    You broke my heart - all the colors you said not to wear are my favorites. I am a warm grey and I can't imagine wearing cool colors. I've always loved my autumn palette. I can see maybe not as bold, but especially Mustard was the very best on me.

      Sorry! Yes it is sad but there are still a lot of warm-ish colors that will work, but those very warm colors like mustard yellow are extremely hard for anyone except for redheads

    Some of us have "warm" gray hair since our fully warm undertones don't change. We can still wear our warm colors as we gray.

      Thanks Mary! Definitely true that there are “ warm greys” out there. In the system I use (Color Alliance) we take skin, hair and eye color into consideration in the analysis. So which season would really depend on the combination of those hues (as well as the warm/ cool draping). And While it’s true that one’s skin tone can remain warm- even when the hair has turned grey- it could look a little off to continue wearing the same warm colors that one did in the past (before going grey). You can definitely wear colors that are on the warm side of the cool/ warm divide but you’ll likely need to add some elements of coolness to harmonize with your cooler hair color (grey). For example, wear warm greys, and taupe or add some silver jewelry in addition to your gold. Think soft and smoky colors. There is a section devoted to best colors for “warm greys” in this guide: rb.gy/qjrr2

      @@colorfulstylebydana I know people with "strawberry" hair that if you look closely is actually white or gray. With strong red/gold (strong enough that it looks red to the eye) they definitely are warm in the spectrum not light or clear (if spring is their season and definitely true for my friend Christine who is 75 with this coloring.) My friend Joan would indeed be in a neutral /warm palette as I have her as a soft Autumn instead of warm or deep, but her "salt and pepper" hair has obvious red/gold again. She is definitely autumn though not summer or winter. I have copper blonde hair and my grays are coming in strawberry white like Christine's. The CMB group out of London (they do tonal) did a meme a few years ago that would have really sent everyone in a tizzy because the lady went from dark hair, light skin, vivid eyes (clear) when young and aged into "strawberry gray" hair and is now a warm. Donald Trump aged in the same way. While we are the exception not the rule there are definitely a few of us who age warm or stay warm older. Maureen O'Hara was another one. Her hair aged from auburn to strawberry gray and she went from warm autumn to spring.

      @@MaryYoungblood-xy8vg Hi Mary! Sorry for not responding sooner! I agree- there are warmer greys out there, who can certainly handle warmer colors than my mom. I would say this video is more geared for salt-and-pepper hair which is much cooler than the warm greys (who still retain some warmth in their hair color). Thanks for the comments and hope you are enjoying your summer!

    Your skin tone determines your best colors, letting your gray grow out doesn’t change your colors. I am warm and am growing out my gray, the pepper color in my new salt and pepper hair is actually caramel. I am still a warm, even with gray hair.

    I think the lady looks good in all those colors that you're saying she shouldn't wear, especially the oranges. The only issue is with the caramel and yellow, and that's only because they clash with the lipstick and blush. The white seems a little overpowering for her, though.

    • @colorfulstylebydana
      @colorfulstylebydana  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you- I will let her know you said that. While I agree she is beautiful and she is wearing makeup (which makes the colors look not as bad), these are definitely not her best colors. She is cool-toned and these colors do not flow well/ are not harmonious with her skin, hair and eyes. I agree the caramel is probably her worst of these, but none of the colors are great. It is a bit tricky to tell in this video because I don't have any of her good colors in here for comparison. I would suggest checking out the other videos featuring some of her best colors.

    Just discovered your delightful channel!
    Oh, boy, do I have feelings!!!…I remember when Color Me Beautiful was first published in the early 1980s and everyone was “getting their colors done”. Well, I somehow managed to get classified by 4 different consultants (at free promo sessions) as 4 different seasons!?!?
    (When I was young, my hair was a very ambiguous medium brown; my eyes are green/brown/grey hazel; and I’m very fair, but in the summer I’d get a sprinkle of freckles.) So I wasn’t easy to pigeonhole, and my middle-school self-esteem was so deflated, I didn’t think anything looked good on me. I gave up, and just wore what I liked, which were usually cool colors that sort of straddled Summer and Winter. (Even when I was a full-on adult, I didn’t yet have the confidence to wear brighter colors-those jewel tones were too much.)
    40+ years later…I am VERY much a salt and pepper…stopped dying my hair for basically the same reasons as your mom’s…and my look finally coalesced. Flattering vs unflattering colors are so much more obvious-and I have the confidence to go bolder. So give me the berries, cool reds, periwinkles, purples, and most blues! (No wonder I’ve always disliked orange, rust, olive! Don’t even get me started on mustard, 😂).
    Much luck to you and thank you for sharing your lovely mom with us!

      You and your mum are beautiful ladies, thank you for encouraging us to wear what we love ! I
      felt like that with my naturally greying hair too … but I think our skin under tone mostly stays the same as we age and our hair grey’s, but definitely hair does influence the overall appearance of some of our colors we choose
      I’m a True Spring ( recently analyzed ) ( surprised too ) I’m looking for the changes on my skin mostly that the warm colors give me even though my best hair color would be the warm brown I had at 20 years old ,I’m not wanting the upkeep of dyes .
      I think the Winter types are lucky 🍀 when they grey , as they generally have less yellowing in the hair and skin so tend to look fantastic as they grey , lucky ladies and men with cool skin and hair

      @@colorfulstylebydana Thanks for replying! I’m happy that I stuck with my intuition-there was absolutely no way I could be a Spring (her only reasoning was that I have green and brown in my eyes-yes, I do-cool green and cocoa brown, with grey being the most dominant color) or Autumn (I look like a cadaver in half of their colors!)
      Luckily, I bought most of my more expensive coats and sweaters in grays, black, or cool taupe. (And one of my daughters can pull off warmer colors, so she gets my amazing tomato red raincoat-I love its zest, but it just is too warm-toned for me.)

    • @colorfulstylebydana
      @colorfulstylebydana  11 месяцев назад

      Skin tones are definitely a factor. In the system I use (Color Alliance), we also take hair color into consideration (as well as eye color). The main reason people choose to change colors as they go grey (despite having a warm skin tone) is because some cooler colors will now harmonize better with the new cooler hair color (grey) than the very very warm colors (orange, mustard yellow etc). There will still be many warm colors that work.

      In the system I use (Color Alliance) we take hair color into consideration (along with skin tone and eye color), so when a client's hair color changes, their most flattering colors often change. (it doesn't mean you will switch seasons necessarily, but usually there is a shift in which colors suit you best).

    Sorry but I strongly disagree. I just had my colours done by a professional. Everyone with dyed hair had to cover their hair with a scarf so the analyst could get a true gauge on skin undertone. Skin undertone, whether you are warm or cool never changes, even when your hair does. I am a light spring with silver hair. It's about the colours that make your complexion even and glow. You don't change from warm to cool because of hair colour changes. I'd recommend you learn from a different system.
