Did you just ask for help, or was the message simply incomplete? 2 letters would have to account for repetition. Was it just "R", or did you repeat "R" twice, thinking the first "R" wasn't seen? 3-letter words is really the bare minimum to get a proper message across. It's unfortunate that this is the case, but it's probably the best way.

When I worked as a bank teller we were instructed to use coded messages if we were ever being robbed. Alarm companies call to verify alarm trips, and of course, you can't say anything about robbers - just make something up.
My mom had a job in the Sydney Martin Place that was attacked. Luckily she wasn’t working that horrible day when the attacks happened but her friend was, and she told us that she has to hide upstairs in a room as she heard gunshots and screams below. My mom had a job in the Sydney Martin Place that was attacked. Luckily she wasn’t working that horrible day when the attacks happened but her friend was, and she told us that she has to hide upstairs in a room as she heard gunshots and screams below. This was a horrible time but I’m just glad that my mom didn’t go to work that day and is safe. She quit her job there which is also reassuring.
