Replace your intake manifold. I know it sounds odd but theres a check valve in there that broke off...which runs inline with your diaphragm on your valve cover which caused your pcv on the valve cover to go bad. I just fixed my 2015 Cruze with the same issue.
Justin Peterson there’s a bypass kit to replace the one in the intake manifold also there is an aftermarket intake manifold that has a plastic piece that holds that internal Pcv in place
Yea its an orange flat that brokes inside the intake manifold that goes with the pcv diafragm and always you change pcv you have to check that piece too
You can replace the front crankshaft seal from the front passenger tire well. Just need to put the motor on a jack and remove the motor mount, splash guard, belt etc to get to it. Has to be popped out and a new in pressed in
I have the same squeak and it is driving me crazy. Took my 2014 1.4 Liter LT to a mechanic who charged me $720 to replace the timing belt and the water pump (they replaced the water pump without asking me...so that was a fun financial surprise) and didn’t fix the noise. Took the car to the dealer to diagnose the problem (which they charged me $80 for the inspection). The dealer gave me a laundry list of new fixes that the car needs that they quoted at $1,550 (not all related to the squeak). Two of the dealers recommendations were to replace the air intake and the valve cover. The dealer quoted these two repairs around $800+. I decided to buy the air intake ($162) and the valve cover ($60) on Amazon and replace them myself. Although I saved a lot of money doing the work myself, it didn’t fix the squeak. The only other ideas I have left to fix the issue are the crank shaft seal or the after market bypass kit. I have already put $1,000 into this problem and nothing is working. Because the engine needs to be unmount, the crank shaft seal repair looks like it is beyond my mechanical abilities. The after market bypass kit seems like extreme measures. The warranty on my car is 5 years or 100,000 miles. My car only has 67,000 miles but the warranty expired 8 months ago. I really liked my Cruz until this issue occurred. I would have bought another Cruz but this manufacturing defect has left a bad taste. I definitely will not look to Chevy for future cars.
I’m right there with you. Had zero experience purchasing cars and this has been a reoccurring issue. The bypass seems like a lot of work and beyond my abilities, but it appears there’s been a lot of success there so I’m going to find a mechanically inclined friend to help me out. My dads already replaced the cover and O2 sensors not even a year ago and here we are again. Dealer wants to spend $513 to replace that cover, clean it, cost of part, labor, and diagnostic. I’d rather spend the money on a solution that could be more long term. If my fix is successful I’ll definitely be back here to discuss!
Update - finally figured out the source of the squeak! Took it to a mechanic that used a stethoscope and fed it into the engine. The squeak appeared to be coming from the cam shaft seal. They replaced the cam shaft seal (another $230) and the squeak disappeared. A good mechanic will save you money. I wish I would have known about this guy sooner, it would have saved me $1,000 of repairs I didn’t need. Anyway, glad to have the car running smoothly again.
If the front crank seal needs to be replaced (and often just fixing the PCV valves will stop the noise), then you can do this without pulling the motor. Its not that difficult. Simply put a jack under the sump and remove the engine mount (on the left as you look at the engine). Remove the serpentine belt and you can then unbolt the crank pulley and prise out the offending seal. Should take about an hour.
Takes a bit more than an hour (I'd say 2-3 for the average Joe), but this is TRUE, you do not need to pull the motor! Pull as little off as possible! •Air Box •Passenger Side Engine Mount •Serpentine Belt •Crank Pulley •Crank Seal Then reassemble. Fairly easy to do!
He also forgot to mention the bolts u take out from the engine mount have to be replaced with NEW bolts lol and they ain't easy to get hold of .. or reuse the old bolts and risk your engine falling out while driving at 100mph 😂😂
There is nothing wrong with the crank shaft seal. Replace the intake manifold which is also what caused your valve cover to go bad. And by the way the PCV valve is not in the valve cover that round thing that goes bad is the " Vacuum Regulator Diaphragm" .
I replaced the valve cover and PCV line from the intake to the Turbo inlet ... noise fixed and feels like it has its power back. Didn't see where mine had any check valve in the intake or why it would need the intake replaced.
I like the comments that advise to replace this, that, and what ever. I've got a 2012 and it now has 90 psi compression on the first cylinder with 160, 123, and 175 on the others. I had the head off before checking psi and the walls looked great, the pistons were not cracked and so on (i was loosing oil and coolant with oil in.......well EVERYTHING, you know what I mean) SO I replaced with a new head, bolts, intake man, turbo (exhaust had a crack, you know the one), valve/pcv cover, ignition coil, timing cover (broke valve cover bolt hole, you know the one), new gaskets, vacuum hoses, that tube that runs from the back intake man to the turbo (you know the one), spark plug, water hose plastic thing (you know the one). Look down to it.You are better to get it running without lights on the dash, smoke from the tailpipe, and surging from the engine. Take it to a gm lot, find a good used (doesn't matter as long as gm doesn't own it) and leave it there for them to deal with.
I had the same problem. Positive crank case pressure. Had seal replace and 4 months later. Turbo blew there's 6 different things that are going to happen after you replace. Pcv both vacuum assist valve will go oil pain seal and check your spark plugs will be lose or you'll have blow by.
Seems like the breather system is not working when the intake is under vacuum. There are two more check valves one on the intake boot just before the turbo inlet and one in the intake manifold. Failure in one of these tends the break the membrane in the valve cover which you replaced by causing excessive vacuum or boost pressure in the crankcase. Good luck.
One or both PCV valve's are bad now, you've replaced the regulator with the valve cover now check that the pcv system is in good shape.your crank case is loading up.
we've got a sound like this that recently started on our chevy colorado, but it only happens when we're going down the road at highway speed, but it only happens randomly for short periods, so i'm at a loss as to how to even troubleshoot it since we haven't been able to figure out a way to *make* it happen predictably. about all we know so far, is that when it *does* happen, it's usually somewhere around 60 to 70 mph, and usually under a bit of load, like when going up a slight/gradual hill or lightly accelerating. but since we can't get it to happen twice in a row when repeating the same steps, it's hard to know for sure that isn't just a coincidence. Anyway, this was a pretty cool video. never saw a seal squeal because the dipstick was inserted before. lol

You may have found the noise bro, but you need to fix what's causing the vacuum in the sump🥴....if not, the noise will be back in no time🤣 Most likely the internal pcv valve inside your intake manifold is missing bro👍 Replacing the valve cover when the vacuum regulator on top fails is only 1/2 way to fixing your problem👌 The pcv in the intake is most likely long gone (may have caused your old v.cover issue) or your new valve cover vac.regulator is stuck wide open somehow. Block the pcv ports in the intake manifold, and add an external pcv set-up....then hope the new valve cover vac. regulator (if not already stuck open) doesn't fail again🤣👍🇦🇺
Judging by all the videos regarding anything to do with the cruze, you might as well drive it (if it will run) to your local dump, park it next to the big pile of scrap metal and just walk away lol

It doesn't stop my Cruze from being driven, it is my sisters car. I wouldnt own this car! No offense meant, but it is just SO full of plastic in the engine , and that tiny engine with that big heavy car, and that tiny turbo engine, it is just waiting to have to have that turbo replaced. I dont see it lasting long. She already had a huge engine repair done, in the first 4-6 months of owning it, it was some small metal part way down deep in the middle of the engine! Took 4 days to fix! THAT says to me, it is junk. She bought a long extended warranty and is using it now for this noise. But so far they cant 'repeat the problem'....so it isnt fixed yet. But they guy shows you how to fix it in this video.
It is a vacuum leak. I have the 2014 1.4L Chevy Sonic with the same problem. Runs rough at idle and has the same squeaking sound. Pull the oil dipstick and the sound should stop.(The car will likely run very rough.) Then you will know it is a vacuum leak for sure. The problem is very likely the Valve cover that has the PVC valve built into it or the crankshaft seal. Once it starts getting some milage on it starts letting vacuum in. You may have found the noise bro, but you need to fix what's causing the vacuum in the sump🥴....if not, the noise will be back in no time🤣
Most likely the internal pcv valve inside your intake manifold is missing bro👍
Replacing the valve cover when the vacuum regulator on top fails is only 1/2 way to fixing your problem👌
The pcv in the intake is most likely long gone (may have caused your old v.cover issue) or your new valve cover vac.regulator is stuck wide open somehow.
Block the pcv ports in the intake manifold, and add an external pcv set-up....then hope the new valve cover vac. regulator (if not already stuck open) doesn't fail again🤣👍🇦🇺
many places have them now...$55
Judging by all the videos regarding anything to do with the cruze, you might as well drive it (if it will run) to your local dump, park it next to the big pile of scrap metal and just walk away lol
if this seal is bad will it throw a fuel injector error code?
I have a wicked crankcase vacuum as well but I have no squeel. Do you think this is the same issue? I had the failed pcv about a year ago and fixed that.
Hi broo i have got a same problem no squeel but there is a vacuum leak.If u find a solution for it just let me knw
@@thinkwise8715 did you find anything?
Mine is doing this!
The best solution is replacing the car
Damn. Now i get to pull a motor. Kinda what i thought. Ahhhhhh.
Tighten your spark plugs! Problem solved
shit i cant believe it ,thats whats wrong with my wifes cruz ,,did the exact same thing ,it wasnt the water pump i replaced ,its this,,did it just happen like instantly when the squeel started for u
What fixed this issue? I have the exact problem and can't tell from the comments what I need to replace.
this was my brother in law's car they fixed it at the dealership they replaced the crankshaft seal under warranty they know they have a problem with these cars but they wont do a recall on it i hope this helps
Lol i am on 3rd valve cover 2nd intake manifold because of the pcv line across the top of motor there is a small black hose with a green line on bottom of intake manifold mine was cracked cut it back cracked again and oil was there i believe it might whistle but i am coming to a loss trying figure this car out
One of the 3 pcv valves is bad ..most likely the one on the under side of intake ...replace intake manifold..or buy a bypass kit ..
👌
Ugh, anyone have a ball park idea on the cost to get it fixed with out warrenty?
Benjamin Lowe seal $12. $140 with labour
@@bwelsh321 at dealer? I have a 2014 Cruze 97K miles. Warranty cover this?

That’s a lie you can order it from Nappa Auto parts or Autozone just bought mines from Nappa Auto parts for 60$ in sale!!!
Calm yourself. Damn
If someone can send me the bad valve covers I could try to come up with a modification to it that we can do to finally address this issue.
Its tirbo
Advance auto parts got it for $75
Less than $30 on ebay..
Your just going to keep blowing oil and valve covers if that check valve is gone, get the fix kit at cruzekits.com
i assume that is the turbo engine...right? Mine is doing it exactly. IF it is the turbo, but i have the warranty,so let Chevy fix it for free!
Marc B. Mine just started today chevy cruze 1.4 turbo 2015. If anyone can help or point me to what needs to get fixed that be great. Does this issue stop any of you from driving?
Pull the motor out...Why not just pull the dipstick out until it stops squealing and drive it like that...
Need a external breather mini air filter i heard oil will spray out if you do that
I'm doing that I have cable tie on mine let the air out off dip stick 😅
So I'm fucked great!
I've seen multiple videos on this piece of crap design. Everyone that has one has to replace the valve cover. Plus they have other problems.
Wrong. I bought mine, 2016 1.4l turbo, at oreillys Dorman part #.. pick ur poison..
These are such crap motors.
U could have got to the point bro!! Jeeez… all that time for nothing!! Thanks for nothing !!
