it. !!!
🤣
Had one on loan ... 0-30 mph beats many performance cars ... much fun and superbly made .. one pedal driving too
Genuinely surprised at just how quick!
One pedal driving has spoiled me. After six years I get into our ICE for its infrequent trips and forget that I have to use the brake.
"My wife doesn't complain too much !" Love it!
This is the best car BMW ever build it’s absolutely fantastic!
I own allot of BMW and my wife has this and friking love it !!
Its a really good and fun city car.
Also check LION Smart in Munich DE. They offer 100 kwh battery upgrade. 700 km range.
This was excellent! Can't wait to see the full picture.
I love what you have done to the i3S. I have a ‘standard’ i3S, so I can’t wait to see the final version.
Nice to see the family hauler get some love too. I got some similar wheels like that on my e64. Great vid guys.
Keep it coming. You have just bumped the i3 significantly up my wish list.
Take one out for a test drive (in sport mode) you will be hooked.
Wife not complaining a lot. Indeed. Times are good then. Love channel. I’m not into tuning but still like the channel.
Thats great to hear.

Interior is definitely love or hate, for us it’s nice to be in something totally different yet still very BMW.
@@EvolveAutomotive Yeah it's not bad. It's just not so BMW like with that airy space and feel...

I’m REALLY excited for this build!! Super impressed with your vision of the i3 💪

Yes I went for the aluminium/black didn’t like the all black.
I’ve done mine, much better handling, goes like a pocket rocket.
🚀
Really like that render.
Will you be offering a remap with 202hp and 280 nm ? I know its only 18 hp and 30 nm extra but its worth having. Many websites offer it.
Awesome, looking forward to what's coming next for the i3s!
7:05 "... got a high center of gravity"... it's most likely that nothing BMW makes had a lower center of gravity due to the 600 pound battery pack being under the car, and the passenger module is carbon fiber reinforced polymer... extremely light.
So much better than with the stock black wheels 👍
But isn't the i3S already low and has a stiffer suspension, 20 inch rims from the factory? So, he lowered it even more and made it stiffer?
Is the ride as choppy as standard springs? When will they be available?
Would be so nice to have an easy way to run bigger rims and tires on the i3. The compound wears so quick, because it needs to be soft to break in a reasonable distance with so little tire touching the road. Also everything is extra expensive, because it is not a standard size ...
Put some matte black wrap inside the kidneys, looks a lot better. Did it on mine. It really is a fine car for city driving, so small and agile.
Also, the aluminium list on the trunk is just glued on, so it's easy to remove.

Looks awesome dude! 👌
Could you tell me what the stock i3s wheel weight??? I can't find any info about it on the internet.
Car does sit abit lower however would widening the new wheels a bit compromise the range or aerodynamics?
Yes, wheels that are heavier or stick out further/have larger contact patch can all negatively effect range.
Around town it wouldn’t be a huge difference, but motorway commuting you’ll start to see the difference.
Did you change the shocks/struts? I'm thinking about Bilstein B4.
We are working with Bilstein to make our own version. We have the prototype on our car and they are really good.
@@EvolveAutomotive great to hear! I really wanted something nicer than the B4.. hoping it's still nice and comfy :)
The best thing about this car is it’s sound...
It’s just brutal!
That sound gets me every time!
Finally the i3 S looks sick mate!!!💯🔥🔥🔥
Looking forward for more mods on the i3S 😍😍
Love the wheels 👌 much better look , modifications are great I can't leave my car alone 👍
It’s an addiction!
can you do a render in light blue pls cause i think it look quick nice with rim and darker blue pinstripes
have you tried bmw i4 or i8 wheels?
Any update on the body kit?
We have an i3s from Park Lane, great car, we have ReX, watching with interest! :D
Please make a video when you get the body kit made!

Did u make the suspension for sale

What size spacers did you use?
They’re not spacers, they’re custom made wheels.
Great choice of wheels, stance compliments it perfectly 👌🏼

Disappointing we're still beholden to Bridgestone. What happens if they don't feel they're making enough money to continue producing them?
I believe they have contractual agreements when a car is supplied on a tyre to produce it for so many years.
For summer tyres we are stuck. There are a couple of other makers of winter tyres which are probably better for 9 months of the year here in the UK.
