The Best Of Cobalt - Battlebots Season 9 - 2019 - [009]
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 май 2020
- This is a small "best of" compilation I've put together for Battlebots competitor Cobalt, from Team Carbide. Champions of Robot Wars Series 9 and This Is Fighting Robots Season 1.
The song used in this compilation is Replica by JNUARY.
Over the course of this season, Cobalt faced off against Bombshell, DUCK, End Game, Minotaur, and SubZero.
If you have any suggestions for future videos, please leave a comment. I do read all of your comments even if I don't get round to replying, and they are all appreciated.
Please do share these videos, and get the word of Battlebots around. The more people who know about Battlebots, the bigger the fanbase, and the more likely we are to get new, bigger, better series. Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoy!

Revisiting this after Team Carbide’s retirement announcement, incredibly sad news but I’m so excited to see how Matt Maxham handles the duty of Cobalt!
My face when Ghost Raptor
@@TweezersUnlimited My Raptor when Face Ghost
@@TweezersUnlimited ikr
from what I've heard matt has actually retired and cobalt is going to be captained by dave again next year
From the battlebots wiki Dave and Sam are reunited with cobalt and have joined robotic death company ( the team that built gigabyte and currently owns cobalt
They redid the floor so they won't get stuck on it anymore. Cobalt is going to be a real threat in 2021.
@@bldjln3158 cobalt isn't even in the 2020 season. He's probably referring to when cobalt returns in the future which we don't know if there will be one in 2021
Idk if this comment came before or after the most recent season commenced, but I just wanna note that the floor problems were by no means eliminated this season. A bit better, but certainly still an issue
@@sammclain6040 It was done on purpose. The floor isn't 100% flat (but not twisted and warped like last year) because battlebots doesn't want the bots with the lower ground clearance to win fights. So some panels might be a millimeter higher, idk, but it's not totally flat among panals
@@jonathanf2392 wait really? Previous seasons had purposefully non flat floors? I didn’t know that. I just thought they were cheap and not replacing the floors
@@sammclain6040 no, no, I was talking about this season. Yes they did replace the floors for this season, it cost over a million dollars (yikes) to install them. What I was saying is that you pointed out that this season, bots were STILL having floor problems TODAY, and it's because the panels aren't 100% aligned, just millimeters apart. Like I said it was done on purpose to not play the ground clearance game. The floor prior to this season was so twisted and warped because it was so old, not just from 2015 but from the comedy central days, not even that, BEFORE comedy central days, the first ever events of battlebots in long beach CA, untelevised events in 96 or 94 (I believe, idk).
Sam and Dave make the best spinners in the world. They need to bring carbide into the battle box. The destruction it would cause
I think they did bring Carbide into the box one year.... it was just pained blue and white, with a red disk. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that was in 2016.
@@krismadymatt7751 I think you are thinking of the other version of Cobalt. I may be wrong though.
Definetly don't make the best spinners
@@Dvonbringsdaknowledge
Yeah. That version of Cobalt. It’s basically Carbide with a color change & an Asymmetrical blade. Correct me if I’m wrong...
@@Dvonbringsdaknowledge no its carbide I was watching him fight and saw the same disk and it's the same just repainted
No bot...does that to Duck, ever. I seriously think Cobalt has potential once it lowers its wedge a bit
The height is not necessarily the problem, the added front wedge just needs to be a bit more durable.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma ye
It’s proven it’s power now against ghosts raptor who’s coming home it pieces
The high up mounting of the weapon is why it get such good engagement
A shame they couldn't make this season due to COVID, love this bot and hope that the next time we see it, it has a little more durable design for feeding other bots up into that awesome weapon
I like the shift between people being worried about COVID-19, and then people treating it likes nothing but a nuisance from china
Give it a shrimech and this is a possible champion
True
And an integrated wedge. Then you have your champ. I'm so, so sad it will not compete in Battlebots 2020 ;-(
Ave you got a scrimech
@@whizkidbricks9740 course they don’t!
They actually had a scrimech when they entered in China, that had an axe blade on it for show. I assume that they didn't have it for BattleBots because of putting more weight into the weapon or something since they figured the disc would be able to right the robot by itself most of the time.
I think my pulse lined up with this video at some point, I was completely mesmerized. You're my gold standard for editing, Blooper, I strive to be as good as you.
This is my all-time favorite bot see fight, the battlebox did this poor guy dirty
Reminds me what we've missed this season... I really hope to see least a few of Cobalt, Minotaur, a new Paul V robot, Orion, a new Bronco, Spectre, the Aussie spinner etc.
This gives me funny feelings all over. I bloody love this robot!
This is an epic compilation ngl. Great editing
Cobalt: originally Carbide, now Tungsten.
You are the best at these edits!
I still can't believe that wedge was barely held on there, it's almost as critical to the thing functioning as the dam drive train, let alone the main weapon.
still an absolute monster of a bot with a whole lot going for it, just one of those weird design decisions that doesn't make a whole lotta sense from an outside perspective...maybe it has to do with how the shell disperses impacts? ...or maybe just straight up "because it was built that way" as in it's less a design decision and more of a side effect of construction methods, I dunno.
From the same team that gave us Carbide, the undisputed god of horizontal spinners. We now have Cobalt a vertical spinner that may someday be Carbide's equal.
Awesome score on this
I was so bummed that Cobalt didn't make the top 16
They made the top 8 this year though
EndGame: YEEEET!!!!!!!
Did it take anybody else insanely long to realizes these are the same guys who created Carbide from Robot Wars?
Oh my gosh wow what a wonderful robot brilliant
The rework did pretty well tbh
My fav. They only need a front wedge that doesn't get broken (or the weapon becomes useless) and a srimech.
Cobalt vs tombstone would have been good
BlooperSphoof, this video inspired me so much that I made a Best of Death Roll based off of the Best of Cobalt (Best of Death Roll is not on RUclips)
I really hope that the team of Dave and Sam will make a return for the next season of Battlebots.
BOMBSHELL JUST TOOK UP..........b LIKE A BOMBSHELL
i guess he just cant think of any words for that matter
Well, Cobalt will be making a return to Battlebots this year, however both Sam and Dave will not be able to participate. Therefore, their robot will be in the hands of the Robotics Death Company (the team behind Gigabyte.)
Goodness me! What enormously heavy hits!
[No, that 'h' is not a typo. I often wish that it were, though.]
I never knew these were on BB only known them on robot wars
1:29
Cobalt the carbide 2.0
What’s the name of the song here?
Replica by JNUARY, for future reference the songs are always listed in my descriptions
I wonder what would happen if they brought Carbide into the box
They wanted to buy they weren't allowed to bring that design again.
@@jacobunofficial1146 Why not? Too similar to Tombstone, I’m guessing?
it lacks a self-right
really you put a weapon on the top that's not going to hit anything is that right guys
I mean... It did hit stuff though, didn't it? 😂
@@bloopersphoof2874 they should put the weapon on the frount not on the top
@@jasontheguywhocandostuff9928 but I wanna see stuff yeet
So that it probably can't selfright and is just another common front-vert spinner?
What I never understood is why if a bot gets stuck on the floor or the bots get wedged together. Why not have a timeout and reset the fight. It happens in other robot battles around the world
