I’m not going to lie I feel like these Japanese anime live action movies are very under appreciated. Yes the acting in them isn’t the best and the production in them isn’t all that great but at the same time they still put in so much effort in them. Why are you all attacking this movie for not being like the anime? If you don’t like it, and feel it doesn’t capture Death Note well, that’s fine, but this movie technically came out BEFORE the anime. I’m so sick of the anime being seen as the only good version of this story. The manga it originated as was - at least in my opinion - just as brilliant as the anime, and even handled certain elements better than it. Similarly this version, while far from perfect, tries to tell the story the best way it can while still keeping a unique spin, even if it’s low budget campy and old. Am I saying you should love this movie? No, but I do ask you to stop using the anime as Death Note the original, because it’s not. It’s an adaptation of a fantastic manga that doesn’t deserve to be swept under the rug just because the anime was good
