***WARNING***This video is made for educational and entertainment purposes only, if you attempt to make this at home you do so at your own risk and we can not be held responsible for any injuries. Making hard candy is a dangerous process since such high temperature are used to make it. With that said, for those that are curious and want specifics this is how we make it.
For one full size batch we combine into a copper kettle 7 pounds of corn syrup, 14 pounds of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar and 2 quarts of water. We heat it up to 310°F, then add the flavoring oil before removing it from the stove and pouring it onto the marble table to cool down. Here we add in color and flavoring oil before stretching it on the hook. We stretch it to add in air bubbles which turns it white. We combine the stripes into the body and put it through our fancy candy cutter, then we just wait for it to cool down and bag it up for you to buy!

For the people wondering why we use our hands to put the corn syrup into the kettle it would stick to gloves or a ladle too much if we did that, trust us we've tried. Also the health code regulations that we abide by have determined that it is more than safe for us to do so without gloves because we then heat the candy up to 310ºF or 154ºC. As for the people worrying that Max didn't use soap when "washing his hands," he actually wasn't washing his hands, corn syrup isn't unsanitary or pathogenic, he was just rinsing the corn syrup off of his hands. And the reason he was rinsing his hands in between grabbing the corn syrup is because if you rinse your hands under cold water then corn syrup won't stick to your hands very much. The more you know 🌈🌠

Yeah basically I find it really interesting to see how people live their daily lives in just a glimpse. If something happens, a loud noise or something for example, I like seeing how people react to it. I dunno something in my brain just really likes feeling “distant” from my own life by focusing my mind on others. Hearing other people’s conversations, watching someone listen to music, seeing someone mimic facial expressions as they read them in a book. It’s difficult to explain but it’s just really calming and interesting to me

I need to find out if you ever did dual flavor hard candies. The moment I heard that I started thinking about it. Orange creamsicle, root beer floats, key lime pie, margarita, Strawberry Shortcake, coffee and cream Bourbon and Coke where are some ideas I had

Chocolate lime is really good & very popular in the UK. Sweet & just a little bit sour too. Our chocolate limes are typically hard lime on the outside & the inside chocolate part is slightly crumbly so there's a textural difference too. An old fashioned favourite.

These people are super nice!!! I bought a bag of watermelon and grape. I actually had to specially requested separate from the fruit and medley pack, which they gave me a heads up when they were making after expressing interest for a couple months. They also included one of each of the fruit medley flavors, a pen, and a magnet, which was super awesome. It all tasted amazing and I would gladly order from them again. Their candy is just the right amount of flavor that last from start to finish. Kudos on the amazing candies and keep up the great work!!!!!

Ok I don't know if anybody else suggested this, as I attempted skimming the comments, but
Pina Colada as a suggested mix. .... pineapple body and coconut stripe.
My family has a Christmas tradition to make hard candy EVERY year. We make about 20-30lbs worth. Enough for every sibling(6), grandchild(16) and my mom to get a bag full. Only thing I don't like is we anyways mix all the different flavors together in a mixed up batch. I would prefer letting us pick and choose which flavors we want. And we just use vandy roll pans, pour it into them and use kitchen shears to cut tiny pieces. Fast, before it hardens. Anyways, think I'm going to try making pina colada and layering the 2 flavors, then cut the 2 layers into tiny pieces.

Recently started watching and iv got to give it to you guys, you seem so chilled out its unreal, from what iv seen in the UK people stress far too much in this sort of work but to see you guys just chipping away till the day is done, it gives me joy yi know that your Candy's (hard boil sweets) are made with such love, care, and attention to detail, that j you guys you have even gilled in the secrets iv been looking for, for many years, but now I know I'll be attempting to use some of then to make myself and partner some "adult candy"

I still wish you'd show us how you clean up after making a batch of candy. We'd like to know how it's done. At least I would.
Deidre Lockwood Steve mentioned in one of their videos that there really isn’t much to it, because they clean up as they go.
That being said... I still want to see it! Cleaning the copper pan, changing the table canvas at the candy warmer, and the wooden stirrers. Do they hand wash, or is there a washing machine. Do they have to completely clean and sanitize the marble slab between every batch, or just at the end of the day? These are all things we need to know!

@@rattmongrel the stirrirs are disposable, i dont think the table really needs to be cleaned often unless food coloring gets on the table, the candy sanitizes the table haha its molten hot, i think the copper pot, spatula, cookie cutters, and gloves are all that really need to be cleaned. I bet most of that even gets done throughout the day. I bet the end of the day is just gloves and the pot and big wooden paddle, thermometer and sweep the floor.
It probably is a process them themselves dread so imagine their opinion on filming the process. Probably wouldnt prioritize it either

there’s still no reason you wouldn’t want to mix the flavours beforehand and just flavor all the batch then divide and colour. Otherwise every piece would be a slightly different flavour
